Ian was greeted with tons of stalls lined up along the streets, and rustic buildings completing the sort of medieval look.
The normal NPC's that stand there and talk to you are now shouting with life, laughing, and kids now run around in the streets playing.
Ian has always felt the game to be a little bland as it had no life in it except the monsters. But now the villagers and shopkeepers behind their stalls are boasting with energy.
Ian's goal was to find the adventurers guild. The place where anyone of any age can sign up and take quests that are put up from the people. It can range from gathering herbs to fighting monsters in the forest's nearby.
Ian, already remembering the layout of Holgun, arrived at the Adventurers Guild. It was a grand building, almost 150 meters tall. It was made from marble and the gold outlining flowed through the seams. There was a set of stairs that you walk up to reach the entrance to the building.
Ian walked through the rounded entrance of the building and was greeted with the same familiar sight he has been seeing for years.
Round wooden table everywhere and the beautiful marble walls made the tables look out of place. The only thing that compliments the marbled walls would be the bar, towards the right side of the building.
Ian walks forward and sees a beautiful girl behind the counter.
"Hello sir!, how can I be of assistance?" The girl asked with beaming smile
The Girl looked to be about 18 with beautiful golden hair tied to a bun. She had crystal clear blue eyes and snow white skin. She wore a beret having the golden lion insignia on the front.
The insignia is the main logo for the entire country of
Wilhelm. Its a golden lion's face looking straight out, making it seem like its looking at the person. It had a beautiful mane and razor sharp teeth. It only looked more menacing and majestic that it had a majestic gold color to it.
"Yeah, I just wanted to register as an adventurer." Ian said
"No problem, let me take out the papers for you. Also please call me Anisa!" Anisa bent under the counter and took out a piece of paper.
It looked like the normal forums you would fill out to be recruited into something. Ian wrote all the basic information and was handed an ID card. It said all his basic information and displayed and in bottom right of the card was the big and bolded letter F.
As soon as Ian got the card he rushed towards the quest board without letting the Receptionist explain the basic information to him.
Ian already knew all the rules. No killing fellow guild members, No stealing or looting from guild members, And lastly to always respond to guild emergencies when requested.
As Ian was looking through the quest board he found a F-rank quest. It stated that herbs needed to be collected in the Skull forest.
At first Ian was surprised that no one took this quest as he could see most of the other F-rank quests were taken.
As Ian went to go pick it up people started murmuring.
"Hey did he really take that quest, does he not know whats been happening?"
"Yeah I know right. He must be a new kid, if someone doesn't stop him he may end up dead."
The murmuring stopped as a big burly man covered in armor approached Ian.
He wore beaten Iron armor across his body, He was completely bald with an iron sword at his hip.
"Hey kid, you shouldn't take that. Have you not heard of the recent happenings?" The man asked concerningly
"Um, no I haven't, can you explain it to me."
"Sure, but first let me introduce myself. The names Sam, a rank D adventurer." The man said confidently
"The names Ian, a rank F adventurer" Ian replied back
"Okay let me explain to you why the forest is so dangerous. You know the low-level undead that spawn there right?"
Ian nodded, indicating that he already knows this.
"Okay, well recently more high leveled monsters are appearing. At least high intermediate tier monsters, almost advanced."
Ian was surprised as usually high tiered monsters rarely spawn in the Skull Forest.
But this only made him boil with more excitement as he wanted to fight a strong enemy, making the death of the monster become nourishment for Ian making him stronger.
"Well, I still want to take this quest. I cant just leave the person requesting the herbs hanging you know?" Ian said jokingly
"Haaa, suit yourself man. Just watch your back and run away when something happens." Sam said seriously
Sam walked back to his table and started conversing with his friends.
Ian walked to the Receptionist and began the quest. Ian had no equipment at the time because he literally had no money.
So Ian walked back outside and greeted the knights that let him in. Ian entered the forest and started looking around for the monsters.
He then encountered an enemy he hasn't encountered yet. It was the Zombie, it had rotting flesh and a broken arm bent at an awkward angle. As Ian drew closer he grabbed the hilt of the sword he got from the skeleton.
He started to smell the putrid rotting smell from the zombie and also heard the distressed groans from it.
Ian then finally decided to launch an attack
"[Dark Chain]!"
Chains instantly sprung up gripping the zombie making it immobile.
Ian ran towards it and swung the sword at its neck but it got lodged halfway through the neck.
Ian tried to pull out the sword but it looks like it was stuck. Ian did not panic however, due to his trait [Iron Will]
Instead he grabbed onto the sword and kicked the zombie to dislodge the sword. As soon as he did the chains fell down and the zombie was running towards Ian.
It launched itself towards Ian but all he did was take a sidestep allowing the zombie to face plant the floor as Ian stabbed the sword through the skull.
[+25 exp]
He now needed to kill one more zombie allowing Ian to level up.
'damn this title is amazing, allowing me to have a 25% increase in exp is nice.' Ian thought
But he knew as soon as he killed the next zombie it would boost the amount of exp he needed significantly and lessened the amount he could earn from low level mobs.
He continued along his walk and stumbled along the herbs he needed, he still needed more so he kept on walking.
While walking he killed 2 more zombies leveling him up.
But he also has been reminded through the system that he can now acquire new skills.
[Congratulations you are now level 5!]
[You have unlocked the Skill Tree!]
[10 stat points have been given]
Ian opened his stat menu and this time allocated half for Intelligence and half for Agility.
Ian totally forgot that he could now raise a dead body to life. Ian casted his spell to awaken the dead zombie.
"[Rise Undead]"
The zombie wriggled its body until it rose back up, this time with black smoke emitting from its pupils and mouth.
Ian now had a better fighting chance as he could attack with the zombie and his own attack.
This time he encountered a group of 4 zombies
He hid in the bushes and casted [Dark chain]
The zombie he's controlling was ordered to attack on sight. The controlled zombie rushed towards the other zombies and starting mauling them.
Ian took chance of the commotion and stabbed two zombies in the head, killing them both instantly and using [Rise Undead] again to make reanimate them.
Now two zombies were left with 3 turned zombies and Ian, the zombies stood no chance.
As Ian reanimated the last two corpses he got the notification.
[Max number of reanimated corpses reached]
[5/5]
[level up this skill to unlock more slots!]
Ian now opened up his skill tree and saw that he has 10 skill points. Leveling his [Rise undead] would make it lvl 2 but it would also make it so that he has to spend double the amount of skill points then before.
So he used 2 skill points to level up [Rise undead] to lvl 2 and 2 also to level up his [Dark Chain]
He know looked at his skill tree as it shows a branch of skills connected to one another. The only skills he could learn now would be
[Weapon Conjuring]-Conjures any bladed weapon, Weapon power will increase every level up, 5 mana per minute. -5 skill points
[Undead Leader]- The more undead you have in your slots the more damage you do, 5% increase in damage power for reanimated corpse and yourself every time a slot is filled. - 6 skill points
[Swap]- Switches places with any of your reanimated corpses, 10 mana per use.- 3 skill points
As Ian already has a sword and would probably eventually gain enough money for a proper one so he didn't pick weapon conjuring.
He also did not pick swap as he did not really have a use for it right now.
He hovered his finger over [Undead Leader] and clicked learn skill.
Power rushed through his body feeling a significant increase, also noticing that his zombies also seem stronger.
