Chapter 7 - Be Positive

"I don't liked my new school previously but now I have adjusted. I am sure you too will be." Ria was listening to these words from her cousin Paul. Ria hanged up the phone and lied on the bed.

Just a week ago, Ria with her parents shifted to Satna, a suburban town. The town lies in a mountainous valley with dense forest all around it. Ria's father works as a forest officer and was transferred to Satna. Though people here are well mannered and well settled. All the people are very much friendly. Ria's mother was quite satisfied coming here. Ria was admitted to a high school in Satna. Right now it's summer vacation going on, so Ria has to start school the next month.

The school has been opened after the summer vacation and till now thirteen working days had passed, but Riya felt very uneasy. The other students were ready to be friends of Ria but Ria, out of anxiety and uneasiness avoided them.

Months passed and it was time for the second term examination. Ria couldn't bring the required grades. The teacher Miss Mary noticed the unusual behaviour of Ria and decided to talk to her. Before the lunch break, she asked Ria that she wanted to meet her after school hours.

Riya was standing and waiting for Miss Mary outside the staff room. All the students and teachers have gone out of school. Miss Mary asked Ria to come in. Miss Mary asked," Ria, my dear, are you facing any problem? I mean to say that, you always look tensed and full of anxiety since you came to this school. You can share your problems with me." Riya replied though in a very light tone," Yes, miss. I have a problem." She then told her about her father's transfer that brought her here. Six months passed, but still, Riya didn't manage to adjust to the surroundings here. After listening to her problems, Miss Mary told her," My dear, nothing is permanent in the world. The world changes according to time. But, if you only think about the past or future, nothing would make you happy. It's better to focus on today. What you do at present, will decide your future. So cheer up!!! You have a long way to go, make friends and hang out with them, study, do your hobbies. Live your life to the fullest." It was already dusk and darkness was emerging in the green field of the school. Looking at the time, Miss Mary told, " Oh! It's already late today. Go your home, Riya. We will meet again tomorrow." While returning home, Riya was thinking about Miss Mary's words. Coming home, she kept the bag and told her mother," Mom, tomorrow I and my friends will be going to a nearby park. It will be late for me to come home tomorrow. " Mother was greatly surprised but also happy for the change in Ria.
