As they walked into the academy they were led in a building where the registration will take place. Just by looking around, there were about thousand youngsters who came to register and most of them were excited as they made their way into the building. Everyone else was standing outside and they would be called into the building one after another to register.
Those who came out received tokens that indicated that they had registered their names to partake in the exam. These went on until it was finally Shenyan and Wang Lei's turn to register. They only ask about their names and age. After which their names will be engrave on as rectangular shaped token made of a special wood and after the engraving is done, it will be handled to them afterwards.
If anyone loses their identity token before partaking in the test, they would be automatically disqualified and that would mean that they would have to come the following year to register again before partaking in the exam.
The academy did not care about the family backgrounds of the students as of this moment. Since they had only registered, and it does not guarantee that they would pass the examination, so there were no preferential treatments given, not even to the young masters with good backgrounds.
After everyone receive their identity token, they were told that the examination venue will at the center of the academy— where there is a big platform enough to carry out the test.
Led by one of the senior students, they made their way to the center of the academy. Shenyan and Wang Lei also followed them. Most people were at least in the early stages of Spirit Apprentice Realm, so they were not easily tired, making the whole process quick despite the distance of a couple miles.
As they approach the center of the academy, everyone could see a grand stage in the distance, and there appeared to be a white-beard figure standing there waiting for everyone— he was one of the Deans of the Academy.
Soon, they made their way onto the platform. The platform itself was twice the size of a football field so it was enough to fit everyone. There was also a small raised square platform with two Orb artifacts placed at different interval away from each other, which seemed to be what would be used during the examination.
There was a stairway leading to be both orbs— this was done so that it will be easier for the students who may not be cultivators yet and cannot jump up the platform. The orbs themselves were placed into some sort of stone material in the square shape.
After the Dean noticed that almost everyone partaking in the examination was here, he cleared his loudly before he started speaking.
"Ahem!"
"I will skip the greetings, today, our Deep Frozen Academy would be taking in new students and those of you who came to partake in the examination should be aware that there are two parts to this examination."
And then he continued, "First, [Elemental Aptitude Test]— in this test, your aptitude for elemental cultivation would be checked— most of you may be wondering why that is, but it is the most important aspect during your cultivation path. Since the higher your aptitude for elements, the higher your chance at awakening any of the elements that you have an affinity with and the corresponding talent with such an elemental affinity; these two requirements will enable you to have smooth cultivation as it would become the source of your strength during your cultivation journey."
"Which brings us to our second test, [Elemental Affinity Awakening]— the awakening of your elements will be carried out during this test. There is also a chance for some to determine their elemental affinity beforehand even if they fail to awaken their element during the test. Everyone is allowed three chances at awakening their elements— after the three chances, they would be deemed to have failed, unless their elemental aptitude is high, in which case they would be allowed to stay. Since there is a chance of awakening the element naturally as they progress in their cultivation. But if their elemental aptitude is too low, then they would be deemed unfit to practice elemental cultivation and would be given a one-year chance to practice any weapon cultivation, if they are able to make progress, then they would be allowed to stay, if not, they would be kicked out of the academy to prevent the further waste of resources."
After the long explanation from the Dean, he waited for all the students to process everything he had said. At this moment, the faces of everyone were serious as they listened to every single word that came out of the Dean's mouth. Seeing this, the Dean nodded his head in satisfaction before continuing.
"Now, everyone partaking in the exam should have received their identity token, this token also have your participating number engraved on it, so everyone should be making their way to the test platform in according to the number that is engraved on your token."
"The first person should begin making their way the platform to check their aptitude— oh, right, I almost forgot to mention this, there are nine stages in the elemental aptitude as of this moment. From [one to three] were considered the [mediocre talent], from [four to six] were considered [Excellent talent] and from [seven to nine] were considered [Genius Talent]. The highest so far had been nine in elemental aptitude, but there used to be a rumor that there is a higher stage than the ninth-grade talent. Nobody knows whether this was true or not as ever since the founding of this academy thousand years ago, no one had been able to see anything higher than nine in terms aptitude— Well, none of you needed to worry about this matter as it has nothing to do with you currently."
"Let the exam begin!!!" The Dean shouted these last words of his speech as a student with number [1] token proceeded to make his way onto the test platform.
The student was very nervous since he was first one to take the test. The pressure he was carrying was immense because whether he fails or pass, he would be used as example for everyone partaking in the exam.
The student took a deep breath to calm his nerves as he proceeded to walk on the staircase even though he could easily jump up onto the platform. He was so nervous that he was afraid they he would accidentally fall during his landing, so he refrained from jumping up the platform and instead chose to walk up instead.
After reaching one of the orbs which was the one on the right side of the platform, he took a deep breath before placing his hand on the orb with his heart thumping loudly in his hears. Before he noticed what was happening, the orb shined with a blue light and a few seconds later, his aptitude was displayed for everyone to see.
"Su Hao, Aptitude 4."
The Dean said in a low voice but everyone on the big platform could hear his voice.
Nobody dared to make any noise yet as the most important aspect is the elemental awakening.
On the other hand, the student was very happy about his result, and he suddenly regained his confidence from before and immediately turned his attention to the other orb stationed on the left with anticipation in his heart.
Soon, he approached the orb and without hesitation he placed his hand on the orb but unlike the other orb which only sent some harmless energy into the body to determine one's elemental aptitude, this orb was different in the way that, the student could feel a violent energy surging through his veins all the way into his spirit core on his chest as he felt a sharp pain afterwards.
"Arghh!"
"Endure it, if not, you may risk your meridians being destroyed and your spirit core crippled afterwards!" The Dean said to the student as it seemed that student was about to let go of the orb.
A few breaths later, the orb finished circulating the energy throughout the student's body as it began to shine with a fiery color. Immediately the whole temperature of the place was engulfed in heat as the orb shined with extreme heat. After waiting for a few moments, the Dean announced the results.
"Su Hao, Elemental Affinity: Fire."
