Chapter 28 - Chapter 27

"So that's your answer."

In Idle Online, at the guardhouse of a small town, two men were talking about a proposal.

"Yes, I appreciate the offer and I would like to participate in training," Allan said as he looked at the captain.

After much thought, he decided to accept Smith's proposal.

Don't see it as if it was an easy decision, it wasn't at all.

Training with the guards every day would mean that Allan would have to make major changes to his schedule and his daily life.

The guards are divided into three groups so that at no time the town is left unprotected.

The guards schedule Allan will join in training is as follows:

The guards train every morning from 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., after which they patrol until lunchtime and then continue working until 5:00 p.m., and train until 8:00 p.m.

This training is repeated every day.

That means Allan will have to log into the game every two hours in the real world, which is impossible except that he starts using the capsule while he sleeps, which would give him plenty of time to exercise, eat, shower, and call his parents.

Until now Allan had never entered the game while he slept.

Although many people go into capsules at night to maximize their time, it has never been proven that there could be no possible side effects in this regard.

Still, Allan decided to accept Smith's offer because he knew there would be no other opportunity like that.

At the rate he was currently progressing there is no way he could have a clear advantage over the other players.

It would be another story if Allan could get into the real game, but unfortunately, he couldn't.

(All because of that damn title) Allan thought.

From the moment he acquired the Unlucky title Allan has been watching what the players who said they owned the title were doing.

(Of the 7 players who confirmed to have the title, three left the game and the other three did not leave the cities where they appeared after leaving the tutorial, the only one who still dares to leave is the bunny fighter) Allan thought, half worried half amused.

The first player to win the Unlucky title, the bunny fighter, has become an internet celebrity, although most of his videos are of the misfortunes that happen to him in the game.

Most of the time he ends up dying in unlikely or painful ways that have caused him to have a lot of followers on the forums who want to see him suffer.

(I can't get out of Tutorial Island until I have some skill to defend myself)

So Allan decided to accept the captain's offer.

Which brings us to the current point in our history.

"Excellent! Let's get started as soon as possible" said Smith with a smile.

"Eric," Smith said to the vice-captain who was also in the room.

"Sir!"

"Please take Allan to our instructor to meet our newest recruit."

"Yes sir!" Eric replied, after which he headed for the door without waiting for Allan which caused Smith to cast an apologetic glance at Allan.

(One day I really want to punch this guy) Allan thought as he left the room to chase the vice-captain.

Unfortunately, Allan was too busy trying to keep up with Eric that he didn't notice a pair of eyes looking at them without emotion from the captain's office.

...

"What do you mean there is nothing else to teach us?!!!

In a small beastmen tribe, inside a small tent, Jake was arguing along his friend John with an old beastman.

He is the leader of the tribe Jake was currently residing in, Bozo.

"That is exactly what I mean, you have already learned everything the tribe can teach you" Bozo repeated for the fourth time.

"But you haven't taught us anything!!!" Jake said in exasperation for the fifth time.

Jake and John have been in the game for several months (game time) and during this period they finally managed with their own efforts and a lot of difficulty to reach level 10.

During the whole process none of them received any help from the residents of the tribe at all, what's more, because they stayed at night in the tribe so as not to be attacked by wild beasts, the villagers forced them to give anything of value that obtained in the forest as tribute, including their preys.

No matter where you look, the tribe did not help them in any way, and any 'favor' they received had already been paid.

After reaching level 10 they planned to ask the chief of the tribe to teach them techniques to hunt and survive in the forest more easily, something that Bozo had previously denied saying they were too weak.

Bozo, fed up with this discussion, yelled at them:

"Ungrateful! Racial skills are the greatest treasure of our tribe. How can you have the audacity to say that the tribe has not given you anything, without them you would have continued to die in the forest"

Hearing Bozo's reply, Jake was speechless.

Racial abilities are innate abilities acquired by players by selecting the beastmen race and at birth by the residents respectively, saying that they had been granted by the tribe and that they should be grateful to the tribe for it is the most shameless thing Jake had ever heard.

It is as if in the real world, politicians want you to be grateful because thanks to them you are able to breathe.

"What about the hunters?" John asked seeing that Jake was too stunned to answer.

"What is going on with them?" replied back Bozo.

"Hunters go to the forest every day to hunt and gather herbs, could they teach us these skills?"

"Right" said Jake who had just woken up from his stupor "The hunters use the bow, they set traps, they know how to walk through the forest, how come you say that the tribe has nothing to teach us?!!"

"Since when are you part of the tribe?" Bozo said without changing his expression.

"You ..." Jake was speechless again, he had never seen anyone so shameless, even John was puzzled, after all, the old man had said otherwise a second ago.

"Do not think that I have not realized that you want to leave the tribe, training a person takes time, why would hunters waste their time teaching you their skills if you are going to leave?" Bozo replied, looking at them with some disdain.

They did not say anything this time, while they were furious that Bozo had deceived them, it is also true that they both thought to leave and explore the game, from this point of view it is normal that Bozo does not want to train them, nobody wants to do ungrateful work.

Jake and John looked at each other without knowing what to do, if they did not learn how to defend themselves, they would not be able to leave the town, and if they did not leave the town, they would not be able to explore, and if they did not explore all the effort, they had put in so far it would be useless.

Finally, John said:

"And if we work for the tribe for a while?"

"Ha, what use would that be to me, unless you plan to stay all your life do not think about learning anything" said to smug Bozo.

"Are you sure about that?" John said smiling.

"What do you mean?"

"You know that we cannot die, no matter how long it takes, one day we will become strong enough to do whatever we want."

Bozo's face turned cold and he said in a dangerous tone:

"Are you threatening me?"

Both felt a pressure that pushed them to the ground, evidently Bozo is stronger than he appeared.

"Not at all" John said without changing his expression "What I mean is that in the end we will get out of here, that you teach us will only accelerate the process"

"And why am I going to teach you? To have you working for a while? " Bozo said mockingly.

"Exactly," John replied.

"As long as we agree, you will have two immortal hunters to do whatever you wish"

Bozo's eyes widened slightly but he quickly said:

"I remind you that you are not the only immortal in the tribe"

"It's true but do you really think they can do the same as we do?"

John asked.

This time it was Bozo who was silent.

As much as he wanted to deny it, John was right. The other immortals have decided a peaceful life away from combat, they were immortal, but they were not warriors.

What Bozo hated the most is that if he tried to force them to fight, they just disappeared, and some didn't come back.

John and Bozo were silent as they looked into each other's eyes.

"Ten years"

"Six months"

"You're kidding, in that time you will learn the skills of hunters and you will go away"

"We will also do it on our own in ten years"

"Five years"

"One year"

Bozo fed up said while he raised his voice:

"Three years, it is my last offer, take it or leave it, although you would be useful to the tribe, you are not essential"

John looked at Jake who was communicating with him through the player chat, after a few moments John said:

"Deal"
