Chapter 21 - Lin Hao

"Su Hao, Elemental Affinity: Fire."

Immediately after the Dean finished speaking, the whole platform was filled with voices of amazement, shocked and envy. The students were all discussing about the test results just now.

"Damn, that guy actually has a beginner stage Excellent talent."

"Fuck, I know right, and he even awoken his elemental affinity, most people can't even awaken it on three tries, let alone succeed on their first try, this fellow must be a genius in fire element."

"I wonder how the next participant will fare compared to this Su Hao guy."

"I wish I could succeed on my first try too."

"Hmph, just that, even if I can't succeed on my first try or all three tries, as long I have a strong elemental aptitude, that will be enough for me as I can awaken my element later even if I fail now."

"What you say is also true."

Everyone participating student on the big platform were engaged in their own conversations about whether they would be so lucky like this student who had managed to succeed on his first try. One had to know that not everyone can succeed on their first try when it comes to awakening one's elemental affinity as it usually means that the said person had a high affinity with said element.

So, for this student to succeed on his first try means that he was a talent when it comes to practicing fire-related techniques or at least would have it easier when it comes to practicing fire-related techniques compared to those that awaken their fire elemental affinity on the second or the third try.

A few moments later, right after the student came down from the test platform, everyone participant halted their conversations and waited for the second participant in line to make their way onto the stage. And after a while, a series of results were heard.

"Wu Ming, Aptitude 3."

"Wu Ming, Elemental Affinity: Earth."

"Pass."

"Lin Dong, Aptitude 1."

"Lin Dong, Elemental Affinity: None; You are unfit to practice any elemental cultivation techniques, you have one-year to practice any weapon cultivation technique, best of luck." The White-Beard Dean then said to him.

The student who received the elemental affinity of first-grade talent had a dejected look on his as he took the second test and he even had a slight hope that he might awaken his elemental affinity but who would have thought that not only was his aptitude the lowest kind, but he was also not even able to awaken his elemental affinity.

After listening to the Dean's verdict, he walked down the staircase with a daze look on his face— almost as if he had lost his soul.

Almost every participant on the big platform felt pity for this participant as it could have been them in his place. Indeed, this student's aptitude was bad, as it was the lowest of all the grades of talent.

Even Wu Ming, the student that came before him was talented than him since he had a third-grade talent and although he had to waste all his tries to finally awaken his earth elemental affinity, it is still better than this Lin Dong who not only got the worse aptitude but also did not even awaken his elemental affinity.

Thinking about this, every participant suddenly felt the pressure from this examination as some were suddenly losing their confidence with a thought of them possibly failing the test.

The test went on with the highest being fourth-grade talent which was that Su Hao from the beginning. Since then, there were only first-grade aptitude or second-grade aptitude and very few third-grade talent aptitude; some awoken their elements while others could not, so they suffered the same fate as Lin Dong.

The test went on until a certain participant's result caught the attention of everyone on the big platform, even the white-beard Dean who was composed all this time was inwardly shocked by this result, but he still maintained his composure and announced the results loudly enough for everyone to hear.

"Lin Hao, Aptitude 7!"

"Lin Hao, Elemental Affinity: Wind."

"Not bad." The white-beard Dean nodded and even added a little compliment after announcing the results.

"…"

When everyone heard this, they were dumbfounded for a while, but then there was a sudden uproar on the big platform. As everyone was already getting used to seeing aptitude between 1 to 4, suddenly this participant came out of nowhere and not only was his aptitude very high— seventh-grade talent, but he also succeeded on his first try on awakening a wind elemental affinity.

Everyone was shocked by this, as this participant was an extreme genius if he managed to have an elemental aptitude of 7 as there are not many people in this entire academy with elemental affinity of 7 or above. This means that this Lin Hao could be considered a seedling that will be groomed by the academy.

On the other side, on the small, elevated platform on the big platform, Lin Hao stood there and watch everyone's reaction with a proud look on his face. He was someone who came from a common family but because he was talented, his family had no choice but to send him to the academy to further continue his cultivation journey.

He always despised those rich arrogant young masters who always look down on him because of his family background and so he too would be arrogant at this moment and look down on them. Since the heavens had given him this extraordinary talent, he would show them who the trash amongst them is.

Indeed, some of the rich young masters who knew his identity had strange expressions on their faces at this moment as they never expected that this bumpkin whom they always look down on, to suddenly turn out to be a cultivation genius.

They had bitter feelings in their mouths, not knowing how to feel about this. There were even some who were wondering whether Lin Hao would take revenge on them now that he is a cultivation genius. Some were unwilling to believe that Lin Hao was able to have this kind of talents and so they expressed their disbelief.

"Impossible, how could this trash have this kind of talent, he was nothing but a bumpkin!" Someone shouted in disbelief. The moment he did, almost like a signal, when the others heard this, they all started making an uproar expressing their doubts as well.

"Yeah, there must be something wrong with testing artifact, otherwise there is no way that this trash could have a seventh-grade Aptitude."

"I don't believe it either; he must've cheated or something."

"Y-You're right. This is unbelievable, there is nothing special about this kid for him to have such a high aptitude."

Looking these people, Lin Hao recognized some of them, they were the young masters from the rich families who kept bullying him because of his family background.

When he heard them making a ruckus of his test results, Lin Hao deeply frowned and had look of disdain on his face as he realized that these rich young masters were nothing but pebbles on his path of cultivation.

Seeing the sudden uproar, white-beard Dean felt annoyed by these participants' sudden uproar and spoke, "Who dares question my judgment?! Come out if you dare!! Anyone who makes a ruckus would be disqualified from this year's exam and the subsequent years— indefinitely!!"

Hearing this everyone suddenly shut their mouths as no one would dare to question a Dean of Academy even if they were given a thousand times their guts and bravery.

As the other party could easily deal with them without even moving from his current position and not even their families can do anything about the outcome.
