When Layla woke up again, it was already early morning of the next day. She was all groggy and confused.
Layla was just about to close her eyes and rest for a while more when suddenly, an image of herself fighting against the evil spirit yesterday, smashing many of Andre's things, and wreaking havoc in his house appeared in her mind.
In the end, the scene froze at her hugging Andre's leg like a resentful woman who was drowning, wailing accusingly about why he didn't bring her along with him.
Layla rubbed her throbbing head in frustration. Hmph! That man was the culprit who ran into me.
She was only staying here now because he could restrain the evil spirit.
How could she really develop feelings of dependence on him?!
Right. No way. It's impossible.
Layla still hadn't realized that, deep down, her opinion and attitude towards Andre had changed.
Layla planned to sit up in bed. She was considered fully awake right then.
At this moment, she suddenly realized that she was not wearing her clothes from yesterday, but a nightgown!
"This!" Layla was shocked. She didn't know anything about what happened after she fainted yesterday. Did that Uncle Andre change her clothes?!
Could it be that he had seen her naked?!
Just as Layla was feeling uncertain, she saw Andre walking over with a glass of milk.
Instinctively, Layla covered her chest with both hands.
Probably sensing Layla's wariness and confusion, Andre spoke up. "You were too dirty yesterday to be put into bed. I asked a servant to come over and clean you up."
Although Andre was describing it with an emotionless tone, he did not seem to dislike Layla at all.
However, Layla still felt ashamed to be talked about like that by an uncle!
Layla sipped her warm milk, thinking that although this uncle had knocked into her and made a mistake, he had also taken responsibility by sending her to the hospital.
Recalling everything that had happened over the past few days, Layla felt that Uncle Andre was actually quite a nice person.
When Layla finished her milk, Andre took the empty glass from her hand in a particularly gentlemanly manner.
Layla couldn't help but reveal a sweet smile at Andre's small gesture.
However, the next second, her smile froze on her face.
Layla heard Andre say coldly, "Miss Layla, I think that you're no longer suitable to continue living here."
Then, without allowing Layla to rebut at all, Andre continued, "Pack up. I'll get someone to send you back to C City in 15 minutes."
"I'm not leaving! Why are you chasing me away?!" Layla's first reaction was to retort directly.
She had just fought with an evil spirit yesterday. Now, the evil spirit must be bearing a grudge and waiting to take revenge on her. She absolutely could not leave Andre at this time!
"Besides, Uncle Andre, you promised my father."
Andre looked at the little girl in front of him who was so anxious that she was about to cry. For some reason, he also felt somewhat irritated.
"Don't say anything else. Pack up. I'll get someone to send you back."
Yesterday, after Andre found out that his older sister, Catherine, had already come to see Layla, he made this decision.
Although he was only suspicious of Catherine for now, Andre had lost too much already. He really didn't want to implicate innocent women again because of him.
Andre suddenly couldn't bear to see this girl looking sad.
Her eyes were originally so bright and dazzling that they were unforgettable, but now, they were filled with disbelief and sorrow.
Seeing that Andre was about to leave, Layla sat up and quickly grabbed onto his hand!
No, she couldn't leave Andre now!
For some reason, Layla hadn't even told her parents about being haunted by an evil spirit. But now, she actually felt some sort of urge to tell Andre the whole truth.
Layla was in a dilemma for a moment. She was afraid that no one would believe her even if she voiced it out. She might even be treated as a wack job by him.
However… Andre was really the only person she could rely on.
In the end, she still decided to tell Andre frankly about the evil spirit. Now, she could only take a gamble.
Because this was the only way Layla could think of to continue staying by Andre's side!
