After Amy had dropped Nicole off at the office she carried on as usual, except she was being followed. Eva wasn't being discreet about it either, she was actively watching and walking closely behind Amy. Only when the two had a shared period did Eva begin her verbal and written harassment. In the middle of biology Amy received a note in her packet, a packet Ev had been in charge of distributing.
-Amy, is Nicole okay? Did she go home? Tell her to text me please, I beg you.-
Amy proceeded to crumple the note and throw it into the trash bin next to her. She turned to see Eva attempting to mask her contempt and irritation for Amy. She mouthed to Amy as she had turned to face her. 'Please please tell her I'm sorry. I'll give you money, anything, just tell her I'm sorry.' This was followed by a scolding from the teacher. Amy was amused, obviously Eva had screwed up if she was coming for help from someone she obviously disliked. The harassment continued at lunch when Eva threw a paper airplane from a few tables over, unfortunately it landed in the tomato soup Nicole had packed with Amy's grilled cheese sandwich.
Once the learning day was over and only track remained for Amy and Eva she thought she was free of Eva's bothering. She was dead wrong, the coach made Amy help Eva since Nicole was out for the day.
"Alright, so bend your knee about here, and adjust your hands about an inch. Good, now go." Eva had really been struggling with her start form, and her running form, she was greatly incapable of running competitively. It wasn't Amy's fault that Eva happened to slip off the block and face plant.
"I am through with you Amy, you did that on purpose. I know I screwed up with Nicole but you have no right to punish me." She was wiping dirt and rocks from her face and Amy couldn't help but laugh. "You think it's funny? I could have broken my nose." Amy tried holding in her laughter, which just made it worse. "You are so done Amy, I don't know what Nicole see's in you." She punched Amy surprisingly hard, knocking her back a bit. Eva shook her hand a bit and went forward for more. A group of freshmen looked towards the fight in the distance, one of them even pulled out their phone. It was this that drew the track coaches attention towards where she had told Eva and Amy to practice. Amy was on top of Eva pummeling her. Their coach began running towards them and made it in time to pull Amy off of Eva. It was then that the coach realized that Amy was dripping blood from her temple.
"You two are in so much trouble. So much trouble that I don't feel like dealing with it right now. Go home, and Amy tells Nicole about this. I'm sure she'd love to hear about this."
"Can I use the locker room coach?" Amy was undeniably in worse condition and the coach felt bad about having to say no but she couldn't risk any more fights. "Alright, bye then. See you tomorrow." She walked calmly away, but she was dreading explaining this and having to shower in Nicole's bathroom. She unlocked her bike and began the brief ride home to Nicole.
"So yeah, that's what happened." Amy had looked down in shame as she explained this to Nicole. She looked up after concluding the story only to see Nicole grab her phone and begin texting someone. "Whoa, let's slow down, you're sick. Who are you texting in such a rush?"
"Eva." A simple answer that confused Amy to death.
"Why would you text her, I thought you blocked her after whatever happened between you two."
"There is nothing between us!" Nicole was thinking of the dream still, feeling guilty and disgusted at herself.
"Alright, got it. Nothing between you guys. But why are you texting her?" Amy leaned closer to Nicole who froze up and stopped typing for a moment.
"She hurt you, probably hoping it would help her case. It won't. So I'm telling her so.
"Nicole, she's crazy. You're just going to feed her delusion."
"And? She needs to know she screwed up." Amy shook her head and instead of arguing she simply re-wet Nicole's cloth.
"Alright, well if you're going to be defending me lay down while you do it." Nicole leaned back at an angle that would likely lead to neck pain. "You're going to hurt yourself like that. Let me adjust your pillow."
"No, no touching right now. Shoo shoo, I can fix my own pillow." Nicole was reluctant to let Amy touch her after her strange and definitely not friendly dream. "Go cook some dinner, it's my night but I'm sick. The recipe is on the counter. And my mom and Chris should be home soon so chop chop." Nicole moved the pillow and began writing a nasty text to Eva before scrapping it and deciding on a more civil one.
-Eva, why on earth did you punch my best friend? As far as I know she's done nothing wrong so please don't involve her in our problems. And for that matter stop stalking me, at that point it's not a problem it's a violation of my privacy.
Sincerely Nicole-
She sent it expecting an immediate response, but nothing came. She was really hoping something would happen so she could stop thinking about her dream involving Amy. It made her feel shame and disgust but also made her curious. What made her think of her friend in that way? She tried brushing it away from her thoughts, when a familiar three voices began speaking at the entrance of the house. She decided to ignore it until she couldn't and got up to look out the window. Quickly being scolded by Amy and told to go back to bed she peeked through the curtains and gasped.
