Chereads / Forced To Love My Boss / Chapter 20 - You're Finally Back

Chapter 20 - You're Finally Back

Looking at the change in Catherine's attitude before and after, Layla was certain that the 'melodrama' earlier had already won her a bargaining chip for survival. She unconsciously heaved a sigh of relief inwardly.

Andre, who was speeding along the highway towards his destination, suddenly recalled the investigation results that his assistant, Rhode, had mentioned the day before.

"Boss, we didn't find the murderer who killed your wife, but we found this photo of the person who disappeared from the scope of the surveillance."

Although the person in the photo was dressed like a man, Andre could still tell at a glance that this back view was almost identical to his older sister, Catherine.

Andre had always been very concerned about investigating his father's death, but he hadn't found any clues for such a long time.

How did he suddenly discover such crucial evidence so easily?

It was as if someone had deliberately placed it in front of him.

Andre's mind was racing as he recalled everything that had happened before, and he vaguely had an answer in his heart.

However, he couldn't be sure.

As his half-sister from the same father but different mother, Catherine had been living with her mother previously, but when Andre was five years old, his father brought her into the family.

Ever since then, Catherine had always been by Andre's side, and the two of them grew up together.

When he was young, their father was busy with internal affairs and rarely had time to accompany Andre.

His mother had passed away early, too. It was all thanks to this older sister who took care of him and kept Andre company.

Hence, the two siblings had always had a good relationship.

When did their relationship begin to fall apart?

Was it when he realized that his older sister seemed to see him in a romantic light, or when his father arranged a marriage alliance and Andre was deeply in love with that marriage partner?

He couldn't remember clearly anymore. Anyway, there was already a barrier between the two of them.

Andre collected his thoughts and called Rhode. He asked him to arrange for a few brothers to take care of Layla at his home. They had to ensure Layla's personal safety.

At 10 PM, Andre finally returned home while dragging his exhausted body.

However, he was stupefied by the state of the house as soon as he entered the door. If it weren't for the familiar smell of his house, he would have thought that he had gone to the wrong house.

The originally clean and tidy house was now in a terrible mess. The furniture and chandeliers were swaying from left to right, and the television in the living room had a huge hole smashed into it by a hard object.

Furthermore, Andre's beloved ornaments, the trophies he had won previously, and the soccer balls that he had collected were all lying on the ground in disarray.

Even the valuable red wine that Andre's father loved the most when he was alive was shattered on the ground. The wine within the bottle had long flowed out and disappeared.

Who knew where the servants at home had gone either.

Andre was shocked. Could it be that someone had been so blind as to rob a mob boss?!

Soon, he quickly rejected this idea. He had already arranged for his people to lie low nearby. If someone had entered the house to burglarize the place, his subordinates would have reported it to Andre long ago.

Before Andre could mull over it, he heard the sound of a mirror shattering in the bathroom and Layla's scream of despair. "Stop pestering me! Get lost, you dirty thing!"

Andre strode over quickly and pushed open the bathroom door with all his might. He saw Layla holding onto a baseball bat tightly and waving it repeatedly in the air.

Clearly, she was the one who had broken the glass just now.

Looking at Layla in this state, Andre already had an answer for the reasons that had led to such a terrible condition in his house.

When Layla saw that Andre was back, she quickly threw away the baseball bat. Using both hands to support herself, she crawled over and hugged Andre, crying and laughing at the same time.

"Andre!! You're finally back! You still know to come back? Why didn't you bring me with you when you went out just now?!" With that said, she wailed.

Andre didn't understand what was going on, but he didn't move either. He let Layla hug him.

Perhaps it was because she was too emotional, and coupled with the fact that she was already completely exhausted, she actually fainted while hugging onto Andre's calf.

It turned out that when Catherine came to visit Layla just now, she had already dismissed the servants at home. After Catherine left, Layla was the only one left in the house.

How could the evil spirit, which had been waiting for a long time, let go of such a good opportunity? It immediately dragged Layla from the wheelchair and slammed her onto the ground fiercely, then began to torture Layla.

If it weren't for Layla's bitter perseverance, she would probably be dead by now!
