Chapter 17 - Who's The Winner? Duyi vs. Bohai

Goosebumps raised on the three spectator's spines, as a threatening killing intent flowed through Tan Huizhong's backyard. The two boys, Tan Duyi and Chen Bohai, stood before one another; both of them ready to fight one another.

Everyone, including Tan Huizhong, had thought that Bohai would not be able to compare to Tan Duyi - who had been training since the day he turned five years old. But, the killing intent released by Bohai was more than enough to make them change their speculations. The outcome wouldn't be known until the fight was over.

Xu Qingling, who was watching from inside of the house, couldn't help but shudder at the sight before her. It was horrific how fast things had came to be. Only five minutes beforehand, the father-son duo had marched inside the house.

They demanded Chen Bohai to be thrown out. He was a danger to the entire clan, and they'd have nothing to do with him. It had angered Huizhong so much, that he had recklessly made a bet.

"If Bohai beats Duyi in a spar, then I will kick him out myself. If not, you will shut up and never say his real name to anyone!"

Tan Huizhong had yelled. He was annoyed, after a long journey with multiple unexpected outcomes. All he wanted to do was fall asleep, after having one of Qingling's yummy meals. He hadn't even considered the fact that he may have to kick out his new disciple.

And now, the two were actually fighting.

Bohai had been marked the underdog immediately, but now as he released his eager killing intent, everyone reevaluated their thoughts. The winner was unclear yet, and they anxiously waited for the results to come in.

Tan Duyi had more practice. He knew more techniques, and had better mastery over the techniques he knew. However, he had never been in a real fight. Chen Bohai had been in countless real fights, he had more experience.

As Duyi waited for an ethical attack, Bohai provoked him by teasing him. He'd feign going left, then right, then stay still as he waited for his killing intent to scare the arrogant boy. Finally, after a minute of doing so, Duyi couldn't wait any longer. He rushed in with a planned attack.

Without real experience, Duyi could've never expected Bohai to not follow through the defensive steps that he had been taught. He was shocked when Bohai simply ducked, rather than spinning to his left or right. The short moment of shock that overtook him, gave Bohai the perfect chance.

Bohai enveloped three of his fingers as he sprang upwards. As Duyi's eyes opened wide in surprise, Bohai pretended to go for a sweeping kick and instead pierced his opponent's rib cage with his three fingers.

Duyi was sent flying, but quickly regained his composure. To stop his fall, he copied the technique that Tan Huizhong had used to save Bohai's life from Qingling. He had manipulated his chi, making a pillow for him to fall into. The black aura was invisible to Qingling, but it thoroughly shocked Bohai. He had never seen such a pretty version of darkness.

Duyi didn't hesitate to charge once again after being humiliated. But, this time, he wasn't going to underestimate his opponent. He stood from his pillow, and activated a technique that enabled him to teleport to Bohai's side.

Before Bohai could even blink, Duyi had hit him a with a solid punch to the face. He was sent flying to the edge of the field, and immediately his face began to bruise and swell. From the inside of the house, Qingling screamed with anger. 'How dare he hit his precious face!' She beseeched.

Bohai was in awe, as he got up. His face hurt, a lot. He didn't even know what to think of what had just happened; he had never seen something like it.

As he was thinking of what to do next, Duyi attacked once again. This time, he had teleported besides him once again and activated his chi again. Once he teleported besides him, he manipulated his chi to lock Bohai in place.

Before Bohai knew what had happened, his feet were stuck in place and slowly being crushed by the same black aura that Duyi had used before.

Not knowing what was going on made Bohai wreathe in frustration. He hadn't felt this way in years. When he would do his monthly tests with his brothers, more than ten years ago, he would always marvel at the magic Geming and Shi could perform. Of course, it wasn't magic, but to him it was.

He got jealous after a while, because there was no way for him to compete with the two. So, one day, he sneaked in to watch a lesson. He had been lucky, it was when Shi was learning a brand new technique.

After that one lesson, Bohai had come back everyday to learn it with his brother - in secret. After a year, he had progressed incredibly. It was the only skill he knew, other than the enhancement skill.

Mad that he only knew one skill, Bohai's frustration surfaced. His killing intent became even stronger, and he suddenly enveloped himself in a translucent aura. It was just in time, for Duyi had charged at him with a powerful fist covered in a black aura.

The hit hurt, and he sprained both of his ankles because he couldn't stumble back with the hit. But, the damage could've been a thousand times worse. In fact, he could've died if not for the aura he covered himself in the last second.

The pain fueled up Bohai's adrenaline, and suddenly he found a way to escape from the foothold. Remembering the technique he hadn't practiced in a few years, he was suddenly becoming the color of his aura - transparent.

He punched the blackness that held onto him, until it loosened enough for him to slip his feet out. His hands were bleeding from the impact of the punches, but the adrenaline made him forgot the pain.

As he became invisible, a sinister intent was released. Tan Huizhong was the only one who recognized the technique, but Tan Pengfei sensed the danger. They both immediately went to stop the fight.

Neither could see Bohai, but they knew his target - Tan Duyi. So they both went to him. They stopped the fight immediately, much to both boy's dismay.

Chen Bohai had planned to kill Duyi, right there and then, but right as he was about to do it, Tan Huizhong had blocked his way. He had almost accidentally killed his grandfather's friend. Luckily, he had been able to stop himself.

As he stopped himself, the killing intent and sinister aura dispersed and Bohai became normal again. As he stood on his feet again, he collapsed onto the floor and held onto his ankles as he wriggled in pain.

Tan Duyi, who was being shielded by his father and grandfather, didn't even know what had happened. He had failed to kill Bohai, and then he had his life flash before his eyes. Bohai had become invisible, but somehow he could still see him. It was as if he had become possessed though, he couldn't move no matter how much he wanted to run away. It was the most scared he had ever been.
