Chapter 12 - NIGHT SKY

The day of the gala was slowly approaching. The theme had already been posted and now all that was left to do was shopping. Since the two could not be seen outside, the task was left for Ronnie but when he came back with the clothes, Gia almost smashed his head on the coffee table. She left, fuming leaving him behind wondering what on earth he did wrong.

Sean took a single glance of the clothes, slumped one arm on the other's shoulder and said quietly, "Wow partner, just wow" then he left.

Gia wore a disguise as she stepped into the boutique. She was afraid that the service would be in Korean which she did not understand but luckily there were translations written down in English. Just thinking about the clothes Ronnie had bought made her grind her teeth in anger. It was not that the clothes were bad or anything but it was the colors that were completely off.

The shopping took a while but she was extremely satisfied with the clothes she bought. They were slightly expensive but completely worth it. Ronnie and Sean were playing computer games when she returned. She looked at Sean quietly. The other had his head completely engrossed in the game. His injuries had healed quite nicely, not leaving any scars.

Gia felt that having him around was like carrying around a ticking bomb. He was very famous and to top it all off, he had an uncle with unknown intentions. If anything went south in the operation they were about to partake in, then her very own identity would be revealed.

Not many people knew who her parents were except Suzy and her family. The men who had left after killing her parents that day did not actually know that they had left behind a witness. If they had known that that couple had a child, she would have been killed already a long time ago.

She was also afraid of the danger she was putting the other two in. Although she had agreed when they wanted to join in, something deep in her heart was spreading fear all around her body. She felt that if anything happened to them, especially to Ronnie, she would never be able to forgive herself.

She pulled Sean out of the game to try on the clothes she had bought. He left very unwillingly and when he came out again, even Ronnie was astonished. The black tuxedo fit him perfectly. His face was smooth and extremely fair. The color of the suit made his face stand out more, it was like the suit was an accessory for his face.

Gia mouthed silently, 'very handsome' then went inside to try on her dress. The words came out in a whisper yet the two men seemed to have heard her clearly. Sean blushed a little while Ronnie felt that the words were very correct, he threw his jealousy aside and complimented the other rather loudly of how good his looks were.

Gia stepped out rather quickly. Looking up, she saw that the two men were completely frozen. She waved a little to try and get their attention but their faces never moved and their mouths were both opened wide.

Sean and Ronnie were dumbstruck. Ever since Ronnie knew Gia, not once had he seen her wearing a skirt or dress. She hated tight fitting clothes with a passion yet now as she stepped out in that red dress, he kind of approved of her choice of clothing back then, wasn't this figure too shocking?

The dress Gia was wearing had a high slit at the side. It was tight fitting and the neckline came up to the shoulders. The back was slightly open but had a pattern of buttons lining up from up to down. Her hair which was normally held up in a simple bun was now let down on the side.

If Sean was blushing earlier due to the comment, right now his face was completely red. This was an extremely rare sight. His heart beat erratically and he immediately understood why the other man in the room liked Gia.

She was beautiful even without the dress up and everything but right now seeing her with different clothing, a gentle sophisticated air spread down her entire body. Sean had been brought up in an extremely wealthy family so he easily interacted with the ladies of the same social circle.

The dressing style of Gia consisted of trousers, shorts and t-shirts yet she still looked noble in them. Sean had guessed that she was also from a wealthy family just based on the type of clothes she wore yet this dress had confirmed his suspicions. He had wanted to ask but he remembered that he had also not disclosed anything about his family apart from the issue regarding the tracker.

Gia turned around slowly and the hearts of the two men almost flew away. She was gorgeous yet sophisticated. Unlike Sean whose clothes brought focus to the face, the dress brought focus to her whole self.

Ronnie felt that he would faint the next second so he urged her to go inside and change. Sean also did the same. Seeing the normal her, he felt slightly relieved. The three then sat down to discuss certain trivial issues before they retired to bed.

Now that he was alone in his room, Sean had a little thought. It was very strange to him that his team had not talked about his disappearance at all. Thinking back, even the way the men who had attacked him that day had found him was quite a puzzle. The security detail he had put in place was sturdy, almost unshakeable yet the attackers had easily found out where he was.

The day he was attacked, it was not that he did not know how to fight but they were too many. Every time he escaped some, others would appear in front of him, it was as if they knew when and where he would be. If Gia had not saved him that day then he would probably be dead by now.

It felt a little strange until she pulled out the tracker from his bracelet. In his mind, he did not want to believe that his own uncle, who he had worshiped ever since he was little, was the one behind everything but the tracker was like a slap to his face.

The day he had fought on the plane, he felt that there were many questions Gia wanted to ask like how he could not fend off the attacks on the first day they met. All of this was a misunderstanding and he wanted to explain it to her yet the opportune time never came especially with the preparations of the gala.

On the other side, Gia sat upright on the bed. It was already very late yet she could not sleep. Many things and thought revolved round her head making her slightly dizzy. She pulled out a photo from the drawer beside the bed. It was a photo of her parents.

Her mother had on a bright smile while her father stared at her adoringly. She was mixed race. Back then her grandparents refused to allow her parents to get married. It was mainly because her mother was a black woman, but they later came to love her dearly, throwing off their inner racist selves.

This was almost a superpower that she had, no matter the hate, she was able to turn it around to love and because of this, her father adored her even more. For a long time, Gia had wanted a relationship like their own but after they died, she walked around the world, confused. Even the word romance had been thrown to a different corner.

She stroked the photo slightly then put it away. She then silently walked towards the window and stared outside. It was a little dark outside yet the sky was littered with stars, very beautifully.

"What a wonderful starry night under the Seoul sky"
