Volume 1: A new zodiac knight is summoned

Chapter 1: Summoned
(And so it happened the zodiac knights fought bravely a fierce battle the very earth beneath them scorched with fire a battle against the white dragon emperor one who has harnessed the power of the dragons is not a threat to be taken lightly the capital was in flames 9 of the zodiacs protecting and evacuating civilians and to face the white dragon emperor stood but 3 knights Leo leader of the zodiacs and most powerful of them Aries one who has seen countless battles and Taurus raw strength unrivalled by others and so the faced down this dragon and all three of them gave their lives to ensure peace followed)
Queen: (Standing firm to the other nine) we must make sure their sacrifices were not in vain we must summon three new knights go forth gemstones of Leo the lion, Taurus the bull and Aries the ram chose well.
(and as the queen commanded the gemstones went in search of new knights worthy of the zodiac Leo was the first to be found second was Taurus but Aries took the longest to find 7 years had passed since the queen ordered the gemstones to find new knights and finally Aries was found summoned from a small village his name is Kai)
Kai: (Waking up dizzy from the teleportation vision blurred) where am I?
Queen: (With a soft voice) You are in the kingdom of Goruden and this is my castle. We have been waiting for you for seven years it's the longest that a gemstone has taken to summon a new zodiac knight.
Kai: (Confused look crossed his face upon hearing her words or perhaps it was her beauty that over threw him) Zodiac knight what are you talking about I'm no knight I'm just a commoner such things are meant for royalty and people born into greatness your gemstone made a mistake take it back and search for someone different.
Queen: (Surprised and shocked that someone would refuse the knights) There is no mistake in the matter you were chosen by Almandine garnet your birthstone and it did not make a mistake. Can you walk Kai?
Kai: (Still with fear and doubt in his hear he answered) Yes I can
Queen: Very well walk with me and I'll introduce you to the other knights it will put your troubled heart at ease.
(As they walked the queen explained that being chosen by a gem stone to be a knight is a great honour and there were many before him to be the Aries zodiac. Their duty was to ensure the safety of a kingdom and all of her people. She also revealed that while they can be killed they are in a sense immortal now and will never again age or die of natural causes. As they reached the throne room Leo the strongest of the zodiac was waiting for the queen and you.)
Kai: ( With a calmer expression on his face and more relaxed) well thank you my lady I apologize for my rudeness earlier, but still I do not know why I was chosen by this stone to be a knight these things are stories told around campfires by bards and story tellers I do not belong here.
Queen: Well the stone chose you and it does not make mistakes it saw something in you that none have yet seen.
(Leo the leader stood with a menacing look and Kai had sensed this and felt uneasy Leo was a well lady killer golden hair to match his golden armour and green eyes that I suspect not even the queen could resist and tall standing at 6 feet 5 inches tall I'm sure he had all the women the guy you just want to hate from first glance and royalty.)
Leo: My queen we need not bother with this peasant man he is just a number for us to even the knights at 12. We have done fine without him for seven years the kingdom is prospering.
Kai: (His expression changed and had a serious look on his face now) peasant I may be at least I do not look and trample upon the weak and innocent.
Queen: Enough both of you we are here to get along and finally reunite the 12 zodiac knights I will return to my chambers and prepare to summon the other 10 knights.
(As they waited for hours for the queen to return Leo had left and Kai remained waiting. He decided to make his way to her room and at the door he approached.)
Kai: (Knocking on door) your grace I request permission to enter your servants are worried and I know this sounds ridiculous they said only a knight may enter it sounds like a perv move I know.
(With no answer at her room Kai prepared to enter as the servants told him the queen was in poor health she was not immune to sickness like the knights were.)
Kai: I'm coming in please forgive me( as he looked up he saw in horror her body impaled by a sword in her stomach her eyes not yet dead) my queen what happened!? Who did this to you?
Queen: Head east(She whispers with a faint voice her final breath left her body)
Kai: SOMEBODY HELP THE QUEEN HAS BEEN KILLED(the sight was sad she seemed full of life in their brief introduction he thought to himself)
(Guards rushed in and a mage a healer but there was nothing that could be done. In Kai's mind this did not look good he was new and now the queen was murdered. With no heir to the throne it fell to Leo to take the seat of king and rule as he was leader of the zodiacs he was most fit to rule there were no objections.)
Leo: (upon his throne) bring me Kai I will judge him now he was the one who found the queen is he not.
(moments later in chains Kai was before the new king)
Leo: (With a mocking tone) Well first day on the job and the queen is dead you pathetic knight we do not need you here. I can not execute you because I need the permission of at least 6 fellow knights and the old fools voted in your favour( a sign of disgust on his face) no matter I can exile you from the kingdom and from the knights. You may not return here again if you do you will be killed publicly.
Kai: (With shock and relief that he was not dying today but exiled) I see I have no chance and exile is better than death.
Leo: A wise choice
(Kai left the capital and headed east as the queen told him but in his mind he wondered what lay east what is he meant to find. One thing was for sure he was set up the queen knew this and sent him to look for who knows what.)
The road was long as he began his journey east wondering what to look for. For days he travelled until he reached the eastern kingdom. Upon entering he heard a strange voice.
Voice: foolish man you dare wander to the kingdom of the dragons I shall eat you and pick my teeth clean with your bones I the mighty ice dragon Reyna!!
Kai: (Looking confused at the small dragon like creature talking to him no more than 50cm tall that looked like a normal dragon you see in western tales) Uhhh Reyna right? Are you sure you are a dragon you well look like a giant lizard to me.
Reyna: ( A look of surprise passed on her face from shock) A lizard you dare compare me to a lizard? I'll have you know I can talk that proves I'm a dragon and not a common lizard.
Kai: Well I apologize then to you I had no idea there was talking lizards and normal lizard that don't talk. I bet the normal lizards love you a flying talking lizard, you can at least fly right?
Reyna: (A faint sign of anger on her face) Well yes all TRUE dragons can fly! And I'll show you
(Reyna lifts off and takes Kai by the back of his coat and flies up with him, unknown to her Kai is uneasy when it comes to heights)
Kai: YOU CRAZY DRAGON ARE YOU TRYING TO GIVE ME A HEART ATTACK.
Reyna: Well no I just needed to prove a point that I am in fact a actual DRAGON and not a lizard, I'll put you down now human.
Kai: (Out of breath and leaning on a tree to catch his breath) Well point proven lady. Now that I have a chance what do you want from me.
Reyna: Well you see I am in need of assistance to help me grow further.
Kai: I'm sure you'll grow more your still a young dragon don't rush to grow up.
Reyna: (Blushes and eyes sparkling) Really thank you I'm a thousand years old but I'm sure I can get taller and bigger.
Kai: (Mouth opened and shocked) A thousand years old!! Well your all grown up you're not getting taller than that sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
Reyna: Noooo my dreams. I guess my only choice now is to accompany you so I may search for a way to lift the spell that shrunk me and sealed away my power.
Kai: Wait a minute you mean to tell me you have not found a way to lift a spell from you, and what is this about coming with me? You did not even ask me.
Reyna: well I'm telling now or do you want to fly again?
Kai: No more flying!! I haven't agreed to anything yet tell me about this spell or curse first before it starts to affect me and I start shrinking to.
Reyna: You won't shrink, well you see I was supposed to keep an eye on our border and I just stopped for a quick nap and the next thing I know our treasures were stolen and my aunt abducted, we got her back but my parents were very upset and placed a spell on me for my punishment my power sealed away and I'm shrunk. And that's about it and I've been waiting for a lost traveller to travel with as the dragon oracle predicted. 'you will meet a traveller at the eastern border with dark brown medium length hair very dark brown eyes who is short and kind of muscular and he shall help you lift the spell"
Kai: well that's oddly specific and while I may fit in those criteria I'm actually 5'9. Uhh now that I think about it I'm kind of on the sort side. Anyway you are rude did not even bother to ask me my name.
Reyna: You see I know your name is Kai I can see into your mind and memories and more I know whom you seek.
Kai: (With a serious expression now.) You know why the queen sent me east to this land?
Reyna: Yes, she sent you to find her sister only she can help you from exile and return to the capital Leo will not make it easy because she like you is in exile because of his doing.
Kai: Impossible how can one knight have so much influence with the queen and how do you even know all of this?
Reyna: I'm a dragon we are not naïve besides it was I who helped her start anew here this part of the kingdom is filled with all manner of creatures from elves to lamias to centaurs and even dragons its easy to disappear here and no one will care to look here they simply do not care.
Kai: Are you telling me that no one would think to look here for her?
Reyna: No they are fools not to look here because this land is full of exiles from the capital.
Kai: So then the only way to get back there is for you to go with me and take me to her so we can clean up this Leo mess and get out of exile?
Reyna: And you my friend just guessed the jackpot. So shall we go further east so we might find your new queen.
Kai: Very well I guess we have no choice.
Reyna: Then I Reyna the mighty ice dragon name you Kai my champion from now on we shall be together.
Kai: (Shocked) Champion?? That's moving fast isn't it? Uhh very well im just not going to argue lets go, how much further?
Reyna: (Proud to have a champion) Well on foot another three days walk east.
Kai: THREE DAYS!! Well no time like the present lets get walking.
(Reyna flies and sits on Kai's shoulder as they begin heading east to find the queens sister so they might find a way to undo this exile so Kai can return home again.)
