Chapter 11 - The Day She Died

He rushed out of the portal when he saw at the end of it that it was already morning. The time frame of the underworld is different from the human world. He slammed the door open and he saw Fuyu on the floor, trying to crawl out of her room. He almost forgot that she can't stand up anymore. She smiled widely when she heard him approaching.

"I thought you left me for good already. I was calling you several times but you were not around." She said and he quickly carried her in his arms.

"I'm sorry. I went back home for a while to report something to my father." He walked to the living room and she chuckled softly.

"That's why you're wearing black clothes." He carefully put her down on the couch and he nodded.

"I'll change later. I'll prepare breakfast first." He said but she gripped on his sleeve weakly, shaking her head.

"No need. I have no appetite, love. Just stay here besides me." She whispered while lying down on the couch.

Her face is already pale and anytime, she might die. He sat beside her and placed her head on his lap. She closed her eyes. She can't move her whole body anymore. All she wanted to do was to sleep. She was thinking about how she would tell Gia about her condition but the moment she fell asleep on his lap, she completely forgot about it.

"I already told Gia that we will leave soon. I didn't expect that it would be today." He mumbled while gently caressing her hair.

After a few minutes, he left her in the living room for a while to go to her room. He took her phone from the bedside table and sent Gia a message that they will leave already and Fuyu will just call her once they arrive at his home. After sending the message, he put her phone inside the drawer. He went back to the living room and carried her in his arms once again. The portal went open and walked in. She was smiling until her last breath.

The servants lined up to welcome them. Seeing the Prince's bride makes them happy. They didn't expect that they would be able to see her today. The King stood up from his throne and quickly approached them. He is excited to see his future daughter-in-law. The Prince knelt while hugging her in his arms.

"We have arrived, Father. My sweet winter suffered a lot during her twenty-five years of existence in the human world. We decided to get married when we finally reincarnated her." He said and the King gestured to the servants to prepare a chamber for her.

They immediately followed the King's order. They filled the bed with red rose petals. The Prince brought her to the chamber and placed her down on the bed. The servants went out and closed the doors. He stood up across from her and lifted his hand to start the ritual. Her lifeless body slowly floated in the air and his eyes went black while extracting her soul out of it.

White smoke filled the chamber and her human body turned into ashes. The clothes she was wearing fell on the bed. He mumbled a few spells and a new body with the same features appeared. He moved his fingers and a pair of black wings covered her new body. When he put his hand down, she moved closer to him. Her black wings revealed her and she opened her eyes.

"Hikaru.." She whispered and he smiled softly. She landed on her feet and hugged him tight. She is feeling like a new person.

"How are you feeling?" He asked, hugging her back. She looked at him and smiled widely before pecking his lips.

"Much better. I can see you clearly. I can move my whole body. It feels like my illnesses have finally disappeared." She answered and when she released him from the hug, she noticed that she was wearing a revealing gown.

"I don't like this, Hikaru." She covered her chest with her hands since the dress is off-the-shoulder and she feels like naked.

"You are more beautiful when you wear something like that, love. Don't worry. You will not wear revealing dresses when we get back to the human world." He said and she pouted before nodding.

She looked around and saw her clothes on the bed. She blushed faintly and took it since her undergarments were included there. He laughed softly and took it from her to put it at the side. She puffed her cheeks and they went out of the chamber already. It was her first time to see a huge and glamorous kingdom, so her eyes were full of stars.

"Reiki-san?!" She exclaimed when she saw the King. She cannot be mistaken. The King literally looks like Reiki.

"I'll show you my mother's portrait later. I know you will be surprised." He whispered to her ear and she narrowed her eyes. She already had a hunch that the Queen looks like Gia.

"She looks like Gia, right?" She whispered back and he nodded his head many times while snickering. The King cleared his throat as he felt annoyed that he can't be lovey-dovey with the Queen anymore because she passed away a long time already.

"The wedding will be held tomorrow. For now, enjoy your stay here, my daughter-in-law. Give me lots of grandchildren, okay?" The King said and her eyes widened, looking at Hikaru.

"You didn't tell me that we will have lots of babies." She said, feeling helpless because she will be the one who will get pregnant and give birth to them.

"How many babies do you want?" He asked and she firmly showed him her forefinger. He smirked at her and shook his head.

"Let's have three." He grinned widely and she shook her head many times. She furrowed her brows and covered his face with her hands.

"We will only have one baby!" She said to the King and he held her wrists, wrapping her arms around his waist.

"Three babies. I assure you that, Father." He smiled widely and she started whining, burying her face on his chest.
