The memories which had been triggered this time were far more vast and vivid than the scanty ones she had witnessed until now.
Earlier, she would only gain memories that had been triggered by a particular event that she experienced.
However, now that she had been forced to recall a certain memory, everything that was associated with that memory had been triggered, allowing her to know more than she had until now.
Reina's mind now felt stuffed with what she had gained but who was she to complain when she had desired exactly this in the first place?
Therefore, her eyes remained shut as she continued to peruse through those memories, finding anything that could be useful to her right now.
'Everything seems useful.' She corrected herself and continued what she was doing.
In Rein's memories, Reina found many images, some inside the palace of Valanthur and some, surprisingly, outside.
'Rein could leave the palace at will?' Her eyes widened in shock at this discovery, breaking the trance that she had been in until now.
She grimaced at the bright light that assaulted her pale and icy blue irises and she was quick to shield them from the sun's exposure.
Until now, she had been under the impression that since Rein served the King closely, she would not be allowed to step outside the Palace walls.
However, what she had seen in those memories revealed a different reality than what she had thought of earlier.
Lowering her head, she bit her lip and mulled over everything that she had seen and understood.
Her palm rested on her stomach and another frustrated groan, one of many she had let out today, escaped her lips.
This frustration was due to what she had seen just earlier.
In those vivid images, Rein was seen walking out of the palace with a large backpack that acted as her luggage.
She refused the carriage meant to transport the workers of the Palace and instead, strode in a certain direction until she reached a busy town square.
Reina felt her head spin at the numerous twists and turns that her predecessor had taken until she reached her destination.
All the way from the busy town square, Rein landed up in a deserted corner of the town.
Just by taking a look at the abandoned and decrepit buildings she passed by, Reina could assume that this was not a place that still had occupants.
This town was the Capital of the Valanthur Kingdom yet it still possessed such deserted places where no one could be found.
However, Rein did not care about it and continued walking forward.
She soon stopped before a certain dilapidated building, one which was inconspicuous thanks to the numerous similarly worn-down structures next to it.
Without wasting too much time, Rein first scanned her surroundings before entering that building.
The high priority that her predecessor had given to maintaining secrecy was commendable to Reina as not a soul had followed her there.
For a person who stayed next to the King and served him to be found here would be suspicious no matter how she tried to explain it.
However, Rein had taken all the necessary precautions to ensure that no one would know of her whereabouts and questionable activities.
Reina had thought that once Rein entered that building, these memories would come to an end but she was sorely wrong as her memories continued further.
This building was nothing but a ruse used to trick anyone on the off-chance that they had succeeded in following her all the way to this place.
Reina applauded her predecessor for having such forethought and planning for escape strategies without being overconfident about her abilities.
'That building was just a front for anyone following her.' She recalled what she had seen through Rein's memories.
The building she had entered looked even worse on the inside than the broken-down exterior.
However, Rein did not linger around as she once again walked through numerous maze-like corridors.
Her confusing stroll inside the building came to an end in the basement which looked like it could collapse at any time due to the obvious lack of menial and major maintenance to its structure.
Her feet came to a halt before a black stoned wall, which Reina assumed to be mold covering it.
'Don't touch it!' She grimaced when she had witnessed her predecessor feeling around that eerie wall.
Even when she knew that this was only a fragment of Rein's past memories, the germaphobe Reina could not help herself from making her thoughts known.
To see her predecessor touching that mold-covered wall with her bare hands was making her nauseous just by looking at it.
Thus she did not cover her eyes nor did she look away, instead, she widened her eyes in horror at the sight before her.
However, as she grumbled and nagged at Rein for touching that dingy and dirty wall, a creaking sound echoed in the silent basement.
This had worked like magic in stopping the onslaught of medical facts that she had been spewing, explaining why she should not touch anything in this biohazardous place.
While her concerned thoughts had come to a halt now, her attention was focused on the source of that creaking noise in this already scary basement.
The wall that Rein had touched formed cracks within it and dust fell to the floor, making her take a step away to not get any on her clothes.
The blocks of stone on the wall first sunk inside and as she watched, a partition was created once the large blocks of stone covered in mold moved more than a couple inches inside.
'A secret door?' Reina discovered that the partition acted as a hidden entrance that had reacted after her predecessor had activated it.
Rein's hands which touched the wall had initiated the unlocking mechanism which resulted in the creaking sounds followed by the wall splitting open to form a door.
Now that a large hole in the wall was seen, the young vampire clutched the luggage she carried on her back all along and took her first step inside.
Reina could already guess that beyond the wall was a secret passage but she did not know where it would lead her predecessor.
Therefore, she paid attention to see what happened next.
As soon as Rein entered that passage, the creaking sounds echoed once again and darkness engulfed her surroundings.
The wall had sealed itself shut, leaving Rein no chance to turn back now.
Her curious eyes discerned how Rein traversed through a pitch-black corridor where she did not have any worries about losing her way.
The fact that Rein had done this quite a few times in the past added to the existence of the single path before her, made things easy for her.
'No more twists and turns.' Reina rejoiced as her head had been spinning after watching Rein's cumbersome journey to reach this place.
Thankfully, the path ahead was dark but simple and all she needed to do was keep walking ahead.
Reina sighed when at long last the darkness was beginning to fade and she could see traces of light seeping into this dark pathway.
Witnessing what Rein had done in the past, her eyes first narrowed at the bright light which only got brighter as she walked in its direction.
However, soon, it was time to widen those icy blue eyes of hers as the sight before her now demanded to be viewed with the utmost attention.
'Woah!' She exclaimed at what she discovered when Rein had reached the end of that earlier dark corridor.
