Chapter 27 - Untalented?

On the testing platform, the Azure-colored light began to subside as it displayed Shenyan's result which baffled the white-beard dean who was looking at this result in bewilderment, but he had been too shocked today that he was already numb from it all, so he did not hesitate and listlessly announced the result for everyone to hear.

This immediately shocked everyone on the big platform including the principal, the deans, and the young girl who were watching all this scene in the distance.

"Shenyan, Aptitude 12."

"Impossible! To get a twelve in aptitude, how is that possible?" One of the deans beside the principal said. He had an incredulous look on his face as he spoke.

"That's right, is it even possible for someone to have that high aptitude, won't they simply just soar into the sky easily without any effort at all?! Another dean also spoke in disbelief as this was so shocking that he did not dare to belief it even for a second.

While the deans were engaged in their own discussions, the principal of the academy had a stupefied look on his face as if he had seen a ghost or something out of this world. While he was able to maintain his composure unlike the deans, he could not hide the look of shock on his face as he intently stared at the direction of the testing platform with wide eyes.

A few moments later, the principal cleared his throat as he spoke, "Ahem, like I said before, let us wait until the test is over to access the situation— I highly doubt Dean Xin would make a mistake— he had been proctoring the exams for many years now, so we shall wait and hear from him. In any case, if this boy really had a twelfth-grade talent then there would be a storm coming because in all of history nobody ever had that kind of talent; there was only a legend of there being a tenth-grade talent but not anything above it." The principal said as his expression turn from that of incredulousness to solemn, hinting how serious the implication of this whole matter was.

""Yes!"" The deans all responded in unison noticing the serious expression the principal's face.

On the top floor in one of the buildings in the academy, the young girl had a dazed look on her pretty face unable to comprehend what she heard just now.

She had a puzzled look on her face clearly indicating that she could not believe what she had just heard despite thinking about it. After a while, a small smirk appeared on her face, nobody knows what she was thinking at this moment as she continued to stare in the direction of the testing platform.

Meanwhile, on the big platform, the moment that the other participants heard Shenyan's result, they all turn speechless with an astonished look on their faces, clearly, they were also shocked from what they had heard just now but like before they did not dare to make any uproar as they listlessly continued to watch the test continue.

On the testing platform, Shenyan was finally relieved that he can move his hand from the testing orb, and he immediately turned his attention to the orb on the left with a hesitant look on his face. He was not sure if that orb would also act like this one and keep him rooted in the same spot for a long time— he initially wanted to get this test over with so that he could finally get something to eat but as it turned out, the test was taking longer than it should.

'Why is it taking so long? The others didn't spend that much time when they took their test. Why am I the only one whose test is taking so long?" Shenyan inwardly sighed as he thought to him.

Although, he wanted to give up this time and get something to eat but he was also aware that this test was necessary if he wanted to enter the academy and find a solution for his cultivation ineptness. After taking a deep breath, he then made his way to awakening orb on left to awaken his elemental affinity.

Soon, Shenyan was standing in front of the awakening orb and he stared at this orb that seemed to possess a fierce energy unlike the other orb. After a brief look at the orb, Shenyan quickly placed his hand on the orb— he did not want to waste any more time as he was really hungry right now.

A few moments later, the orb started sending violent energy into Shenyan's body—it moved through his veins and meridians, all the way into his spirit core in the middle of his chest. Unlike everyone who took the test prior, Shenyan did not feel any torment or pain from this violent energy, in fact it was refreshing as the energy went through his meridians as it seemed that they are being revitalized through every circulation.

About a minute later, they were no signs of the orb displaying his results. The white-beard dean only looked on as he thought to himself that maybe it will take a while longer like this participant's other test— at this point, he had already come to terms with this bizarre situation caused by this participant.

A few minutes later, there were still no signs of anything happening. The white-beard had an agitated look on his face as he was anxious about Shenyan's result— based on what he had seen on the previous test, he was certain that there would be another bizarre result since it is taking so long to awaken his element.

'It can't be that this participant would have more than two elements right—No, there is a chance that he would have three elements or more.'

'Hahaha!!'

'That would be crazy, I think I am going insane just thinking about it. That is too impossible— it is unprecedented.' A series of thoughts ran through the white-beard dean's head. He quickly shook his head to clear these thoughts from his heard.

Not only the white-beard dean was anxious to see Shenyan's result for his elemental affinity test— the other participants on the big platform had their eyes gaped widely not daring to blink even a second as they intently looked at the awakening orb that was being held by Shenyan at this moment. Even the principal and the deans and the young girl had gawking expressions on their faces at this moment as they anticipate Shenyan's results.

However, at this moment, on the testing platform, Shenyan discovered something— he could not feel any pain whatsoever at all despite waiting for so long. Could it be that he does not have any elemental affinity? Is that why he is not feeling any pain unlike the other participants? Shenyan was unwilling to give in just yet. He still continued to hold onto the orb, this time with a determined and resolute expression on his face. But after a while, he still found no reaction from the awakening orb.

'Why? Why can't I awaken my element?'

'Is because I am untalented or is it because I don't have any cultivation?'

'No, I refuse to give in just yet. Although I have no idea why I feel the need to cultivate but since I already started this journey, I have to see it through.'

'Since that is the case, why should I give up when I haven't even accomplished anything yet. I can't give up like this just yet.'

A series of thoughts was currently going through Shenyan's head as he continued to hold on to the awakening orb with a solemn expression.

It was at this moment, when his resoluteness and unwilling to give up reached its peak, his eyes glinted with light— there was a faint golden light coming from his eyes as it resonated with the pendant on the necklace around his neck— the very same necklace he had on himself when he was found by the worker in that orphanage; He had always worn that necklace ever since he was young.

At this moment, unbeknownst to Shenyan, it was giving off a profound aura when it sensed Shenyan's faint golden eyes and the moment it did, the awakening orb that was silent this whole time started reacting.

The awakening orb that shown no color before, at this moment, there was a white light shining from the orb— as time went by this white light slowly turned into a faint golden light and although it was faint it was still visible for others to see.

Seeing this, the white-beard dean had an incredulous look on his face, unable to believe what he was seeing even though it was happening right in front of his eyes.

"H-How is that possible?" He mumbled to himself, clearly still in disbelief.

After a while, the result became apparent, and after waiting for a while and seeing no changes to the orb, the dean reluctantly announced the result for everyone to hear leaving everyone confused about this situation.

"Shenyan, Elemental Affinity: None; Weapon talent: Extreme."
