I concluded again that this man was a mischievous and trouble maker, and the crusade to improve the company was to be carried alone. Also I didn't want to waste time and energy unnecessarily to improve the man and even to punish him in any way; which only meant getting into the vortex of events where bureaucracy keeps on fishing and adding dirty tricks mainly guided by their political bosses. The game included malpractices and corrupt working making money in any manner and put executives in serious trouble at the end. It became clearer that both ways you could be in trouble, by not participating in this dirty game or also getting into it. Our system is tuned to inefficient working and delayed processes without bothering losses to exchequer and building funds through taxing service class and enhancing rates after each revision in pay structure, even sparing business class who work as financer in elections. Some day the system would burst and people would agitate severely and protest strongly. But then our perforated democracy and governance would become vulnerable to terrorists, naxalism and other disruptive movements; and our neighbors and even leading economics in the globe; this should be realized early by the government for the security of our nation. Right now my responsibility was to improve this company. I am heading and feel satisfied after my retirement for doing some service to our country and people. This became clearer and I started increasing my patience as; "Body muscles are developed in stages, similarly patience is built in days and months"; and this was the only solution.
Once setting objectives I with a small team of understandable and hard working fellows were after increasing the order-book and timely execution and completion of works. The fund started flowing and in every review meeting by the minister we got a satisfactory report. The losses were reduced and attention was paid to line up payments to contractors and employees in installments, which arrived after mutual discussion and also settled legal cases out of court. On which we received appreciation from the Hon High Court which was a great satisfaction. I painfully explained to all clients our approach and was liked by them, thinking 'better late than never' situation. We opened our door to all interested agencies who accepted our system modified for mutual benefit, altering some provisions by adopting a legal approach and also ensuring lesser laundering of funds. Our accounting improved even after limited participation by the Director and many times overruling his ideas and decisions. In the first government audit objections were raised which were to be settled by the Director, and he failed and quarreled with the auditor. I took up the matter and settled the issues as those were according to rules and got no comments yearly account, which was again a feat after many years. I managed to settle some controversies and differences with our old clients in steel plants. One very old case in one of the steel plants was pending for almost a decade, created by officers of this company, mainly a complex ego clash "who is superior" while the company suffered for years and employee dues remained unpaid
