Chapter 8 - Trail to be found

𝘐𝘨𝘰𝘳'𝘴 𝘗𝘰𝘷

As i was walking and the others we're behind me, I felt eery and weirdly disturbed even though we haven't found anything suspicious. Yet, all i could smell was fresh newly leaves as if it was raining before. The birds were chirping with joy, And the sun was slowly setting as it was about to switch to dawn.

The crows were flying by as they were calling to one another to find some food. The squirrels we're crawling their way up to the top of the tree branches as that was their comfort place to harvest their food even though, it was noisy.

Our feet were still shuffling and crunching through the detritus forest as it annoyed me. Although the sun was setting and shining across my pale white skin like an immortal vampire, I've never really noticed the beauty of nature until now and that's what made me happy. It was admirable and I could stare at it for hours, even though i'm not usually interested into boring stuff, it made me feel at peace and harmony.

I felt a warm hand Sit on my left shoulder as i was still distracted by this forestland.

'Found any Clues yet?'.

I heard a deep voice that I've recognised even though i knew who it was, I didn't answer back.

'Igor ? What are you thinking about ? we shouldn't get distracted, this is important.'

I replied with a raspy voice then let out a forceful release of air.

'No Valentin I didn't find any clues,Anyway what are the other two doing, They seem pretty quiet.'

'No idea' he let out a blear response.

'Anyways we should probably take a break from walking , my toes are hurting and it feels like people are throwing knives at it, Did you guys bring any water ?' I replied back.

'Yes I think Mila brought some , can't remember clearly.I'm so focused on finding Nina ,I mean we all are but right now I feel hopeless. There's no clues so far so we might as well keep going instead of stopping for a break.'

I felt anger build up in me. I decided to stay quiet and not cause any chaos as that's what i usually do.I felt really tired and I felt like i couldn't walk,My ankles were swelling up due to practice and walking around this forest.

I sat down near a old crooked tree and put my backpack on the muddy floor.I took out my water bottle and noticed that there wasn't anything left as i was feeling weak ,tired and lazy i decided to stretch my sore legs , to increase the blood circulation.

I knew that everyone was busy and focusing on finding clues but little did they know is that i was also feeling hopeless. I feel like there isn't much to do and that we should take a step back for a while.

'But I knew that wasn't right'

I took out my magnifying glass and started to explore my surroundings,As I was scanning my eyes for clues, I noticed something under some crunchy brown leaves.It was Footprints 👣,I knew what I saw so i started running over to the others, to discuss the examination I've just done.

'Guys ,Guys I found a clue' I started shouting with determination. 'Footprints'

'Nina's Footprints if I may ask ?' Olivia gave a confusing response towards me.

'Yes and no,it looks even bigger to be hers.She has small feet and I knew what designed boots she was wearing.' I gave a classic response

'Great so far we only found 1 or 2 clues? This is just ridiculous, we're never going to find her with just 1 or 2 clues.' Igor replies with an ignorant response while giving me 'not pleasing to the eye' vibes

'Guys I know we're all feeling hopeless and miserable but let's not be negative ok ? ' I try to uplift their spirits as I was feeling positive after finding our 2nd clue.

'Whatever you say Mila , Igor get your lazy butt up , We might still have hope. Valentin Looks over at Igor with an earnest look.

As Igor was Getting up , i decided to show them the huge footprints printed in the mud. Some we're investigating and some couldn't process what we just found.I knew that it would effect everyone especially finding footprints of an unknown person.

I have this huge feeling that it could be Jake's but i probably shouldn't assume. An hour has passed ,me and the others have decided to keep going.I knew that it would be a bad idea but what I learnt was 'Don't be too timid and squeamish about your actions'.

And that we only live once.

Olivia was The silence in an empty classroom after the unruly students have left.I guess she was imagining something…maybe about Nina.

It's been a few days since her disappearance and Ii regret everything, letting her go out alone, It made me feel like a horrible friend that didn't care about her.At this point i wish i was the one that disappeared instead of her.School doesn't seem the same without her,i miss her a lot.

As I was walking through a trail of leaves, All I could think about was Nina, the memories ,everything.

Risking our lives for our Best Friend means alot.We don't know what kind of Creature is out there but it's worth it.Hopefully we'll be able to find her.

'Hey we'll be able to find her, we just have to find all the clues and hope for the best.I'm sure nothing happened to her, like you said let's be positive and fight for her because we all know she needs us even if she's brave' Adrien said with a smile on his face.

'Let's go , it's starting to become dark' Igor said with a concentrated face.
