Chapter 6 - Black Dove

Dark light would aluminate the ally ever so often as cars rushed past, whispers escaping so quietly it would be hopeless to scream. He kicked frantically as he knew what this man wanted, and he refused to let that happen. In an afraid rage, he bit the man's hand making him yell then punch Haru allowing blood to trickle down from the side of his lips onto his flushed cheeks. Holding him down to the gross ground where trash and gods know what else lay on the floor.

He ripped his shirt open, revealing his soft pale skin, grasping at his chest, making himself smile in delight when he leaned down to lick the blood from his lips. Haru close his eyes shuddering at the man's actions as he began to cry, a thud could be heard as the man would fall on his chest not making any movement.

"You gonna sit there and wait till he gets up?" A woman's voice could be heard making him slowly open his eyes.

This only made her laugh as she saw the sight of a scrawny boy stare back at them, eyes filled with tears as she leaned over his face before smiling, walking away while whistling.

Comprehending this action Haru snapped out of his weird gaze before pushing the guy off with a large huff, having a small amount of blood on his stomach made him shudder. He'd look over to notice the guy had a small stream of blood leaking down his head he didn't mind this sight as he found it satisfying but he still felt somewhat bad.

"What a wimp, though can't be helped as a human hm," she'd mumbled to herself turning the corner only to be tackled, a crash could be heard as a large bag fell on them both. "What the hell get off me!"

They would shove him away before brushing her clothes pouting at his response staring at them in the corner of her eye as she turned and began walking away again. "Wait!-" Haru managed to mumble out a yell stopping her as he held her arm somewhat tightly.

A sigh could be heard as she'd slowly turn around. "What do you want," she'd questioned him now staring at the boy who looked to be a few inches smaller than her.

"Thank you," Haru loosened his grip realizing she was now looking at her arm where his hand lay. She was a pretty woman, glasses, freckles, and golden blonde hair which was styled like a lion mane pushed to the side, she looked as if she was some sort of cool warrior out of a faraway place.

"Don't thank me, stay away from the always when it is dark there are creeps, duchies, and any other type of weird fucking freakshows you can think of," she said this simply but with a tone that said she was being serious.

I hope I didn't worry Buck or Kaito. At least I bought everything that was needed right he shouldn't be too mad. If he is mad I can just try to work overtime for him to make up for failing to keep my promise. Oh god what if Kaito is crying her head off and Buck can't calm her down and she starts to stress him out he thought to himself.

Haru was now bug-eyed making her spine shiver at this sight but she quickly brushed it off, looking around for a moment, ignoring the fact he held tight to her arm like a small child.

"I'll walk you home, if you're slow I'm leaving you behind so try to keep up. And another word of advice it's rude to stare at strangers," she snort a laugh as his face went red when he quickly averted his eyes now staring at the ground.

They began walking down the street making their way out of the ally, avoiding people here and there, he figured she knew her way around as she didn't hesitate to make movements down paths and knew where everything is.

"I'm Haru and you?" He'd question holding tighter onto the bear as she stopped moving. "Luciana, nice to meet you Haru, mind telling me where we headed," she'd give a small smile as she glanced back to him.

"Buck's Butchery," he'd smile back widely as she nodded leading him towards another street turn. About time they had gotten to the butchery he'd notice Buck was sitting on the last stair holding Kaito at the front door.

However soon as he saw the two approach he got up and ran over not wasting a second to slap Haru across the face then held him a tight hug, making sure of course not to crush the tiny Kaito who was also hugging Haru's head.

"Was I gone that long?" He'd whimper out a small chuckle as he smiled widely noticing he dropped everything on the ground, a wide-eyed Luciana sat with an awkward expression as he did so.

"This um, this is the one who helped me her name is Luciana." He'd tried to move his hand towards her with his finger but it was currently being crushed by a stick man and a baby.

Now understanding he was dying from suffocation Buck quickly backed off of him now staring at the young woman before him. "Thank you for taking him home safely I owe you a debt," he'd bow his head making her turn a little pink before stammering out a response.

"I- I um, no problem just make sure you stay from the alleyways and you should be fine pretty boy, no need for a debt uh Mr. Buck was it?" She'd wink at Haru who was now holding a barbering Kaito.

"Pretty boy?" He'd scoff a response as he got up only to quickly sit back down as he realized a baby was latched onto his hair.

"Well, Ms. Luciana thank you I'm truly grateful. How about you stay the night it's already so dark it's the least I can do and after all dinner is done would be nice to have a guest," Buck motioned both his hands to the butchery with a genuine smile.

Red circles under his eyes made Haru look down as they spoke, he caused this man so much worry even though the guy barely knew him he had been kind enough to give him shelter and a job. As he thought this he'd notice the two heading inside, Luciana would be waving a hand back to them both as she headed in right behind the Buck who was now mouthing off.

Haru would pick up Kaito and place her onto his shoulders, holding her with one hand as he slowly picked up everything before heading inside to meet them. Buck would now be in the kitchen while Luciana sat on the couch who was having an awkward conversation with him.

"Over here pretty boy," she'd pat the pillow next to her allowing him to place everything down before putting Kaito on the couch, handing her the bear which was massive compared to her bear she took to it quickly as she cuddled it before turning back to lay her head on his lap this made him smile at awe.

"She's pretty cute huh, is she yours?" Luciana commented now having a smug look at him.

"Yes, her name is Kaito," he mumbled back with a shy expression as she patted him on the head as if he were a pet.

"You're a good parent, buying her a teddy bear, being so gentle towards her and she seems to love you a lot so you have that going for you," she'd lower her head now facing her lap as she clasped both of her hands together in an awkward motion.

"Do you have any kids by chance?" He'd now be staring at Kaito rubbing her back as she began to yawn before crawling farther into his lap, he'd pick her up cradling her as she did so.

"No I'm far too young to have anything of the sort, after all, I'm only eight-teen," she'd chuckle as she looked back to Haru who had a warm smile written across his face, watching as he rocked the now asleep demon in his arms.

"Well, what about you I've spoken my age now what is yours?" she questioned. "I'm sixteen, but I'll be turning seventeen in a month," he answered quietly but truthfully still glancing down at Kaito, not moving any longer.

Luciana would have a shocked expression on her face as she wanted to question him further but stopped as she dreaded the thought of being rude or pushing him too far. Why would someone so young have to carry the burden of raising a child? She wondered.

"Does, does she have a mother?" She found the words slipping out of her with an unsettled whisper.

"No but I don't mind raising her alone, she makes me happy and I'm proud to have met her," he answered now looking up at Luciana who was star-struck.

"Kids, food is ready," Buck would walk in the living room placing down a large tray that looked heavy as it came down with a somewhat large thud onto the coffee table. Now snapping herself out of this conversation she'd look down at the food, her mouth would be watering.

There would be Yakitori skewers, baked potatoes sided with juicy-looking tomatos and other greens, a large plate of oatmeal rasin cookies caught Haru's eye though, he'd began placing three bowls of Sukiyaki the broth whisking their noses away sending their mouths water further.

"Everything looks so good, how did you cook it in such a short time?" Luciana questioned in awe as she quickly took the bowl of Sukiyaki not wasting a second to taste the noodles.

"A chief never reveal their secrets," he answered back before taking one of the roasted tomatoes, wiping all of the juice that had leaked from it down his cheek, pouring their glasses with white wine in the process.

They'd all began chatting about topics such as what they liked and disliked, favorite foods, etc. Haru now finshing two skewers and half of the soup would pick up a oatmeal rasin cookies, carefully biting into it only to let out a soft moan as the soft texture of it melted in his mouth making him recall how his maid and mother used to make them.

They were at peace now joking and laughing, they seemed so calm cheerful as they finished their meals Luciana and Haru would begin to clean up the dishes.

Haru placed the remains of the food in a lunch bag making sure to place the remain of his cash in it and a note that read, "Hope to see you again soon!" He'd place the bag in the fridge before heading to bed like everyone else.
