countinues from chapter 15
In the early blush of morning, it was Kavin who disturbed the serene silence with his call. The name flashed on Chalee's phone, and he couldn't help but think, *"This fellow has no sense of timing, calling so early."*
Snow lay beside him, deep in slumber, unaffected by the alarm or the persistent ringtone. She was nestled in Chalee's arms, her gentle breaths warm against his chest as she held him close. Not wanting to disturb her peaceful dreams, he slipped in his ear buds and answered the call in a soft whisper.
*"Hello,"* Chalee murmured, his voice barely audible, as if he were whispering secrets in Kavin's ear.
In his typical playful manner, Kavin responded in a hushed tone, mimicking Chalee's greeting.
*"What's the matter?"* Chalee inquired, curiosity tinged with mild annoyance.
Kavin's voice came through, mixed with a soft chuckle, *"Is it really you, Chalee, who I've called?"*
*"Who else could it be? Are you drunk this early?"* Chalee retorted, rolling his eyes.
*"No, I'm not,"* Kavin replied, still whispering with a hint of laughter.
*"Then why call me at this hour?"* Chalee asked, stifling a yawn.
*"When are you two returning to the city?"* Kavin questioned.
*"In about two weeks. Why?"* Chalee answered, wondering what was so urgent.
Kavin's tone turned apologetic, *"Sorry to disturb your vacation, but you need to return to the village by the end of this week."*
*"Not a chance,"* Chalee said firmly, unwilling to cut their time short.
Kavin dropped the bombshell, *"What if I told you Miso and I are getting married next week? Would you still refuse, Mr. Lee?"*
Chalee's eyes widened, *"What?!"* His exclamation was loud enough to wake Snow. She stirred, rubbing her eyes, her face lighting up with a sleepy smile.
Realizing he'd disturbed her, Chalee cursed under his breath, *"Shit, I shouldn't have shouted."*
Snow, still half-dreaming, looked at him with those enchanting morning eyes, her expression saying, *'Seonbae, you're the love of my life.'*
Interrupting the tender moment, Kavin's voice came through the phone, *"Hello, Chalee? Are you there? Hello?"*
Chalee, now distracted by Snow's presence, placed a tender kiss on her forehead, prompting her to say softly, *"Seonbae, the phone is still on the line."*
With a playful grin, Chalee put the phone on speaker, his fingers intertwined with Snow's. *"Kavin, explain everything."*
*"Minju and I are getting married,"* Kavin announced, his excitement palpable through the phone.
Both Chalee and Snow exclaimed in unison, *"Huh?! Really?"*
*"Yes, it's true. See me in three days. We'll wait for you. Bye,"* Kavin said before hanging up.
Chalee tried to respond, but Kavin had already disconnected. *"Hello? Hey... "* he called out in vain.
He turned to Snow, a sad smile playing on his lips, torn between staying with the woman he adored and being there for his friends.
Would Snow be disappointed or understanding? Could they savor these last precious days on the beach before returning to their responsibilities? What surprises awaited at their friends' wedding?
