-Inside Danitour's mind, back during Breckus' final assault on Krugi-
This is it, the final push against Krugi. The Light Legion is well on their way to push them off, one of our Yomies managed to convince an elite to spare us.
But they have one more challenge if they want to push them back from Krugi. Breckus is keen on claiming this city, going as far as to make highly guarded areas around.
These guys would give them everything they've got to keep their foot on our backs.
I walked out from under an underground tunnel I helped make. The Yonies will stay down there until the coast is clear. I hope no one finds the opening.
Everyone else prepared to give Breckus their all. We are exhausted and furious, but we still want to keep Krugi safe.
I watched Yomies hug and kiss their Yonies one final time before putting them inside the tunnel. To me, it was a possible last goodbye.
"Hey, Danitour, ready for another day in combat?" a Yomie called out.
"My options boil down to yes, can't say no anyways. How's your Yonie?"
She smiled and pointed down at the opening. "Devas is down there hugging his friends for comfort."
"Gotcha. Well, Velta, let's go to the eastern wall. That's where they need us the most!" I confidently replied.
Little did we know we were stepping away from a dream, only to return to a nightmare.
-After the siege began-
My swipes, punches, and kicks all connected with a target. No one was going to stand after I rampaged my way through this horde.
But the same couldn't be said for the ones around me. Despite our undying fight, all the negative conditions have caught up to us.
More specifically, I saw Breckus' Ferals effortlessly take care of my allies. I witnessed one cut through Velta's leg armor. She began clawing at the ground, hoping to crawl away.
The Feral responsible just stared at her. She wasn't showing any mercy to Velta. Instead, she appeared to toy with her.
She grabbed Velta by the exposed bone and drag her back. The Feral looked into her eyes once more, then jumped on her stomach. She dug her claws into Velta's stomach and chest.
After that Feral was done, she stood up. When I looked down at Velta's corpse, I realized her body was barely the same. That wasn't a Yomie, that was a pile of spoiling gore.
"RETREAT, DANITOUR, RETREAT!" someone else yelled over.
I was shocked, there was no way a Feral had the guts to do something like this. But I didn't want to die, so I followed orders.
My pace quickened and got back into Krugi's walls. The gates closed behind me. My eyes shifted towards the tunnel where the Yonies were kept. To my horror, there were Ferals right on top.
These Ferals seemed skinnier than one should be, and behaved differently.
"THEY ARE STARVING FERALS IN KRUGI! FIGHT THEM OFF!" the same Prime from earlier cried out.
My hands shifted down to my blade again, then I ran as fast as I could to protect the Yonies. Other Yomies stormed towards them as well.
Just as we arrived, I saw something that nearly made me faint.
A Feral tossed a Yonie to another, they caught it and sniffed the frightened little guy. She eerily smiled at him before closing her eyes and biting the back of the Yonie's neck.
That Feral just took the life of a Yonie, and now was beginning to eat the body. She took bits off the shoulders, back, and neck. Before an enraged Yomie tackled her.
The Feral fell down on the dead grass. She attempted to get back up, but the Yomie stomped on its head.
"TANISHU!!" the same Yomie cried out while running towards the dead Yonie.
I realized that was her mate. She just witnessed her own mate get eaten right in front of her. That sight... the blood on her foot... the Yonie in her hands... the desperate cries...
All of that... Ferals, they are heartless. Ferals don't deserve mercy. They eat other Variants for food, without caring about the impact.
My stomach turned. I unleashed a war cry and quickly slaughtered the Ferals nearby. I used my sword not to kill, but to injure.
I wanted them all to die a painful and slow death by bleeding out. But I'm aware no matter how many Ferals I damage, there will always be more out there. And my thirst for their blood will never run out.
-Back in present day, over where the tunnel was-
Danitour silently stood over a stone slab with some words written over it.
"For our beloved Yonies and Yomies," the slab said.
A tear rolled down his cheek and fell down on it. Every Thresher who used to live inside Krugi died out during the attempted invasions. So many horrible memories linger.
"Hey, Danitour, are you alright?" Oria abruptly asked.
He quickly broke out of his trance and looked over at the curious Feral. Oria held her hands behind her back and tried to make herself seem as small as possible.
"I'd appreciate it if you left me alone," he angrily replied.
"It has something to do with Ferals, doesn't it?" Oria growled. "Say it then. I noticed your behavior and distaste for my kind. Tell me, what is it?"
"Oria... back off... or else..." Danitour sharply replied.
Instead of listening to him, Oria revealed one hand. Her claws yearned for something to scratch.
"Or else what?" she smirked.
Danitour calmly looked into her eyes before tackling her. Oria flew backwards, landing at the foot of the crowd.
"Huh?" he murmured.
A crowd formed around the two during their interaction. Danitour didn't notice them there, but he also didn't notice someone behind.
Ether grabbed him by the shoulder and forced him to turn around. He unleashed a powerful punch against Danitour's face, causing his nose to bleed.
"As if this entire interaction was needed. She was looking out for you, and you tackle her like this?" Ether asked in disbelief.
Valentine quickly attempted to break the fight up, but Ether was seething with anger.
"IF ONLY YOU UNDERSTOOD!" Danitour yelled at Ether.
"THEN OPEN YOUR FUCKING MOUTH AND SPEAK YOU FUCKING IDIOT! WE ARE A TEAM, A LEGION, IF WE WANT TO REACH OUR GOAL THEN WE NEED TO WORK TOGETHER!" Ether furiously replied.
Danitour got up and wiped the blood off his nose, then rose his arms to fight Ether.
He wasn't having any of it, Ether quickly tackled Danitour back to the ground and planted his knee on his chest.
Valentine attempted to force Ether off Danitour, but he wasn't moving. Ether began to repeatedly beat Danitour across the face.
Soon, he began bleeding from his lip and cheek. Before Ether could land another hit, a familiar hand stopped him.
"Let him go, Ether," Oria asked.
