Chapter 6 - Private lesson

"How are you? Are you feeling okay?" asked the teacher when both his students came to the field. It was already getting dark, but the sky was clear and the weather was comforting. The grass field was neatly cut and span over several dozen meters between buildings. There were several benches on the walls next to decorative bushes.

"We are better," the blond boy responded meekly.

"There is no reason to lie to me now, I don't mind you exchanging sick leave for time to learn, how could I? That was a great idea! Now show me what you learned!" Hito stepped back and rose his hands to encourage them to do something.

"I-I don't know..." said the blond boy defeated.

"Disappointing! What about you?" Hito shows no surprise and looked at the second boy.

"No....well... I read some theory, but after I tried it a little I only managed to make two circles at the same time," the chubby boy replied.

"Which one?" asked the teacher after a silent pause.

"The Light and Vulcan dimensions,"

"Show me!" ordered Hito and Ell does so. He focused on closed eyes and rose both hands as if he was holding a tray. On his right palm appeared a magical circle in a yellow color and in the other a circle in red color.

"You, can you do something like this?" Hito turned towards the blond boy.

"I can do that with Vulcan and Sea dimension," the blond boy quickly does the same, just his left palm was holding in a blue circle instead of yellow.

"Is this all you can do? That is not enough... well I guess you have time until midnight," yawned the teacher and sit on the grass. Both boys start to sweat nervously and look at each other in fear and confusion.

"Hmm... I am not sure what you learned last semester... enlighten me please," said Hito after watching them just blankly staring on the ground, panic slowly overcoming their focus.

"We learned about none dimensional spells like teleportation, but since the teacher was missing it was just theory," the blond boy answered.

"What have you learned in different classes? You all clear the exam to become a novice, so you know all ten dimensions, right? You know about alchemy, monsters, and laws. Those things are tied together, don't forget them just because you have a different teacher,"

"Yes," they both said.

"You know about the three laws in using them, right?"

"Yes," again both agreed.

"You know how to make a combination spell, right?"

"No, ob-..." said the blond boy and stopped himself before saying obviously.

"Well... maybe if you think about it a little," Hito tried to encourage them.

"I only know we need to put them together so the spell is a combination of both,"

"So what else do you need to know?" asked the teacher and lay down on his side.

"Focus. Meaning. Relation," said Ell focusing on his two circles and after a while, the circle on his right hand start to glow a little, and the red one spill out a small flame.

"Alright... fine!" the blond boy calms down as well. They continue focusing and soon they both start to move their hands together. It was hard to say if one comes with the idea and another one copies it, or that they both come to the same conclusion. Was it instinct or they figured it out by rational thinking? It was impossible to tell.

"Hmm... I'll throw you a bone... You learned about those three, but never forget the change! Especially relation and meaning. Now that you moved those two circles so close try to cast the spells and see what happens," Hito advises them from his leisure position.

"Thank you," the blond boy smiled. He put his red circle before the blue one, but the flame was simply put out by the water he created from the blue circle. Similarly, his schoolmate's spell ends up in failure as the light from the circle comes around the flame, dodging it like a living thing.

It was already pitch black and Hito was forced to open a circle of light around them so he could see them well. The teacher was silent, so the boys spend several hours until finally came a break-through.

"I see! You need to do it like this!" said the blond boy exhausted and happy as suddenly both of his circles came together and instead of water or fire a puff of steam came out. The teacher stood up and come closer to look at those circles.

"Can you see it? Now it has two layers, making a pattern. Don't forget it! It's about the gut feeling, so you need to keep practicing the spell. Also, the color changed to light purple, can you guess why?"

"Because I used more water than fire,"

"Meaning! That is what guides us, that is the force that pushes stuff from different dimensions to here. Most people use Sea dimension to conjure water, sea means water basically. Water means blue color for most people. So, the color change depending on the meaning you give them. Most people change their colors like you would do normally mixing them together, but some are more variable. If you want to learn something about meaning then never forget that is always changing. To you, it changes, to other people, always!"

"Master... why are you talking so much now?" asked the blond guy and sit on the ground smiling. Meanwhile, his friend yelled in surprise as he also combined both his circles and made a golden-looking fire.

"Ohhh! Look at you chubby! You did it too! I guess I won't fail you then! Do you want to get rid of your fail from the first lesson as well?"

"What we need to do?" asked Ell and also sit on the ground. Both were tired, sweat showing on their clothes and face, but both looked at Hito with determination!

"Just show me your spell in practical use,"

"What? How the quag should we do that?"

"Well, you made a spell now sell it to me!"

"Eh...My spell creates steam so you could use it to steam cook something,"

"...I guess you could have golden fire in your fireplace to look rich..." yawned Ell.

"Ehh... you are too tired to think...just go home, I'll wipe your record clean completely,"

"Thank you, master!"

"Kids these days..." said Hito, as they both slowly walk away exhausted, but happy. Hito watched them leaving and shut down the light, covering himself and the yard in darkness.
