"You there, what are you doing stealing on our turf?" Isabelle asked as they moved towards the strangers.
"We aren't stealing anything, and who said anything about this region belonging to you" A man who seemed to be the leader of the group retorted.
"This is why the head sent me here, I guess" Isabelle said to herself. "There is a misunderstanding. So why don't y'all just go back to your institute and clear it with your higher-ups because this place belongs to us on grounds of an agreement" She said back to the other group.
"Why don't you make us" the leader replied smirking.
"Gladly" she also replied, without much stress as her bracelet transformed to a staff.
The research team of both sides distanced themselves from their respective combat teams
"Leave this to us" Isabelle said to the rest of the team while kai moved over to her side, "Un" Kai nodded and she continued "If it gets too tough, you can join".
"Cocky, aren't you" The man who led the other team said. "It will be your downfall" he finished his words as his necklace transformed to what looked like a hammer, 2 meters tall.
"I'll take the leader, you handle the rest of the team" Isabelle said to Kai.
Isabelle and the man made their way to each other and clashed. Isabelle unleashed a flurry if strikes to which the man responded with his own strike. Isabelle upped her speed. To her surprise, the man was still able to parry her strikes.
While Isabelle was fighting the leader Kai was facing the rest of the enemy team. They encircled him and one of them shouted "jointed sipiritual energy formation". With their steele, they all activated the same rune on their wrists. The formation made it possible for each and every of the shadowhunter in the formation to combine the spiritual energy of the rest with his own, the more the users, the stronger the power of each of them. With increased spiritual energy, a portion of the group was focused on trapping him, while another portion of the group was focused on attacking him. "Slow" Kai said in his mind as he activated his speed rune and started weaving through the attacks and spiritual energy meant to trap him. While doing so, he thought of what to do next. "Although, we are stronger than humans, we still have human body frames. That should do it, then I can go assist Isabelle. Next, Kai increased his speed breaking out of the formation and then he used his fingers to attack each of the shadow hunters on specific parts of their heads and limbs, rendering some unconscious and some paralyed.
On the other hand, Isabelle and man were all over the place, spiritual energy clashing, dusts rising. "How is he so fast with that kind of hammer" Isabelle thought while fighting him. As if to answer the question on her mind, the man replied " In case you haven't noticed, I am a wind user".
Later on Isabelle slacked a bit and the man was able to make ample distance to jump, charged his hammer with a terrifying amount of spiritual and struck towards isabelle as he landed. The attack landed and it spread in all directions, even towards his and the opponent's research team.
The attack had weakened to breeze before it reached his research team but the same couldn't be said about Isabelle's team.As they were running away, terrified, Ian saw a symbol appear in his line of sight, It looked like a rune. He stayed back to draw it. "IAN!!!" Clarke shouted. "What is this boy doing trying to get himself killed?" he said in his mind.
Turning around, Clarke decided to go back to Ian while he was drawing the symbol and the attack was almost upon them.
