After the morning event Alexander and Katherine sat down in the dining room. It was a surprised by the Queen herself to show up unannounced, what's was more surprising was the Queen making breakfast for them. Heather was a dowager Queen or the Queen Mother. After the death of last King, she took over and ruled as the Queen of the Valentia for 22 years. Eventually allowed her son to ascend to the throne and Heather became an instructor at the Mage Academy. She had been teaching magic for the last 10 years and since then she has been enjoying her free time.
Heather return from the kitchen with a huge tray filled with food. Alexander and Katherine felt awkward sitting down with Heather, they were curious about that whole situation.
"Aren't you hungry?" Heather ask the two, noticing that they haven't started eating.
They began eating because they didn't want to offend her. Judging by the smiles on their faces the food tasted amazing, they couldn't help but continuously compliment heather for the food. It was all wonderful until tears fell from Alexander's face. It was a really shift from laughter to crying as he dropped the fork back on the plate which was filled with pancakes. It was unusual for some to cry over pancakes. Everybody stopped eating as if something was wrong. Katherine placed her hand over his back, but that startle Alexander for a moment. He was not aware he was crying, but he had a smile on as his face, it was like he couldn't choose between emotions.
"Are you alright Alexander?" Katherine ask him.
"I'm alright," he replied, "It's been so long since I tasted these kind of pancakes."
Katherine was confused. "That's a valid reason to cry about."
"Your Majesty, Can I ask you a question?" he asked, hiding his face.
"No need to be formal, just call me Heather… and yes you may."
"Do you know… someone called Luna?"
"Luna? … Luna? What is she to you?"
"She was someone special."
Heather stood up and waked towards the balcony. Katherine felt out of place, she had no idea what was going on. Alexander didn't follow her because he had an idea of the answer he was seeking.
Heather let off a big sigh, "She was the Princess of Valentia, she was my daughter."
"I knew it, you have the same energy as her and the pancakes were a big give away." He replied with a huge smile. "I really miss her."
Heather was filed with tears as she slowly returned to the table. After a few minutes of crying, Heather and Alexander finally resumed breakfast. They didn't speak about Luna until they finished breakfast. By that time Heather got serious with the reason for her visit. One of Heather's guards cleared the table, and another placed Alexander's sword on the table. The sword was wrapped with a dark heavy cloth and tied using a rope. This made Alexander mad because they took his sword without permission.
"Care to explain why my sword is on the table?' He asked calmly trying not to get angry. "I don't appreciate people touching my stuff without my permission."
"Let's get down to business." Heather stated, ignoring Alexander's question. "You two are foreigners here and she made a mistake of using magic without permission two months ago." Recalling the events at the magic academy.
Valentia forbids outsiders from using magic without permits, this was to prevent Valentia from being caught up in another war. After the great tragedy of the Kingdom of Valentia became a neutral zone, which means fighting between Samar and Narvarh was forbidden. Alexander lived in the Kingdom of Samar for most of his life, and Katherine was born and raised in the Kingdom of Narvarh. This made the two stick out like sow thumbs, and it caught the attention of the Queen.
Heather continued with her reason for her visit. "You should have been arrested 2 months ago, when you stopped that fire spell. Do you remember Katherine?"
Katherine nodded her head, agreeing with her. "But I saw potential in you and that's why I fought with you. You fought valiantly, but I had more experience which gave me the upper hand. Also I wanted to show off for my students, and I have to say it was fun." Heather continued.
"So tell us why you didn't arrest her, or killed her?" Alexander asked hoping to solve the reason of why her was at Valentia.
Heather was getting off topic but soon after got back on track. "Her magic was unique, and not to mention her mage craft. So I'm curious about her, what is your magic?" At that time a guard place a cup of tea in front of her.
"I don't know. Nobody knows anything my magic. I can basically use any magic I want. They called me a prodigy when I was young because I could master any spell I wanted." Katherine answered.
Mages can use different types of magic, range from common elements to advance mage craft. Common elements are: water; fire; earth; and air. These are the basics and anybody can use them. Mages can have the capability to use one or two elements. If the Mage is experienced enough or blessed with vast amount of mana, they could use all the elements, but it's rare to see thing.
Mage craft are unique spells, they defy logic and reason. This requires mana control and imagination to pull off. A Mage could manipulate any elements to create a dragon, or create something impossible.
Heather turned her to attention to Alexander. "… and you, Alexander. You are like the opposite of Katherine. You lack magic and that's why you use a magic sword, but somehow this sword is a real treat to Mages." She unwrapped the cloth and revealing his sword. The scabbard for the sword had a rose design on it, Heather couldn't help but admire it. Alexander drew the sword out from it scabbard and laid it down on the table again. He didn't let go, but instead channeled mana into the sword, a red outline of a rose appeared on the side.
"So this is the blade rumored to have the ability to cut down any magic?" Heather asked. She laughed noticing the rose design. "Legend has it that there is a rose which is the source of all magic. Which makes sense when you think about it."
"It's basically an equalizer. I'm in the mana department, I can manage one or two spells at most. So I dedicate my mana into strength and speed enhancement." Alexander explained.
One of the guards came in and reminded Heather about her appointment at the magic academy, she couldn't believe it was that late already.
"That reminds me, didn't we have an appointment at the academy?" Alexander asked Katherine.
"Yes, but we had a crazy morning that we forgot."
Heather clapped her hands, getting the attention of the two. "You two should hurry up and get ready, I will take you there myself… You are going to the academy for training right?" she asked.
"Training? what training?" He asked with a confused look. It seemed Katherine didn't give Alexander all the details.
"We have to become Instructors for the academy, if we want to use magic in Valentia. Heather offered me a deal that if we become Instructors she would over look everything," Katherine informed Alexander, "also we might learn something about the tragedy--."
"Not today. Today we are going to graduation." Heather interrupted.
Heather ordered the guards to get the cars ready for departure, and she wait for Alexander and Katherine to get ready. After some time, Alexander and Katherine left the house and took a ride with Heather on one of the cars.
…
While that was happening, somewhere near the border Samar and Valentia, Hunter reappear and crash landed. He finally made it to the Kingdom of Samar after traveling all night. His hand was a little burnt by the attack from the previous night, but it was nothing a healing spell couldn't fix. The Valentian Mages caught him off guard for a few seconds and also he was not prepared to fight anyone.
"Damn it! I was careless. I was too busy trying not to be involved in a fight." Hunter mumble to himself. "Damn it Alexander, I underestimated you kid. We were both thinking the same thing… you wanted to avoid a fight but you had the advantage."
Suddenly a young girl approached Hunter from behind. She was a little short and had pale blue hair.
"Master, where have you been?" she asked with a concerned face. Hunter was tired and didn't feel like answering, so he simply walked past her.
she continued asking and began to follow Hunter. "Master, Master--."
"ENOUGH!" Hunter interrupted. "I don't want to repeat myself. So you will know when we get to the castle, understand." He placed his hand on top of her head and teleported, their destination was the castle.
