I'd say I was startled but not perplexed because I was aware of owls' nocturnal activity, which explains why they have excellent night vision. The direct eye contact between us was strange, but it was made more stranger when Kalen's sight locked on to mine, revealing that he, too, had amazing vision.

On the other hand, the cheetah woman named Beatrix was perplexed and disturbed, as she was the only one who had no idea what was going on in front of her before she turned on the lights in the dark room.

The white light shone brilliantly on the restrainers, in contrast to my body, which disregarded the light as if it were absorbing it, despite the fact that my physique was apparent, indicating that light was being reflected. Those who see my body will notice a strange and one-of-a-kind sight.

As I glanced at them, the first thing that came to me was their general familiarity. I was about to ask which one carried me when I was halted by Kalen's demanding voice, "What are you?"

To be honest, that was a reasonable question to pose, but not when they are literary equivalents to chimaeras. It was not a question I expected them to ask first, because my body splitting and returning to normal would be more strange unless they fixed me.

I had no idea how to respond to the question that was posed to me. Would I call myself a human being? But how could they possibly believe me?

I can claim to be a demon, but what will they do? I attack or flee? The likelihood of them ignoring the fact that they saved a demon is quite low, and if they do attack me, I have no idea how to protect myself because they most likely dealt with the bear that I failed to kill.

So I decided to respond to the question with another question, hoping that they would dismiss it as me being bashful or something. Oh, no! I forgot I can't talk because I don't have a mouth. This is horrible. I'm not sure how I'm expected to communicate with them.

The uncomfortable pause persisted as we stared at each other until the female began to get irritated and broke the silence, "You ungrateful peace of shit, answer the question, what are you, mute?" as she moved forward with hostility before being stopped by Kalen.

Before another word could come out of the mouth of either of these three, I nodded my head in an attempt to portray that I actually am mute and incapable of speech. I mean can't they see that I have no mouth?

The face of the three chimeras was something I would laugh at forever as they looked more stunned then me when I saw the bear's power. Especially the woman who tried to make fun of the idea a second before.

The chamber was silent once more as the owl chimaera withdrew and returned with a piece of paper for us to use as a means of communication. Following that, the piece of paper was placed in front of me, while one made a step forward and approached my restrainers, unlocked them, and freed me from what they believed could restrain me.

"Once again, what are you?" said their leader, Kalen or who I assumed was their leader.

The same difficult question was addressed again, and I couldn't really avoid it because I couldn't simply chat and shift the subject. Changing the subject with writing is not easy. It feels like a weird and unusual task.

Since they've defeated the bear, I'll just have to tell them the truth because I know I can't beat them. There's no point in lying or doing anything risky like claiming to be a demon. I then start to write the word, HUMAN.

The reaction on their faces was not something special as if they expected that this might happen except the female which just looked away as if she was pissed at my answer.

"A human? you do not look..." said the female before Kalen interrupted her and said, "And your story is?".

I was honestly confused, my story?

Did he want me to prove that I am a human or say why I look like a monster?

"If you are a human, then why do you look like...whatever this it?" said Kalen as if he had read my mind simply from my actions and behavior.

I then simply put a basic summery on the paper that said, "woke up to this", simple yet enough.

Again, these people's reactions were far too blank for me to call them usual. I mean, isn't it supposed to be stunning or unbelievable for a human to transform into a demon simply by waking up?

"huuhh, another one. Well I'm called Kalen around here, this is Beatrix and finally there is Owlvin." sighed Kalen as if this was a common occurrence for him.

"We are a group of humans similar to you, well one day we all just changed, our physical bodies were no longer that of a human. Some of us woke up to see the change while others had this happen to them in a different manner."

"We still do not really know what causes this but we know that it is something that happens and we try our best to avoid society and other humans in order to keep our heads. That is why we came upon you and took you." Continued Kalen.

Hmm, that actually makes sense but why do they look like animals when I look like a demon? Well whatever it is, It doesn't change much so I try to inquire about the bear, "What happened to the bear?" I wrote on the paper.

He responded with a surprised look on his face, "You don't know? perhaps your memory is still in jumbles or something. It was dead when we arrived. The only one alive was you who did not even have a single wound on you. To be honest, it is impressive to take down a bear which is why you will be useful to us. Welcome to our community."

Wait what? My body was fully normal when they rescued me?

The bear was already dead?

I was perplexed, and the only explanation I could think of was that the bear had perished as a result of my punch in its neck, which may have triggered its wrath. That makes sense; it was attempting a final attack before dying. A final effort to deal with its target.

In terms of my body, I suppose the grains just linked together, but how? When my body loses grain, it just loses it, and it never reattaches it. This is something I need to look into. Another piece of positive news is that I am stronger than these chimaeras, most likely since they did not kill the bear, but I cannot take chances because I need more information.

I was kind of pissed, I feared them so I limited my options when making decisions but at the end they might not even be a threat, TCH.

"Follow us to the rest of the community, we will introduce you to the rest while giving you more details." Kalen said while interrupting my thoughts.
