Two months later. The process of transferring property ownership was about to end. She carefully read the papers before signing it. She decided to put her house and lot under Gia's name. It would also be for the best because her foster parents are consistent in threatening her that if she will not give the property to them, they will report her for being psychologically unstable to handle her inheritance.
"Already done?" He asked and she nodded while smiling. They gave the signed papers to their lawyer and everything will be processed soon.
"Are you really sure about this?" He asked and she took her seat on the couch, massaging her temples as she felt tired. She looked at him and noticed that her vision was blurry.
"Yes, Hikaru. I think.. I'm going back to my old self. I can't see you clearly." She mumbled. They went to the hospital yesterday for her monthly check-up and her ophthalmologist suggested eyeglasses for her.
"Do you want to wear your glasses?" He asked but she shook her head. She rested her eyes for a while and he just let her sleep on the couch.
He took her phone from the coffee table and dialed Gia's number. He doesn't really need to buy for himself, so he is just using her phone instead. He talked to her for a few minutes before ending the call. When he went back to the living room, she was deeply asleep. He held her wrist and checked her pulse. It's getting weaker. The dark energy she is using to see is slowly depleting. Once it is fully consumed, her body will give up and she will die. He doesn't want to add more dark energy in her body or else, she will have a hard time going back to the human world once she is reincarnated in the underworld.
The moon was already shining bright outside when she woke up. She heard him preparing dinner in the kitchen. She stood up but her legs were numb and she fell on the floor. He rushed to her side and carried her back on the couch. Her body became dependent on the dark energy he gave to her. She tried to stand up once more but she fell down again.
"Hikaru, what is going on? Why can't I move my legs?" She asked and he kissed her forehead to ease her anxiousness.
"It is because you're running out of dark energy. You can see things because I gave you a bit of my powers." He explained and she weakly nodded. She can still move her upper body, at least.
"Love.. be honest with me. Will I die already?" She whispered and he carried her in his arms to go back to the kitchen.
"Yes. One more week. Don't worry. Once we have arrived at your new home, you will be back to your younger self. You will feel better." He put her down on the chair and she smiled softly when she saw the mushroom soup and potato croquettes that he prepared.
"I need to tell Gia that we will leave soon. She told me that she will already get married next year with Reiki-san and I want to attend their wedding." She was too tired to move her whole body but she did her best to eat and finish the food.
"Yes, love. We will attend their wedding." He smiled at her. He held her hand gently and watched her enjoy the food.
Right after dinner, she quickly fell asleep. He carried her once again in his arms and walked in her bedroom to tuck her in. He stared at her sleeping figure and when he was about to caress her cheek, he decided to pull his hand away. He should refrain himself from giving her more dark energy. It will be dangerous for her because her soul is still in the human world.
He went out of her room and silently closed the door. He walked out to the garden and stared at the tree that she has been taking care of. He made sure first that she would be safe inside the house before opening the portal to the underworld. He pressed his hands on the trunk and a huge black portal appeared. He walked inside and he disappeared along with it.
"Father, I'm back." He said, wearing full black clothes. Servants quickly approached him and bowed their heads before fixing his cape.
One of them was about to put the prince crown on top of his head but he gestured not to do it. He knelt and bowed his head. The last time he went back home was last month and now, he is back to report what is happening to his bride. The King is glad that he found someone who really accepted him for what he is and once she arrived at their kingdom, he will welcome her with open arms.
They are not that ruthless but they have rules to follow and responsibilities to fulfill. The Queen, who was also a human, already died a long time ago and this drove the King to push his son to look for his future bride. He lost the will to rule the underworld, so he is already giving the throne to his son. He has another child and it is Hikaru's older sister but she is already married to a human.
"Sister didn't go home?" He asked and the King shook his head. He wanted to be a doting grandfather but his eldest daughter is not coming home, so he got no chance to play with his grandchildren.
"Why don't you marry again?" He asked once more and the King furrowed his brows. He saw this, so he immediately took his words back.
"Are you nuts? Why would I replace your mother?" The King asked angrily and he just shrugged his shoulders before walking back to the portal.
"Whipped old man." He murmured and the King shouted that he heard it. He grinned playfully, waving his hand while walking in the portal.
