Chapter 58 - Legion Clash

Today, Digon stood incredibly silent. No strong winds, no heavy snow, everything was still. As if Digon itself was watching the fight take place.

A massive cloud shaded the ground below, Ether looked up to see what it was. He watched a volley of arrows rain down towards the incoming Light Legion.

While each arrow connected to a target, Ether remembered the horrible things he went through because of the Light Legion. His brother's death, the agony of watching Demon suffer, and Jakery's fight with him.

It was time to let that anger out.

Ether banged on the side of the wall. "LET'S BRING THEM ALL TO HELL!"

Frosticus and Infinus warriors alike dropped from the wall. Their weapons and armors ready for the incoming slaughter.

Ether gripped Tellendor tight then charged forward, with the warriors following behind. As the two sides got closer to each other, Ether realized just how different a full scale fight is.

Siege Weavers danced overhead before picking a zone to crash into. They mindlessly dug headfirst into the ground, disappearing beneath while leaving a pool of electricity or fire.

Then the Weavers reappeared somewhere else, leaving behind the same pool. Those unlucky enough to have gotten caught inside the Weaver's path suffered horrible deaths.

Ether leapt into the air, then picked a target. Four Light Legion warriors attempted to begin the up-front attack, but these were the unlucky victims.

He used one hand to grab Tellendor by the blade and kept the other on the grip. Ether attempted to dig the weapon into the chest of a target, but their armor was strange.

Instead of digging into his targets, Tellendor simply slid off. Ether instantly understood what was happening, these were modified to withstand direct stabs.

Now in the middle of the action, Ether had to act quickly. Before he could change his methods, two attackers drew their weapons.

One came in with twin battle-axes, they struck Ether downwards. The hit connected, sending him to his knees. Before he could recover, the other attacker slammed the head of a mace against his back.

Ether became enraged, he needed to escape this punishment. He brushed off the pain and sunk Tellendor into the snow, then attempted to grab one of the battle-axes from an attacker.

They fought for control over the weapon, letting the other attacker wrap their mace around Ether's neck. They pulled back hoping to rip Ether away from their ally, but the only thing they did was make him even more mad.

He elbowed the attacker behind him, then grabbed their mace. With their grip loose, he was able to spin around and rip the weapon away.

Ether used the mace to beat the attacker across the face until they stopped moving, then their ally came to help. They brought both axes down on Ether again.

But he was not having it. He caught them with the mace, then charged forward. He pushed his opponent back against a shield of another Light Legion warrior.

Then he grabbed the mace and struck them once. That single hit turned their head into a bloody explosion covering everyone behind.

"YOU MONSTER!" the Light Legion defender screamed.

Ether ignored forced the shield away from them, then ripped a piece of their armor off. The edges were sharp enough to cut through cloth. So Ether drove it into the neck of the defender.

He tore the shield off the corpse, then brought it in front of him.

The same dark cloud from earlier rained down again. Arrows landed all around the battlefield, even on Ether.

But these arrows didn't bother him, he wanted the Light Legion's blood. He charged forward, knocking an unexpecting Light Legion warrior down.

As he walked up to them to finish the deal, they tried crawling away. But Ether wouldn't let them, he grabbed the shield with both hands then brought it down against their head.

"Ether, here's your Tellendor!" Jakery called out to him.

He turned his head to watch Jakery bring it to him, but doing that was a mistake. Another Light Legion attacker bashed a mace against his head. Knocking him down against the snow.

Ether attempted to fight back but they planted their foot on his chest. Then the attacker rose the mace over their head and struck his head.

"NOO!" Jakery cried out.

Despite not completely forgiving Ether for trying to get rid of his Yonie side, Jakery still loved his older brother. Watching him get brutally punished before his eyes enraged him.

Jakery gripped Tellendor just as Ether once did, then he took aim. Tellendor followed his eyes, the blade found its way through the neck of Ether's attacker.

"Hey, Ether, get up! A - are you okay? Ether??" Jakery frantically said.

"D - did you just... kill that guy?" Ether ignored Jakery's question.

"Yes," he replied.

Ether chuckled. "That's my little bro. Gimme Tellendor and grab your daggers, these idiots deserve a life in hell."

Jakery handed Ether Tellendor, then unsheathed both of his daggers. He wasn't planning on fighting, he instead hoped to bring the injured back into Frosticus' walls where they would heal them.

But this all flipped a switch inside his mind. Jakery understood it wasn't about playing nice, it's about playing how others want to play.

Ether grabbed Tellendor by the blade, then used the guards as a weapon. This was a skill he would always use because of its effectiveness. Wielding an armor-breaking and flesh cutting weapon at the same time gave an upper hand.

Jakery jumped up and dug both daggers into the neck of a Light Legion swordsman. He stared into their faceless helmet as they passed away, making sure they wouldn't hurt Ether again.

He retracted his daggers then slid under the next challenger, allowing Ether to make a clean takedown.

Before they continued down Digon, a Light Legion Sky Beast crash landed beside them. The rider and the beast were fried. Their corpses silently steamed.

"That's it, Jakery!" Ether celebrated. "How are the rest doing?"

"Look behind you," Jakery replied.

Ether turned to look at the path they created. Their side fought hard to stay in control. He saw blood explosions go off and even saw Kellenas along with some of his Ferals rip away at the incoming Light Legion.

It was exactly what he hoped his Infinus would do. He wanted to prove to Dire, Kas, and Alise attempting to kill the last Coros members off was a mistake.

A Siege Weaver slammed down near them, costing the lives of many Light Legion warriors. Then the same Weaver reappeared behind them, returning up into the skies once again.

Ether looked down to see what Jakery's reaction was, but he realized something. Jakery was standing inside the pool of electricity the Weaver left behind.

"JAKERY, GET THE HELL OUT OF THERE!" Ether desperately called out.

"Calm down, I'm fine..." Jakery calmly replied.

The pool disappeared, and Jakery rushed down Digon. Ether followed him. The brothers hacked and slashed their way through the Light Legion, making sure to leave everyone behind them dead.

That's when a grey Cemtras roared. It caught Jakery and Ether in its gaze. The Cemtras charged at the brothers, stomping on everyone who was between it and its meal.

When the three met, Ether attempted to become a distraction by trying to take away its balance. Ether tackled the side of the creature, but it remained unphased.

It rose its gigantic leg and kicked Ether back. One of the three claws got a direct hit on Ether's stomach. Jakery watched it all unfold, which sparked something in him.

Something unnatural.

While it was bringing its attention back to him, Jakery jumped up to its back. He grabbed the spikes on its back and used those as ladders to help him scale the back of the beast.

Once he was on its head, the Cemtras tried to reach up to take Jakery off. But he moved away just as the Cemtras reached down for him. He recovered and waited for the next hand.

Now the Cemtras was furious, it closed a hand and struck where it believed Jakery was. But he predicted this would happen and moved out of the way before it landed its hit.

After the creature retracted its hand, Jakery got to work. He struck the top of its head multiple times. At first, the hits didn't seem to bother it. But Jakery somehow managed to punch faster and harder each time.

The Cemtras caused destruction all around as it tried to shake Jakery off. But he was keen on getting revenge for his brother.

He rose his arm once more and brought it down. Then bright blue energy consumed his body. Electricity coursed through Jakery's body, giving him enough strength to push a whole area back.

Jakery had awoken his Third Rule by beating one of his biggest challenges, growing up and learning how to kill. And also killing a Cemtras alone, something impressive for someone so young and also mostly Yonie.

The Nine Rules of Reality patiently watched to see what Jakery would do next.

Ether struggled to stand back up, but a familiar figure came to help. Jakery helped Ether get up, electricity still ran through his body.

"You... earned a Third Rule!" Ether excitedly pointed out.

Jakery nodded. "You see those Light Legion warriors down there? They won't be able to hold us back if we stay close together."

Ether looked past Jakery, his eyes landed on a small clearing between the hordes of Light Legion warriors. Something strange caught his eye.

A Distorted orb appeared above the clearing, then it descended like an angel of death. It unleashed a devastating cry, then looked around for victims.
