It had taken awhile and a lot of mountain trekking but he had finally found the source of Jay's phone's GPS signal. A small cave, like an idiot he rushed in without a plan or backup. If anyone touched Jay's head he'd make them wish they could die one hundred times over.
The scene in front of him made him freeze for a second. A large but tiny fire snake was curled around Jay with its fangs sunk into his shoulder. Jay….. was he even conscious? It was hard to tell.
He ran forward and like an idiot punched the snake with a fire fist. The fire did basically no damage to the fire resistant snake. The punch probably did more but even that was still minimal.
The snake removed its fangs with a hiss. "Fire not welcome. You bad firessssss"
Mr. Liopah glared at him and shot his own fire spell at James who dodged it. Shoot he couldn't fight two enemies at once! He activated another fire fist this time aiming at Mr. Liopah. The man moved as if to dodge it then froze.
James's fist collided with the side of his face sending him flying. He spat out a mouthful of blood and aimed a punch at James but then again froze for a half second allowing James to dodge it and kick him in his male parts. He fell to the ground.
James wasn't a saint who would wait for his enemy to recover. Instead he kicked him while he was down literally until Mr. Liopah fell unconscious.
"How daressss you!" hissed the snake.
Jay! James glared back at the snake who was unwrapping itself from Jay's limp body. The snake lunged at him and also froze for a half second. James finally realized the cause as he kicked the snake with all his might. Jay was still alive and fighting.
James picked up a large rock from the ground and slammed it over the snake's head the next time it froze. He heard a satisfying crunch as the snake fell to the ground. He then bashed its head in several more times until he was sure it was dead.
James rushed over to Jay and burned the ropes holding him down. He wasn't responsive and he felt his gut clench.
"Jay, JAY!" he yelped shaking the other. "No, come on wake up." He yelped. How much time had passed? One minute? Five? More?
They were in the middle of nowhere. He couldn't just take him to the hospital.
"Don't die..." James's voice trailed off as tears started to well up in his eyes.
"You worry too much." came a soft reply.
James sucked in his breath as Jay slowly opened his eyes.
"Not fun, I don't recommend it." Jay commented and James laughed hugging him tightly. Jay winced.
"Are you okay?" asked James, then kind of regretted his phrasing, of course he wasn't okay.
"Body feels like it's on fire, but I'm sure I'll live." Jay replied.
James picked him up and kissed him. To his delight Jay returned the kiss, but his whole body really did feel way to hot...hospital….. would a hospital be able to treat this?
James remembered the weird doctor at the fancy house... fancy house right.... He had figured out its location while searching for Jay although it was more of an accident. If he hadn't thought of how interesting one of the trees was he never would have remembered the mansion on the hill.
He tied Jay onto his back with some of the rope and then whispered, "come on luck don't let me crash now." He activated his flames from his hands and feet and took off into the sky like a superhero. He probably looked more like a broken robot chicken trying to fly though.
Ten minutes later he crashed into the yard of the fancy house. Ugh not fun, landing still needed work. Three people rushed out and were looking at him.
"Please, help." He whispered motioning to Jay.
SkyStorm laid Jay on the ground before running some magic over him. "You should come inside." He stated. He picked up Jay and walked back in the house. Why was it so hard to read his emotions? Couldn't he just tell James if Jay would be okay or not!
James paced by the open door where SkyStorm was doing doctory heal stuff to Jay. Why wasn't he saying anything?
Finally after what seemed like ages Bright asked "Well will he be okay or not?"
At last someone had asked the question James wanted an answer to. He waited for his reply and his blood grew more cold at the lack of an answer.
"Come here" SkyStorm motioned to James. He quickly walked over as SkyStorm continued, "he's too cold at the moment, you need to run your fire magic over him to keep him warm and also stimulate his body a bit so it works the toxins out."
"Wait what you mean stimulate his body?" asked James.
SkyStorm motioned to his lower section, "I'll leave you alone for a bit." He then walked out of the door dragging Bright with him.
James's eyes had gone wide as saucers. "But…" he called toward the door.
"If you don't he'll die." Came his reply, "You're probably the closest one to him."
James's mouth went dry as he paused for a few seconds before slipping and hand under Jay's pants and also letting his fire magic warm him. He turned his head away unable to watch himself.
Minutes went by. James was feeling more and more panicked as he worked.
Finally Jay's whole body relaxed and returned to normal. James hadn't noticed that he could feel it until the poison left his system.
Jay's eyes opened again and James quickly removed his hands.
"Are you okay?" he asked hesitantly.
Jay blinked a few times, "what happened?" he muttered.
"Uh... stuff." James replied.
Jay blinked a few times and realization crossed his face. He turned red all over and they both looked away from each other.
"Okay, so that happened." Jay said quietly.
"Mmmm" replied James not trusting himself to speak.
It was silent for several more minutes before Jay finally spoke again.
"Let's just officially call ourselves a couple okay?" Jay said. James wrapped his arms around him and they stayed like that for the rest of the day and night.
