Chapter 1 - Anko Sawaguchi

In the stillness of the night that was so cold and snowflakes fell from the blue sky, from behind the window of a room that was not so wide... someone was staring at the computer screen, her beautiful fingers dancing on the keyboard. Sometimes, she pressed the keyboard hard when she felt she had no chance in her life anymore.

However, who would have thought...

She who has lived several years staring at this computer screen is a professional gamer.

"Let's go, let's go, let's go!!" she exclaimed excitedly. As much as possible she designed her room to be soundproof so that her screams did not cause noise effects for her neighbors.

She also rarely leaves the room, for her playing games in her life...

It didn't matter even though she had a bachelor's degree, and generally, she was considered unemployed for a quarter of a century, but that didn't discourage her.

"It's up to you what you call it," but, once she had won a full day's matches in a row, only notifications from her cell phone proved that she was working.

"2 million Yen has been transferred to the bank account," she uses mobile banking, and once a week her bank balance is filled.

So fabulous!!

"Fuaaah~ already ended~" She immediately squirmed in her gaming chair which was already hot.

'I can't believe the earth is rotating so fast and now it's morning.'

She also yawned indicating that she had not slept at all, winning this is the fate of a gamer who has been successful and must maintain her ranking to always be at the top, winning matches in every tournament, many award badges that have been obtained.

In the end, she who fell asleep even though only for a moment was still haunted by the same question, "How long are you going to lock yourself up? And what has been your bachelor's degree for?"

She woke up, thinking about it...

She still saw a book that still looked good on her cupboard, that was her thesis because she loved games so much that she tried to make a game in her thesis at that time.

"..." She remembered her days in lectures, it looks very boring. Of course, this world is only filled with people who often make fun of and bring down others.

That day, before she became a professional gamer...

"My name is Anko Sawaguchi, from now on I will work here." She had just worked part-time as a waitress at a coffee shop.

At first, it was indeed a peaceful place, she worked to earn extra money to work on the final project she had designed in the form of the proposal.

The lecturer also agreed with the idea, and she even supported it by finding the best references and validators to test the results.

However, an incident happened to her where the job at that time involved her working overtime.

Strange! Once part-time workers are asked to work overtime with the lure of additional pocket money. Seriously! The atmosphere at night was different from the daytime.

She had a customer who made her have to sell a little of her pride. The cafe was deserted and she was there alone with one of the waiters again. The boss is out too, Anko feels for sure this is a trap for herself!!

Anko has no experience with men and she can't serve her well.

The atmosphere in the cafe had changed to that of a nightclub. A few parts of Anko's body were exposed which made it viral on social media.

Since then, Anko never wanted to work outside again. The money she earned during the last time she used to complete her final task, of course, the game she developed did not live up to expectations due to a lack of funds.

The lecturer who had supported her was disappointed and made Anko lose her hope of living again.

The last words someone said to her were, "You can't be trusted,"

"You are unemployed, scum of society," even her 10-year-old brother berated her at that time.

Anko chose to leave this sick life, she didn't even come to her school graduation ceremony.

Her mother felt guilty for having kicked out the only daughter in her family.

Well, right, now regret?

Anko proves, that even though she is considered a weasel even if only an Otaku is addicted to this game she can be successful!!

One day, she tried to stay at a friend's house not far from the center of the city in Tokyo. Her friend who has the same hobby as her invites Anko to join the biggest event called a Comiket.

Anko does have the skills to design characters since she has been able to make her own game even though the results are disappointing. But, for her friend, it was enough!

With this mediocre capital, Anko finally gave it a try.

The collaborative work was a great success!!

Anko tries to live independently by renting a small apartment that can only fit 1 person from the sale of her collaborative work at a Comiket event.

A few months after that, there was nothing else Anko could do but be idle in her apartment. She tried to find the latest game that was released that year to reduce her boredom in the apartment. She was walking around town in a shopping center plastered with a game ad for 1 bitcoin.

"Huh? Is it true?" Anko said so surprised to see her. So where can I get this game? she thought.

She quickly popped into the nearby internet cafe there, looking for the address on the flyer advertising the game.

'Not found,' Ah~ that's right, how could there be a game with such fantastic prizes?

It's so unreal...

However, Anko did not give up, she tried to practice her skills in the match games she had tried.

For her, playing the game is her identity.

Then, on an online game server, Anko received a message to join a party organized by the recently released RPG-based game.

If the party she joined wins, then she will get 1 Million Yen.

"Oi, oi, is that true?"

The person who invited her tried to explain well that this wasn't a scam. This is a great offer!!

Thanks to her daring to try that, she is now a professional gamer who has made a lot of money.

That's the path to success but, she doesn't forget to spend time as a doujinshi once every 6 months, in summer and winter she participates in Comiket events with friends who have helped her at that time.

December this year...

Just counting the days to immediately showcase her new work at the event.

"How is it Anko, are you ready?" asked a friend from the incoming message on her Smartphone.

"Just a little more..." Soon the drawing would be perfect with the lines that were the finishing touches of Anko's hand.

Of course, drawing is not easy, especially when staring at a computer screen makes your eyes sore.

"Ah~ it's finally over~"

On the weekend, Anko can prepare earlier.

Of course, after finishing her project, she returned to spend her time playing games as usual accompanied by Konpeito (Japanese sugar candy) and some chips for snacks while playing the game.

"Eh!?" she said surprised to see that the packet of chips on the edge of her keyboard was empty even though it was her favorite snack, and without eating it her mood became messy.

"Sorry everyone, I'll be offline first," Anko said goodbye to some of her friends in the game.

"Why you so bumpy off first?" one of her friends asked Anko.

"Hehe, yes."

[Milkyway Offline] is the name of her game account, and she is often mistaken for a man with a dashing avatar.

However, Anko deliberately designed the character in the game to be a man.

She had previously told her friends to keep her avatar when she was offline in the open because she was afraid that an enemy would attack suddenly.

Anko wouldn't log out just because she was looking for chips at the convenience store.

Luckily Anko has good friends in the game who are willing to take care of her avatar.

Anko rushed to find her thick coat and quickly put it on. Before leaving, she didn't forget to lock her apartment.

As soon as she came out, she saw that many people were busy with their work. She thought, how long would she keep locking herself in a small room playing games like that?

________

Yes, that was the life of Anko Sawaguchi.

Aphorisms from the author: Don't be discouraged or hurt even though we are seen as scum of society, because people who look down on us may not be as successful as we are.
