Chapter 3 - Silhouettes

Instead of cleaning, she ended up taking a nap. He carefully placed her down on the couch and put a pillow under her feet. Then, he checked the room where he will temporarily stay. He looked around and saw old photo frames hanging on the wall. He stood in front and stared at it. It was a photo of her twin brother. He can tell that he was only four when they took it.

"He is in heaven." He mumbled and he shifted his gaze on the other photo. It was the twins' parents. He smiled softly and the door automatically went locked.

The windows went open and everything behind him moved on its own. He is just using telekinesis to do everything. He made sure that it will finish quietly as he doesn't want her to wake up because of it. After a short period of time, the room is clean as new. He closed the windows and went out of the room. He went to the bathroom and took his shirt off. The black ink on his skin is slowly occupying his whole chest. He didn't say anything and just put his shirt back. He went back to the living room as if nothing happened. He sat on the couch and stared at her. She is wearing a white long night dress. He can't tell her that he is the one who changed her clothes last night. He didn't really touch her. He just let his mind do it for him.

It was already afternoon when she woke up. She stretched her arms up while sitting on the long couch. She had a good nap. She will take a warm bath later. She hugged the pillow and yawned. She didn't know that he was just there and watching her.

"You had a good nap?" He asked and she almost shrieked. She blushed faintly as she felt embarrassed.

"Yes. I will take a bath later." She mumbled. He nodded. They watched the television silently. He has nothing to do anymore but later, he will prepare dinner.

The days passed by quickly and it is already Friday. He waited for her in the living room and when she got out, she was wearing a long baby blue summer dress. She was holding her long cane and she got her sling bag hanging on her shoulder. He took the long cane from her and disassembled it. He put it inside his sling bag and held her hand instead. She looked at him and gave a questioning look.

"You don't look like a blind with how you look today. It will be better if you will hold onto me instead." He said and she slowly nodded. She can't hide her blushing face.

She is now wondering why her foster parents got a male caretaker instead of a female. Truthfully, she didn't expect that they would hire a caretaker for her. She thought they didn't care about her anymore but this didn't really make her heart happy. She thinks that they pity her because of her current condition. She held his hand gently and when they got outside, he made sure that she would be able to keep up with his pace.

At one point, she is thankful that she can't see those people who are looking at them. She will feel bad if they say something about him just because she is holding his hand. The hospital is just half an hour walk away from her home. She prefers to walk and it serves as her exercise. The nurses and doctors who already know her greeted them. They asked her if he is her boyfriend but she denied and said that he is only her caretaker.

"You're slowly recovering your vision. Keep that up. How much have you seen lately?" The doctor asked and she looked around.

"I can see silhouettes. Right now. I can see your silhouette, Sensei. But still, everything is dark but your silhouette is darker, so I know that you're there. And when it is daytime or there is light, I can easily identify it." She said as she remembered when her caretaker was opening her bedroom windows.

"You're doing great. Less stress and more healthy food, okay? Don't sleep late at night. Take enough rest." She smiled and nodded.

It had been diagnosed that her brain and eyes were affected when she turned blind. It is now less stressful for her because she has a caretaker. She will not encounter complaining people that will lead her back to her stressful moments. She is optimistic that she will be able to restore her vision soon. If she keeps on thinking negative things, it will not really help her.

After having her check-up with the ophthalmologist, she went to her psychologist. She confessed to her that she tried to take her own life away. She didn't receive any reprimand from her. Instead, she listened to her more. She informed her about her new caretaker.

"A man? Are you fine having a man in your own home?" Her psychologist asked and she nodded. She pouted a bit while fiddling her fingers.

"He's taking care of me well. He is kind. He is the one who saved me this time." She felt her cheeks burning. She doesn't know why but whenever she is talking about him to others, she feels like she is talking about her boyfriend.

She left the office when she was finally done with the session. She saw him waiting for her at the lobby area and when he saw her, he quickly stood up and held her hand. She is feeling the same warmth she received that day. It is melting her heart. He asked her if she is already done with her appointments and she nodded.

"Can we have some ice cream at the park?" She asked and he nodded while having a small smile on his lips. She can't really see him smiling but she can feel it. Her hearing, smelling and touching senses become stronger.

"I want chocolate ice cream." She smiled softly. It was her first time to smile at him and he just stared at her and enjoyed the view of her.
