Reminiscing about the past made Ronnie feel a bit melancholic. If he remembered correctly, he never really saw Gia hang out with everyone else. If she was not in class then you would find her under an old pagoda tree next to the classrooms. She truly had been alone all the time.
When she saved him at that time, the level of skill she showed was truly astonishing for someone her age. Over the next couple of years after they became friends was when she realized that she actually got professional training to deal with the loss of her parents.
Ronnie talked over and over and over while Sean just sat there and listened. The two thought that Gia was asleep but actually she was not. Gia listened as Ronnie talked about the past. She had never truly remembered what happened but the night of her parents murder was still clear as day to her.
The Red Dove would be hosting the gala soon, they needed to find all possible means to get inside and know exactly what the agenda would be. Until now, the committee had not released an official statement on the number of attendees and what it would be all about.
An idea crept into her mind. Ronnie was able to find out about the gala and that it was invite only so finding the list of people invited would not be very difficult. If worst come to worst they had to hijack one of the cars, steal their invitations and slip into the gala.
She got up abruptly, scaring Sean so much that he fell down from his chair. In the beginning he had wanted to talk to her but did not find the perfect opportunity. The issue was in Gia's mind but she chose to keep it at the back in order for her to handle the most important matters first.
"Ronnie did you bring your computer?" She asked. Ronnie walked around, opened a bag and took out a sleek laptop holding it in the air for Gia to see. She smiled a little then asked him if he could get the list of those who would attend the gala. So far the only information they had was that these people were big shots but they did not know their names.
Since the information was highly encrypted it would take Ronnie hours to hack through it and get it. Gia and Sean sat on the side while Ronnie worked his magic. The speed was still fast and he looked over exited while tapping on the keyboard.
"Hey, I wanted to talk to you about something" Sean started. Gia looked at him, motioning for him to continue.
"I've had professional training before that was why I got into that fight the other day. I am sorry I kept this from you." His tone was solemn, like someone truly repenting but none of what he said was what Gia wanted to hear. She stared at him, had many questions to ask but still did not ask them She could tell that Sean was keeping some information from her and she even started to wonder, almost asking, Is your name even Sean?
"It's okay, I got it" that was all she replied with. Sean looked skeptical. He had tried to explain the best way he could but still felt that the other did not believe him. He felt a little worried as he did not want mistrust to stem into the way of the relationship the three of them had built over the past weeks. This friendship gave him freedom that he had never tasted before.
As a famous person, all his life entailed was shoots and travelling, there was no time he was ever free. He could not walk on the streets without being noticed, it felt a little suffocating. He did not know if the others knew whether he was famous or not but he still felt the others needed to know so he said in a loud voice making sure even Ronnie could hear him,
"I am an actor and I am half Korean half Chinese and I am very famous" He said the words very fast that even Ronnie's typing speed stopped for a second. He chuckled a bit before saying, "We already know that, no need to shout"
Ronnie had finally found a chance to shine a little. He just looked at Sean for a while before going back to his work as if nothing of importance had happened. Gia on the other hand looked at him with mouth raised into a sly smile.
She actually did not know about the other being famous until she saw the billboard, which was when she asked Ronnie to do a little background check. She did not want to retort to this method and wanted Sean to tell them in person but she could not wait.
Turns out the man was an actor who had even starred in some Hollywood films. It was easy to guess the reason why he was in America at that time. If Gia watched movies then she would have known who she was when they met but she was never interested in those type of things.
Before Sean could find a comeback after being perplexed, Ronnie called for them, he had found the list of attendees. The gala would actually be a masquerade which was perfect. This made it easy for their identities to be hidden if they ever made it in there.
The three looked at the list and went over the list one by one. Everyone invited was either the president of an oil manufacturing company or owners of hospitals but one name stroked out amongst the rest, it was a certain Mr. Han who was a film producer who owned his own company.
When Ronnie looked him up, Gia noticed that he had the same build as Sean except that greasy face of his. He changed women like clothes which meant that his date for the event had not been chosen already. It would be easy for Sean to pose as Mr. Han and not be noticed, after all their faces would be covered by masks.
Gia looked at Sean for a long time giving the other goose bumps. He squeaked out a what in a small voice. Gia just chuckled and asked,
"Do you wear suits?"
Sean was dumbfounded even further but she did not explain only mouthing slowly,
"Well hello Mr. Han!"
