Next day, Cleave Hills Middle School.
Almost first period, at the lockers.
ZOEY: Girlie, what happened to you? You weren't in school yesterday, called a million times but it never went through.
ELENA: You won't believe if I told you.
ZOEY: Try me.
ELENA: Tuesday night, I fainted. All I remember was waking up at the hospital, I had to take a day off to rest.
ZOEY: You fainted? That's... unusual. Are you okay?
Elena tells her everything that happened on Tuesday night, including she and her brothers findings about Peggy.
ZOEY: She's dead? This is creepy!
ELENA: Shh... keep your voice down (she whispers) right now we gotta help her.
ZOEY: Help who? A ghost? Are you for real?
ELENA: I know I may sound crazy but...
ZOEY: You don't sound crazy, you are... crazy (she pokes Elena's shoulders with her index for emphasis) One weird thing is discovering that the person you've been talking to died three years ago. Another weird thing is the idea of you wanting to get more involved with her after finding out all of these.
ELENA: I understand and appreciate your concern for me, Zoey. But we gotta help her...
ZOEY: We? Wanna get me involved too?
ELENA: Come on Zoey, she was murdered and she seeks justice. We need to know who killed her.
ZOEY: Justice or vengeance? Didn't you say that she left a message that literally says 'Avenge me'? And last time I checked, this was the job of the cops.
ELENA: But Zoey...
ZOEY: We've got a class now, let's go.
Recess, Evans High.
Anderson and his friends bump into Bonnie at the door of the cafeteria just as she's about entering with Laura.
BONNIE: Just go away, I don't wanna see your face. How many times am I gonna say that?
LAURA: Bonnie... (she squeezes her friend's shoulders lightly) ...please hear him out.
LOUIS: Bonnie, there's something you should know.
ANDERSON: Hey, man! Don't... don't do it. Stop.
ADRIAN: She has the right to know what's going on in your life.
ANDERSON: Don't tell her about it! Not now... please, I insist.
ADRIAN: And what's wrong if we tell her?
Bonnie and Laura share a confused look and stare at the three of them.
ANDERSON: You both know what happens when I get triggered, I always end up...
"Laura! Check out my painting. You dig it?" A random freshman boy interrupts their conversation, holding up a canvas painting of a burning house.
LAURA: What's that? A house on fire? Cool! You gotta make a portrait of me soon. (Admiring the painting)
ANDERSON: Damn it. Fire! (He exclaims, catching a glimpse of the painting)
LOUIS: Shit! Shitt! Shittt! It's happening again! This is the last thing we need right now. (Trying to cover the painting)
BONNIE: What's happening again?
ADRIAN: Get your god damn painting out of here! Run along, kid! (While chasing the boy away, he sneaks ten bucks into the boy's front pocket)
ANDERSON: Fire!! Fireee!!! (Holding his head, his voice gets louder)
LAURA: What's wrong with him? He started yelling as soon as he saw the painting.
ANDERSON: Fireeeee!!! (Gradually pulling a crowd)
LOUIS: Laura, that painting is related to his past, the moment he saw it, it triggered some bad memories which he's been trying so hard to surpress. Now he can't control himself.
ANDERSON: Fire!! Fire!!... Arrrgghh! Fire!!! (Falling to the ground, still holding his head and breathing heavily)
"Where's the fire?" (The cafeteria chef rushes out with a fire extinguisher)
LOUIS: No cause for alarm sir. Our friend is afflicted.
ADRIAN: We need to get him to the clinic, he's gonna pass out. (Trying to lift Anderson from the floor, Louis gives him a hand)
ANDERSON: Fire!!! (Creating a scene as his friends carry him to the clinic, almost everyone is outside the cafeteria now)
BONNIE: Oh my God... something's wrong with Anderson.
LAURA: I'm guessing he's had an unpleasant encounter with fire in the past and this display is a result of the trauma.
"Fire!!!!!"
