Chapter 3 - Kylie Jones

Kylie Jones

"Do you plan to keep your mouth shut like this and waste my whole day?" Esther saw that her assistant had gone into her imaginary world in broad daylight. She was aware of the reason.

'But I couldn't stop myself from laughing', her inner self complained to her.

Esther shook her head. She knew how innocent and pure hearted her assistant, Kylie Jones was. She fell into her grandma's trap. She was done with her files. But her assistant yet hadn't told her the name of the guy that her grandma had arranged for her.

Esther had stopped chuckling after a few seconds yet the shock that Kylie had experienced would last forever with her. Kylie believed that she died from a heart attack, the moment Esther's voice went into her auditory nerves.

Kyle swore she saw angels and the gate of heaven, before she could pass through the gate and enter inside. She had been harshly awoken by the sudden voice of her boss, asking her about some guy.

'Ehh? Since when boys caught my Boss's interest? As much as I remember, even the most handsome male who had undone his last piece of clothing that covered his genitals; couldn't succeed in making my Boss feel shy.'

Kylie remembered what her Boss had told him word by word, "Done acting like a prostitute? I thought only girls did these things but I am feeling amused that boys are trying their hands in this business too. Good job. However your client had sent you to the most frigid person aka ME. Tell him/ her that the opposite gender doesn't excite me much."

Then she asked Esther if she was into girls. She did get her answer but with a flick on her forehead.

Esther had told her that the guy wasn't up to her tastes and like, he didn't have anything which she liked since she had seen better. She also explained to her that not only males were seduced but some women too. She had gotten trained not to be seduced by hot, handsome, charming males.

Still Kylie's curiosity was at its peak. Then they had a long and deep talk on this although Esther never told her about what happened in her past that she hates handsome looking faces.

"Kylie, see there's a cockroach near your foot." Esther again managed to give her innocent assistant a shock. This time it wasn't shock only but visible fear.

Esther muffled her laugh when Kyle hysterically began to shout and run around her office like a hyperactive kid. She kept running into circles, Esther got worried that she might faint so she stood and the moment Kylie was close to her reach, she took hold of her both arms.

"COCKROACH!! GET IT AWAY FROM ME!!"

Kylie was panting heavily after Esther ended her marathon.

Esther advised her, "Take deep breaths."

She gave her the glass of water and made her sit on the couch in the lounge area of her cabin.

After calming down, she grudgingly looked at her Boss, who was busy patting her back. Esther ignored her assistant's accusing gaze and kept her focus on her pats.

"Feeling better?" Esther asked her.

Kylie humphed in a fake angry tone.

Esther gave out a small smile at her assistant's childish behaviour. Then she gave Kylie a head pat, "Sorry, you didn't leave with any other choice."

"What do you mean that you didn't have any option left? You could have simply raised your voice at me, jerked my shoulders, poke me? You had many choices yet you chose the craziest one Esther! You just wanted to punish me for adding that dinner date in your schedule."

Kylie ranted out since she couldn't believe or trust Esther's words. She was aware of Esther's wicked ways of taking revenge. She got pleasure in seeing her victims suffer mental torture and pain rather than physical.

Esther had studied psychology as an extra subject in high school and later she had mastered it. She knew perfectly how the brains of others worked. It was a huge advantage for her. It had helped her shut down her broken self and made this illusionary version of Esther, 'The Unbreakable'.

'Stop lamenting over the past incidents. This isn't the Esther that people fear, that could instill terror in her enemy's heart, mind, body and even soul.' Esther heard her inner self criticized.

She peeped at Kylie and saw her acting like someone stole her favourite dark chocolates.

Kylie cried, "Yaa… My Boss is a hooligan. She is bullying me, her innocent and weak assistant. Where's the justice?"

Her cries would have created misunderstanding if only others would have listened but since no one heard her.

"So I am a hooligan now? As I am already being labelled a 'hooligan and bully', I should act like that too?" Esther murmured silently. She had a serious look on her face as she pretended to ponder over her secretary's words.

Kylie glanced over at her Boss and for the third time in a row, she got shocked. She was Esther's assistant and secretary so she knew her boss's facial expressions and the meaning behind them.

Right now, she had the very expression that meant only business. Kylie thought that her Boss was really considering her words.

She always had this particular expression whenever she was weighing the pros and cons of a business deal or any investment.

Kylie took hold of Esther's both hands, "My beautiful, charming, kind, caring, loving, generous, hot, sexy...Boss. Don't think about my words. Didn't you know that my words are nothing but gibberish? They aren't something big that requires your attention unless it's really for business and work. So I request and beg you to not to think of my previous words and be the same, 'Esther Ross' that I know."

Kylie spoke in one breath. Her hazel eyes sparkled whenever the light rays fell onto them.

Esther didn't know that her assistant Kylie could be this hilarious.

'Seems like I have gained myself a personal entertainer.'

Esther had long convinced herself. She can never ignore her assistant's bubbly and lively behaviour. It was stark opposite to her aloof and ice cold manners.

She felt really lucky to have someone like Kylie around her. She always looked at her smiling face and reminded herself to not let her own darkness consume Kylie.

Esther had shared some incidents of her past with her yet she couldn't bear to tell her the most terrifying and horrible incident that changed her into something that she hated; but she had molded herself into it.
