Chereads / Ajay Allan: The Journey Of Allan / Chapter 9 - In The Royal Capital

Chapter 9 - In The Royal Capital

As I saw knights approaching, I took my leave. Them try to convince me to stay so they can return the favour, but I was already tired so I declined.

I was flying over the Royal Capital, being invisible obviously. People will fluster if they saw someone floting above them.

I landed in a park between some trees and removed invisibility.

"Aaah... I'm starving. Didn't get a proper meal this morning."

'First I trained, then just after travelling empty stomach I fought some assassins, well it was not a big deal. But it still made me more hungry, huaaaa ah...'

I stretched my arm as I was yawning.

"Hmm... Maybe I should go and check the market. I think I can get something that would be tasty over there. I can do other things after that, right? Right?

Yeah, obviously. As they say, 'a hungry belly has no ears'."

---------------

I was walking in the market, exploring different types of shops and food stalls, mostly food stalls and things related to food stuff. There was some sort of food in my hand which I was eating. I don't know what they call it, but it was good. It was chicken, covered with different type of spices and other... toppings, I think so. Well I never actually eat it before, but I bought it because it was looking good, so was it.

Looking around, I saw a man kneeling before a guy. The difference between them was clear from seeing it.

"Please sir, I beg you. Don't do this. I have a family."

"So do I. If you can't pay then there is no helping it."

"Please sir. Show some mercy... If you do this to me, I'll be on road..."

"You commoners are so pathetic. If you can't payback, then why do you people ask for money at the first place."

A commoner was begging to a noble. Well I don't know what was the case, so I still thought of not sticking my nose in others matter.

As I started to leave, I saw a girl approaching them.

"Sir, if you excuse me. Can I ask what's the matter?"

Girl asked the noble with a straight, serious face. She seems to be around 18 and have bronde hairs. She was attractive and also have well shaped body, and was wearing the same armour as Leon was wearing, slight a bit different though maybe was made for female knights.

"Oh, Lady Narisa... You see this lowly commoner borrowed money from me and now is refusing to return it... Seriously, just standing near these people makes me sick."

"Sir, I swear that I will return it. Please don't close my shop."

Shopkeeper said to the noble, still on his knees.

"If it's about money, then tell me how much. I'll pay on his behalf."

"Wait, seriously... Lady Narisa, are you sure you'll pay for this lowly man!? I don't think you should spent you money for the likes of them, it will affect your status..."

"It's alright. A Royal Knight's work is to help the people in needs, as long as I can help in some way then I will. And you just want you your money back right, so it doesn't matter who pays."

"...Lady Narisa."

"It's alright, I don't mind paying on you behalf. So rest assure."

"Thank you very much, Lady Nerisa."

Shopkeeper bow to Nerisa. Well he was already on his knees and now he even bowed. How can someone show this much respect to a person I still think.

'Wow, I didn't thought that there are still people like her who are going to help someone like this guy. Specially when it comes to money.'

"Sir, tell me the amount of debt."

"Well if you are willing to pay then I won't stop you.500 gold coins. If you pay me 500 gold coins I promise I'll leave."

"Alright then, I'll-... Hm?Ah...Excuse me sir, can I pay you later. It seems like forgot to bring money with me..."

Knee man (AN- Name give to shopkeeper by Allan) started trembling. Fear was clearly visible on his face.

All the seriously look on Narisa's face also fade away. She looked a bit embarrassed, well it is normal.

When you try to help someone or act to talking like all serious and then mess up. It really feel embarrassing.

Well I can say one thing for sure, that it was hilarious.

"I'm afraid you can't. If you can pay now then it's fine. But afterwards, no, sorry, I'm actually a pretty busy person. I have other important matters to attend."

"Then can I-"

"Ahm excuse me... If you don't mind, I can pay you instead of them?"

I cutted Narisa in between as noble turned to me. I thought this was the best thing to do to settle this commotion.

"Hm? And who might you be?"

"Well it doesn't matter who I am. You just want your money, don't you? I can pay you, so why not humbly accept it."

"Wait. Are you sure you can pay?"

Narisa asked me.

"Don't worry about it. It's simply money. It's not like he is asking for my life... Here, take this, 500 gold coins."

"Hmm... Let's see..."

I tossed a pouch of gold coins to him. He checked it as he measured its weight on a measuring device which I have never saw before. Seems like their were lots of things that I need to learn and a lot of things that is yet to see. Interesting...

"It weigh 500 gold coins... Alright since you are a kind man who payed on the behalf of a lowly commoner, I trust you that you would have payed the right sum, but I will check it afterwards so-"

"Go ahead, it's accurate 500 gold. Nothing more nothing less. I assure you."

"I see, then I will leave now there is no need for me to stay at a place like this. Standing here will gain nothing but only affect my social standings."

With that he turned away and get into a noble carriage at short distance.

'People here sure suffer discrimination. The way that guy was speaking, it was clear. Feeling of disgust towards commoners and arrogance were evident in his words. Their is not doubt nobles and high standards look down on commoners. What a pity.'

I sighed as the shopkeeper approached me.

"Sir you really safe my life today. I will remember this gratitude to you for the rest of my life. You're always welcome to my shop sir. And I will surely pay you later"

Dang, he was verge to the tears.

I smiled and said.

"No it's alright. Really, you don't have to pay me, knee guy."

"Wait, really!?"

"Yeah, it was not a big deal. It's alright."

"No, you actually helped a lot. If you wouldn't had come, it would be trouble..."

Narisa said.

Thank you very much sir, again."

Shopkeeper bowed and then returned to his shop.

"But still, lending such a huge amount without any hesitation, I can't help but doubt you. Looking at you, it does not seem that you are from here... Are you after something?"

Narisa asked me with a serious expression on her face.

Well it was common that one would be suspicious if someone just come out of no where and help you, specially financially. Though she was right. I am after something, but that can't be explained so...

"Well you were also willing to help, didn't you? I was just passing by when I saw that the trouble. So think of lending a hand. I am after nothing. But, weren't you doing the same. You were also willing to help, didn't you?"

"Well yeah, you are right. As a knight of the Royal order I was doing my job to the ones who are in trouble. Ah, my bad. I haven't introduced myself. I am Narisa Liam, one of the commander of Royal Knights Order. It's a pleasure to meet you and I am sorry for doubting you."

Ah, so she was a commender too.

"No, it's alright. It's a pleasure to meet you. I-"

"Oh, commander there you are."

Just as I was about to introduce myself, somebody interrupted in between. I turned to see a knight who called Narisa.

"Hm, what is it? You want something."

"Ma'am, you are asked to summon in the palace."

"Huh, is something wrong?"

"I am sorry ma'am. But we didn't get details, all we know is that this is urgent and the other court members have also been called."

"I see."

She turned to me.

"I have to leave. Thank you once again... Well then, until we meet again."

"Yeah, later."

With that, we exchanged greetings, and we went our separate ways...
