Chapter 11
A few days had passed since Ryu saved Veranda and Lucy they are working hard to get stronger, however Lucy's leg has not yet properly healed and she tries to hide her pain by putting on a brave face to not show any weakness. Ryu on the other hand is heading to Suker to see if he has learned something from the head he retrieved.
Heading down he enters Suker's lab Suker is waiting for Ryu there he has no eyes or facial expression but Ryu can sense his eagerness to report his findings.
"Sūker tell me what have you learned from this head I bet by your aura something good." Ryu says to him in a calm voice.
"I thought you would never ask, well you see these knights were not human at all, let me clarify on that they are human but modified to an extent for increased speed and strength, it would also seem that they have been modified not to feel any pain this is brilliant but—"
"There is always a but isn't there?" Ryu interrupts him before he continues.
"You know it many may have died in this experiments and the species that was used to merge with him is elven in fact this is a surprize." Sūker says to Ryu in a calm yet energetic tone as to not appear excited.
"This is not the first time they have sunken so low as to use their own do destroy me, my guess is a wizard is behind this who else could have the knowledge to do this."
"That is the most logical conclusion Ryu, I would guess the elves are willing to work with the knights and besides they do hate you with a passion."
"That's true they do so love to hate me maybe I should not have gotten involved with the dark elves and kidnap their queen for ransom."
"Yeah that did complicate things Ryu, it was funny how they scurried around though with no one to give them orders." Sūker replies with a hint of laughter in his voice.
"Let me know if you learn anything else and if not get rid of the head before it starts to rot." Ryu says as he walks away and up the stairs to the throne room.
After he gets there he takes out a journal and starts to sketch in it, it is unclear what he is sketching. Lucy is coming down the stairs with a tray her lunch it would seem she likes to sit in the throne room when Ryu is not there, halfway down her leg gives in and she falls down the steps hitting her head on the steps there is blood running from her head and down her face.
Ryu notices her fall he is there in an instant to help her up he takes a handkerchief and wipes the blood off her face he uses a spell to stop the bleeding he also notices the blood coming from her wound where the knight stabbed her, he picks her up in a classic princess carry.
"No no please I'm fine I can walk." Lucy urges Ryu to put her down as she feels embarrassed she has never been handled in such a way.
"I'll not have any of your words Lucy you are injured why have you not visited the slime yet to heal your wounds?" Ryu replies in a thick voice but also a caring one, he starts carrying her up the stairs again towards the medical wing.
"You see I heard that slimes are all perverts and melt away your clothes only to look at a woman's naked body." She tries to make up excuses not to go.
"Oh nonsense this slime is a female and that's just ridiculous, you should look after yourself maybe next time I won't be here to carry you to the good ol doc." He says with a playful tone something Lucy has not yet heard from him she had not seen this side of him before.
Before she realises it they are in the medical wing and the slime that is waiting there is a dark pink colour only a bit bigger than a ball, she speaks in a sweet yet sharp tone.
"Well Ryu it's about time you brought me another one put her on the bed I'll treat her now." The slime says
"S-so what do I call you miss Slime." Lucy askes as Ryu sets her down on the table.
"You may call me Doc so no funny business you hear me miss Eyes." The slime replies sarcastically to Lucy.
The Doc hops on the table and several tentacles emerge from her slime body they cover Lucy's injuries and she starts to heal Lucy's wounds the cut on her head heals in an instance and so too does the stab wound on her leg.
"Next time come see me and don't try to be though ok? That's why I'm here to take care of you who are not Ryu who never seems to get injured so I can finally be of use to the castle." The Doc says sarcastically to Lucy.
Lucy gets up she has no pain anymore, she thanks the slime and leaves the office in a hurry. "Was it just me or was she blushing when she ran out here just now?"
"Now what would give you that idea Doc?" Ryu replies
"I know you it was that princess carry it makes her blush she never had one I'm guessing?"
"Is that so who knows what goes on in her head 300 years and I still have no clue what women want."
"And nor will you ever my dear Ryu." The slime says in a sarcastic yet playful tone.
Ryu leaves the Slimes office he heads outside where his lions are sleeping he loves to spend time with them, because the lions are not ordinary lions but Nemean Lions long thought to be extinct in this day and age their fur was a beautiful shade of gold they were feared by humans and knights alike. Ryu finds his favourite tree to lay under and relax simply as he lies two lion cubs sneak up on him and attack him he pretends to be injured by doing this he is building the cubs confidence, they believe they are fierce warriors to injure him they are still too young to roar as he plays with the cubs their mother approaches and simply lies next to Ryu her head on his lap, he lies back his back on her and pats her head.
"You have lovely children Liz they are strong already, I am tired in a way nobody understands no man is meant to live for ever I often think about death and her embrace to finally rest and not fight anymore I am reluctant to fight these days but ever since I saved Veranda and Lucy came here willingly I feel I need to be my old self again and make those bastards fear me, I could have wiped them all out but at what purpose, guess I'm over thinking things." Ryu closes his eyes.
"Why would you dream of my embrace my sweet Ryu I am always willing to embrace you, you only need call me." A woman's voice is heard Ryu opens his eyes and before him stands a figure her face covered by a dark purple hood and her body not visible the cloak cover her entire body.
"Hello Death it's been a while." Ryu says calmly the Lioness is watching the figure her eyes focused on her, her teeth showing and eyes that are ready to kill.
The woman giggles and replies to Ryu calmly, "Oh yes that it has been my dear we have so much to talk about wouldn't you say my sweet little lover boy."
