Sae shut down her laptop and closed it as calm as she could...
Because what comes after it wasn't something that could be described as calm.
Sae couldn't help but hastily roll around in her bed as she thought about the sudden call she had with Nobuo.
"I'll be a man and go ahead and take all your first times, my ass. That really made my heart skip a beat."
Sae almost couldn't contain her emotions during the last few moments of the call. Sae didn't expect Nobuo to break up after only lasting for 6 months in his relationship. She was glad he didn't feel too bad about it. Nobuo had always been the calm and chill person to her so she saw it coming. But even for an 18-year-old girl, she knew that breaking up from their first relationship was not a good feeling at all and that Nobuo was definitely hiding his pain.
Sae was also angry that she wasn't able to do any better than just cheering him up. She then repeatedly cursed his ex-girlfriend as she was the one that made Nobuo felt the way he is now.
However, Sae was doing it with a smile on her face.
Sae realized that she had invited him over for lunch again through the voice call. She quickly got up and scanned her room and made sure it was clean as if she was planning to invite him the very next day. Just as quickly, she laid back down on her bed and roll around like a maiden in love again.
Sae knew for a fact that there was no way she would invite a boy into her room. Not that she was against the idea but she knew her mother would not be happy about it.
Nobuo wasn't a very good looking person in Sae's eyes. Nobuo had a very baby-face and she was more into a manly person such as her favourite tuber. To her, Nobuo looked like a younger brother despite being almost a head taller than her.
Then again, Nobuo was also very much the big-brother type as he is the eldest in the family just like her. Because of the way he took care of her and cared for her self being, Nobuo was the ideal big brother that she never had.
Sae figured that maybe that was the reason so many girls flocked around him. Sae quickly brushed off the thought as she didn't like how girls were quite attached to him.
Sae knew that Nobuo wasn't a very nice person. Nobuo had a bad personality as a kid as he would always do stupid things like stealing someone's pencil when he was a pre-schooler. He would even try to hit on girls in cram school and claim that he wanted a 'harem' of girls all to himself.
Then again, Nobuo was a gentle giant who made sure she could catch up to his steps by stopping occasionally and waited for her. He would always look back and made sure she would be by his side before walking ahead again.
Sae was just comfortable talking to Nobuo. Every time she spent her day talking to Nobuo, she would walk out of that conversation happily and gleefully. It was as if their wavelengths were in sync and felt like he was a family member she never had. It was at this point Sae was worried if she had a brother fetish or not.
Nobuo wasn't the ideal boy by a huge margin. But for some reason, she couldn't stop thinking about him.
All the other men that were interested in her were scums. They were always after her for ulterior motives. They only wanted her either for her body or for her status.
She didn't want to admit it but she knew she had a bigger bust size than average girls. She didn't know when she developed them but they were there before she knew it. She knew that boys her age were into that and eventually she could tell who the people with bad intentions were.
And for some reason also, she was a popular kid in school. It might have been due to her grades and personality as she was loved by her teachers and friends. She was also quite untouchable as she was known as 'the girl who like knives'. Be that how one would interpret, she was someone who one would want to have by their side.
There were many boys who wanted to date her in school. However, she only ever saw them as crazy and immature brats. And that she knew these boys will have a side that they wouldn't show to their significant other. Therefore, she would brush them off as kids.
Sae once had a crush on a boy in her vocational school. He was a nerdy-looking boy whom she had fun talking to. But just like any other boys she met in high school, he was one of those kids and maybe worse.
Nobuo was different. She knew almost everything about him. The good and bad sides. She had known him since pre-school and kept in contact since. She had seen how gentle and nice he was at cram school when talking to his friends there. She had also seen how rowdy and crazy he was with his high schoolmates. She had seen how rude and obedient he was with his family. And most importantly, she had seen how relaxed he was when talking to her.
Sae Taniguchi had seen all the sides of her childhood friend. Maybe that was the reason she was in love with him. She didn't know if that was the truth but she was willing to accept it as one of the reasons.
Sae turned her head and realized that it was late at night and everyone in her house had slept. Sae was in a call with Nobuo for almost 3 hours and time had eventually slipped out of her mind.
Sae got out of her bed and head for the kitchen. Her pet miniature poodle, Mirai who was sleeping in his bed woke up and followed her out of the room.
As she reached the kitchen, she opened up the fridge and grabbed a carton of milk. Sae then filled up her cup with milk. She then put the carton back in the fridge, grabbed her cup of milk and enjoy it on her dining table. Mirai who had followed her all the way just laid down beside her and kept her company.
Sae's life was simple. Grow up, study hard and be a doctor. In Sae's eyes, she chose to go to vocational school because she wasn't sure about being a doctor. She wasn't particularly interested in being one. It was her family that wanted her to be one. She thought she could be a veterinarian instead of an actual doctor since she liked pets. So, that became her goal instead despite not being her choice.
Sae's never cared for love or any of those emotions that would hinder her studies. It might just have been because there wasn't a single boy in her life that made her went out of her way to care about it. In fact, she was almost convinced that she would be a lesbian because her best friend who was a girl was the closest thing to what she would consider someone she loved.
Regardless, she wasn't interested in them and never cared about them. Well, at least until recently…
Sae only cared about two things while she was in the dining room. One, about how cold her milk felt in the warm night and two, about what she wanted to cook for Nobuo the next time they meet again.
