Chapter 19 - The Big Boss' Older Sister Isn't Simple

Layla saw that the servants were all very respectful towards this Catherine. It could even be said that they were deferential.

This older sister must be extremely important to Andre, Layla thought.

By right, Layla should call her 'Auntie', but calling her 'Auntie' did not seem to match Catherine's appearance either.

She had taken really great care of herself. Whether it was her face or figure, there was no sign of aging at all.

Thinking of Andre's handsome face, Layla couldn't help but sigh at how outstanding the genes of the Brian family were.

"Hello, Miss Catherine. I'm Andre's assistant, Layla," Layla replied politely.

At this moment, Layla suddenly realized that she hadn't introduced her name yet, but the big boss's older sister already knew it.

Layla was a little puzzled, but she wasn't really bothered.

Catherine dismissed everyone and pushed Layla into the room herself. She said that she wanted to show Layla around the house.

"Layla, you're very young and beautiful. What do you think of our Little An?" Catherine asked while examining the wall painting hanging in the room.

"Thank you for your compliment, Miss Catherine. You are the most elegant woman I have ever seen. Uncle Andre is very outstanding. I have learned a lot from him…"

Layla was answering the question Catherine had raised earnestly when out of the corner of her eye, she caught sight of a mirror on her left. She was shocked.

Through the mirror, Layla saw Catherine pretending to look at the painting on the wall. Under the cover of her body, she was emptying a small bag of white powder into a cup!

Miss Catherine has no grievances with me. Before today, we could even be said to have had no interaction at all. Now, she's actually slipping me a drug behind my back. What is she trying to do?! Layla thought in alarm.

Layla forced herself to level her state of mind and tried her best to pretend to be calm as she continued her conversation with Catherine.

However, she was constantly analyzing the situation in her mind—it was her first time meeting Catherine today. Their only common point was Andre.

In that case, Catherine could only be doing this because of Andre!

In a split second, Layla suddenly remembered what her father had said.

Every woman involved with Andre would die an unnatural death, and his fourth wife had even died at the scene of her wedding with Andre!

You must not be attracted to him. He was a man destined not to have a woman!

Layla didn't dare think about it any longer.

At this moment, Catherine walked gracefully towards Layla with the glass of water that had been spiked, as if the water in her hand was not lethal poison but holy water from heaven.

Catherine handed the water to Layla very naturally and said in a very gentle tone, "Layla, you're thirsty, right? Have some water."

If Layla had not seen that scene in the mirror just now, she would still think that Catherine was a noble and elegant existence and would not be on guard against her. She would definitely take the water and drink it in one gulp.

Layla pretended not to know anything and reached for the glass of water.

Of course, she didn't drink it.

Instead, she took the opportunity to grab Catherine's hand and spoke forlornly, "Miss Catherine, you're so good at taking care of people, and you're also gentle and noble. It's really Uncle Andre's honor to have an older sister like you."

After praising Catherine, Layla pretended to be sad and squeezed a few tears out of her eyes before talking in a gloomy manner.

"But I'm different. A while ago, I got injured in a car accident. Not only did my beloved boyfriend not take care of me, but he also disdained my legs. He ignored my pleas and resolutely chose to break up with me. I'm really too sad and broken-hearted!"

With that said, Layla actually began to wail in front of Catherine.

After a while, Layla raised her head and wiped a few lines of tears—that she had forced out—from her face.

"Miss Catherine, you're so outstanding. Can you teach me how to win back my boyfriend's heart?"

Catherine looked at the tearful face of this little girl in front of her and suddenly recalled her own lovesick appearance when Andre had gotten his first girlfriend.

Since this little girl is not a threat, there is no need for me to kill someone and pile more sins on myself, Catherine thought.

Besides, if news of someone dying in Andre's house circulated, it would also cause a negative impact on Andre.

"Of course, Older Sister is experienced with things like dealing with men. Come, let's go to the balcony. I'll teach you in detail."

As she spoke, Catherine smiled and smoothly took the glass of water from Layla's hand. She pushed Layla towards the outside and acted just like the world's most caring older sister.
