Chapter 4
It was a sunny beautiful morning, Connor sat on a chair in the terrace with an iced tea on the table before him. He looked at his surroundings and continue to praise the beauty of nature. Looking through his telescope, he saw a bird which stood on a branch with a piece of grass on its beak ,he continued to watch the bird as it builds it's house all by itself. It flew off and then came back with a piece of grass on its beak to build once again.
The bird reminded him of his past. He was a son of an abandoned wife.
Two years after his father married his mother she couldn't conceive,his father then sought for a solution by impregnating his mistress but few months after he did,Connor's mother,Amelia became pregnant. Everyone was excited about her pregnancy and a party was thrown to celebrate as well which made the mistress extremely jealous. However she lost the baby after some months.
The mistress gave birth to a girl which was named Natasha. The mistress became the lady of the house as soon as she gave birth . Amelia was neglected and abandoned by her husband and his family.
The mistress conspired with some people to kick Connor's mother out. She wanted the wealth and riches to be her daughters' alone. Amelia was accused of poisoning her husband but he was actually poisoned by his mistress. It was a planned work between the maidens and his mistress, on the hunting day the mistress pretended to be sick so Amelia had to hunt for meat with her husband for the entire household only for her to be accused of poisoning him after consuming the meat.
Connor's father survived the accident but after much pressure and brainwashing by his mistress,he sent Amelia packing without knowing she was with a baby. She didn't know she was pregnant as well until she started seeing signs.
She single handedly raised Connor in the forest for couple of years before she brought him to the city to live with humans.
Connor was a bright child right from while he was little and so he ended up winning a competition organized by the governor and was awarded scolarship to study till any level he wishes to, taking the burden off his mother. He worked hard to become who he was not relying on his father's wealth that was constantly being lavished and squandered by his illegitimate child.
He remembered how happy his mother was when he told her he dreams of owning his company. She kept cheering him on till she was shot in the heart by an hunter while hunting for food with Connor one moon night. Connor would have killed the hunter out to rage but was prevented from tearing the hunter apart by her.
Tears rolled down his cheeks as he reminisced about the past. He missed her, her strength,her advice and love was what kept him going over the years. His Nana was the only reason he was still alive,his mother's dying wish was for him to take care of her.
He planned on finally ending his life when his Nana dies but it all changed the moment he met Adolpha. Seeing her for the first time in the interview room brought him peace and hope, one he hadn't experienced ever since his mother died. It felt like he saw an angel when she stood before him, his heart kept beating fast as if they would pop out of his chest. He kept yearning to see her every time ever since then, he had managed to control himself from trailing her home.
He thought he would forget about her since she said she didn't feel anything when they met but he didn't, in fact he couldn't stop thinking about her. Ever since that day she had been constantly appearing in his dreams, last night before leaving the office he approved her employment letter.
He didn't know how he would react when he sees her again but he couldn't keep her far from him.
" Master, Nana is downstairs " the maid came to announce to him bringing him back to reality.
"Nana?"
He was surprised by her sudden visit,he planned on visiting her the next day but there she was in his house.
He went to meet her seated in the living room.
" Nana! " He called out with excitement and went over to sit with her.
" How are you my little one" She responded in a squeaky voice.
She brought his favorite human cookies,' one specially made with grandma's secret recipe' as she called it.
He was glad by her presence, he told her all that happened with Adolpha two days ago.
"She didn't feel anything in return you say?" His Nana asked shocked.
" She probably has her eyes on someone else and that must have overclouded her feelings"
She said.
Connor thought about how unlucky he was,meeting his mate after twenty eight years only to learn that she's in love with someone else.
'Maybe I should have just sticked to dying ' he thought.
His grandmother noticed he had been silent for long. She felt bad for him, she had always wanted him to get a bride before she dies and now the horrible fate of being a werewolf is you can only have one mate in your lifetime,if she doesn't agree to be his mate, they would both be miserable for the rest of their lives.
He would continue to yearn for her constantly and she wouldn't find true love either and she would end up dying for going against the rule of nature.
"Don't give up Connor,if she was revealed to you by the great white wolf then she's definitely your bride. Who knows she may get the revelation the next time you both meet" His Nana said trying to lift up his mood a little.
She placed his head on her shoulder and stroked his hair softly.
"Thank you Nana"
