Haru would turn to his side rubbing his eyes sleepily as he looked up to the ceiling which was now radiating a tan orange across the room. He'd look to his side to see a passed-out Luciana who was drooling slightly making him chuckle to himself, as he looked down however he'd see a small cute Kaito curled up in his arms making his heartache for a moment.
He got up quietly making sure to place her down onto the pillow as not to disturb her before taking a pair of clothes out of the suitcase, heading to the bathroom, humming a small tune he heard in town.
"Whatcha doing kid?" Buck would ask as he walked into the kitchen, only to see Haru who was in uniform placing down plates at the small table, pouring orange juice sake as they sat down, "I made breakfast, do you mind waking up Luciana for me?"
"Um, ok..." Buck stared as he walked into the other room scratching his head slightly.
When everyone was sat at the table there was a large platter of different foods such as mixed rice with either ikura, eggs with furikake, pickled vegetables salad, grilled fish, and miso soup making everyone smile in delight as they thanked him as they'd ate.
"What's the occasion kid," he would clear his throat as he cleaned the crumbs from the toast that sat all over his upper lip.
"I wanted to pay you back in some way so, I bought some of our stock to make breakfast. I know it's not much but it's a start," Haru answered happily though there was something in his tone that said something was wrong.
He thought for a moment only to brush it off as they kept their conversation going, joking mostly in the process of trying to think of that reason.
When they finished he'd take up their plates cleaning them immediately. As he grabbed the lunch bag he had put the leftovers in then dashed after Luciana who was already out the door.
"Wait up!" He yelled clearly out of breath by this point as he held up the bag with one hand while the rest of his body tried to catch itself.
"What's that for," she'd question, a clear small tint of blush illuminated her freckles as she smirked at him. "For saving me I wanna make it up to you to so, here it's the dinner from last night I thought you might want it for lunch.." He'd spoken softly but intently as she took it.
Luciana clearly dazed bowed to thank him before turning around waving her hand back as she placed the bag around her neck.
"See you later pretty boy!" She'd scream as she turned the corner, still having bedhead and PJs on as she walked away, making him smile at the thought he may have made a new friend. Heading back inside however, he'd be met up with a tall man who looked at him with a serious expression.
"Haru, when did you stock the entire store. When did you wake up, and are you ok," Buck would stare at him as if he had done something wrong.
"I woke up early so I stocked up the shelves around six a.m so you wouldn't have to when the store was about to open. I thought the earlier we stock the shelves the sooner you could open sorry, but I'm ok really."
The bags under his eyes said otherwise, as his eyes were narrowed staring up at the man. "I don't want my new worker to overdo it, you don't have to work when it's not needed kid so please get some rest next time," he'd pat his head with a weak smile across his face as he nodded back in response, eyes full of happiness.
The day went by quickly the usual things they had to deal with yesterday, people coming in and buying everything though, he noticed a large group of people who were walking past the store chanting something as they walked by now being somewhat interested Haru made his way to the counter.
"Buck, can I go outside?" He'd look up at him who seemed to be puzzled at this point as he waved his hand signaling in agreement, he didn't quite pay attention to the question as he had an old lady yelling at him.
"Thanks, I'll be back soon promise!" Haru walked out of the door and trailed behind one of the women who was holding a large protest sign. They were wearing a large white robe with sandals making his eyes wander around her as he tapped her on the shoulder.
"What do you want can't you see we're in the middle of an anarchy child I'm not buying any goods," she'd glance back at him looking Haru up and down as if she were expecting something.
"Anarchy" He questioned himself, clasping his hands behind his back in an odd way. "I'm not selling any goods but what do you mean by anarchy? "
By this point, the woman had a judgemental expression as she turned fully around to face him, lowering her sign as she began to move her hand as she spoke.
"Our 'king' refuses to see the truth that is shifter kind we aren't equal at all. The shifters think there better than us humans, it's unruly so we are here to make things clear that humans should come before the shifters, they take our homes, our jobs, our food, and more!"
"It's not fair nor right for him to ignore us like this we should have far more rights than those beasts!" This made Haru's face wince at the thought of this woman knowing she was talking to a supposed "beast" in front of her.
"I think he is just busy I'm sure he'll get around to it.." He held his hands tighter as he spoke not trying to offend this crazy woman in any way.
"Humans first subsists because of the king's negligence. We humans have to stick together in this monstrous world after all."
"Are you new to this town?" She'd question now looking him straight in the eyes. "Yes I got here three days ago, I work at Buck's butchery," he'd avert his eyes, attempting not to look back into the woman's gaze.
"Ah, you're his new worker well let me ask you this since you've been here has anything happened relating to a shifter or perhaps that diabolical cheetah?"
"I-.. No," Haru thought back to that man from last night, his hands now dug into his skin as he bit his bottom lip slightly.
"Marada we are leaving, you can converse to them when we arrive back from the town square!" A voice broke the awkward silence as the woman turned around, glancing back at Haru with narrowed eyes.
"Stay away from those shifters there unpredictable and a danger, you should join us sometime maybe we can educate you properly." Marada would put up her sign as she followed behind the man chatting the same gibberish he had heard before.
What does she mean by.. "Haru!" Buck's voice echoed from the door pulling him from that thought. "Coming," he went inside, there sat Buck with his hand full of customers making him chuckle as he knew what needed to be done.
"Where were you kid?" His face appeared sharper than before as he rang up people expressing his talent though he had to admit this made him shudder at how good he was not getting overwhelmed.
"I was looking at that group of people that were in robes and signs do you know of them they said you were diabolical?" He spoke quietly as not to alert the people near him as he stocked up more cans by the counter.
"Well, I am very smart to wait...Humans first. You went to humans first!" Buck yelled causing everyone to stop for a moment making him gulp in realization. "You said I could go?" Haru whispered back to him as he sat behind the counter to support Buck with the crowd.
"When did I say that?" He looked down at him in corner of his eye by this point. "When that old woman was yelling at you."
"I'm not paying attention when I work so I probably waved you off and I waved to you to help me," he murmured making Haru stop and let out a weak laugh as he tried to hold it back, causing Buck to tighten his grip on the plastic bag he had.
"Kirk... It is not funny you cheeky little bugger!" He'd place a fist on Haru's head twisting it as he held him in a headlock. "But with all honestly stay away from those people, they are a cult of nut jobs willing to go through any length to please their "prophet," he continued.
"If they knew what you were or even caught a glimpse of you they would have no emotion towards putting you down, I even heard they've been known to kidnap shifters to do god knows what, all because the king doesn't treat them like gods."
When the day was over both of them sat on the couch Kaito at this point was crawling full force around the room. "So uh Buck," he strained his back as he spoke, but his bottom lip quivered. Why was his lip quivering for someone they barely knew?
"What is it kid are you ready for the festival in two days?" He questioned towards him noticing his posture.
"Yes but that's not what I wanted to talk to you about," he admitted as his voice broke somewhat in the process of him speaking. "Well then what are you on about?"
"Buck I want to move out I've been a burden to you and I don't-" Buck cut him off now understanding why he was so tense this morning.
"Kid stop, follow me for a moment then make this choice," he'd get up to pick up Kaito carrying her upstairs, motioning for him to follow.
As they made their way to a room Buck stopped for a moment and opened the door. There lay a bedroom which had a light blue bed, clear white drapes trickled down its size as vines planted themselves onto the ceiling and edge making Haru look in awe at the beautiful sight, it had everything a normal bedroom would. Including a table that sat a large stack of empty books.
"I know you may want to leave but would you like to stay here with me I have this extra room? Sorry for the messy decorations and I know the room is a little small but I have no issue with you staying as long as you want," he chuckled.
