Introduction: The Growden Father
The Department of Human Resources and Creature Comforts is owned by a dynasty. The Growden Family was a bloodline that died in 1986. Linus Growden was the first father and he turned his name into a clan.
Linus Growden stole around eighty slaves and a plantation in 1784. The previous owner was Oceanus Alloways. Oceanus's father Benajah Alloways did bring an African woman from Africa during his exploration trips. The two married in consent and had a biracial child. When slavery came to Virginia, Shani and her newborn child, Barasa, were taken and put up for auction. Oceanus sold his land and eventually swindled his land back.
Linus stole slaves and made Oceanus, Shani, and Barasa work in their own home.
The first building of the DOHRCC was actually the Alloway's house. He turned a two-bedroom, one-floor building into a small clinic. Shani was a house nurse and watched as people sat in her house.
Growden built a small clinic but did not gain his medical degree. In fact, when Linus ventured to be a doctor, he had to abandon it due to a heart problem where he passed out a lot.
He unsuccessfully tried to join the college with his illness and the college refused to let him educate. It was not because of illness but his board views on the Theory of Again and Again.
People who read these journals thought Linus Growden could be a danger to others and then he heard about the African myth.
He was fueled by mere theory and it failed, he vowed to take 999,999 slaves. He kept a book on how to segregate them by looks, body, and intelligence. African tribesmen were trained to stand in front of the house. African women that were too thin would work the kitchen, children were made to do small chores, and those that spoke with wisdom were told to keep the slaves on the land.
Luckily, Growden never got to his goal. He married five women and if the baby did not look passible, he disowned them.
Linus kept around eighty slaves and he was raped by two men that came from a tribe. He cut their genitals off and finally cut off the penises of twenty-four black men in his house. Young boys were forced to wear ties around the penis till eventually, it would fall off.
In 1904, Growden killed one of his African women for trying to poison his food and he claimed that she did not die.
Shani was old and most of the slave women looked to her for guidance. Shani was questioned by Linus if she put one of her 'black niggerness' and insulted her.
The woman that died named herself and it was unknown what her original name was. Shani, in her age kept a box of letters with the household names but out of eighty only thirty-one were found and fourteen were unreadable.
The woman that was said to revive haunted the house. Growden claimed that she gasped for air and hid in the corners of his room. He said that her eyes moved and she appeared thinner than usual.
Linus woke up with cuts until his penis went missing.

Cedrica's feet slide across the dirt. She made a trail as she came to the house surrounded by nowhere. There a naked tree with a rope hanging from a branch and a dead vampire beside it.
Hatch was loose in his grip but she couldn't pull away. The home was two stories with brown paneling. It was night out, the porch lights lit up the front step and inside she saw people having fun.
"Let me fucking go!"
"Stop all that fussing," he wrenched. "You're going to serve in my house. You understand?"
"Fuck you! I ain't no slave!" Cedrica exasperated. Hatch reached back and beat her across the face. Cedrica couldn't hold her bleeding lip, she licked the red inside her mouth. "Now behave little bitch." Hatch took her by the back of her neck like a mother cat carrying their kitten.
The doors open on their own. Outside, the windows showed a party but inside; a man hung from the roof, there was a woman laying face down and two men on the steps upon entering the home.
One had fangs as she could see and the other had been shot in the back. The one with fangs seemed to be sitting on the step, maybe he was still alive?
"I have to train you get. So you can keep up appearances. My last bitch ran from me. But you'll do better right?"
"I'm a fucking kid!"
"You'll grow into it…" the mannequin head smiled, an unsettling sight. She could tell the head was fake but the teeth were real.
Where was the rest of him?
"Now get ready…" he hoist her up off her feet and carried her to a part of the house that was spacious. In the area were a set of tires. Hatch looked at her, "Why do you fear?"
"I'm not scared of you!" she voiced meekly.
"You didn't tell that to Vijay…" said Hatch. "Be consistent."
"Fuck you!"
"Keep that same mentality…" He pointed at the black tires in a zigzag formation. "Hop"
"You hop!" And Hatch swung his hand across her nose. "Do it."
She stared at the tires with tears covering her gaze. "Just like before… Just like hopscotch. Now hop." his voice never lifted.
He threw her hands to the side. Cedrica gazed towards the side back to the door. Spikes came up from the ground, blocking the door.
Cedrica thought to herself. This felt familiar and her legs twitched looking at the tires. And strangely enough, she knew what to do. "I can't"
"Why? You did it for Vijay."
"I--" she stuttered. "That also means you can dance." Hatch's head bent towards her, her eyes widen. "You can step." his voice echoed.

"Come on Tori, we gotta practice." said Cedrica in her cheerleading outfit.
She stood in position, her legs apart. "Mama said don't get the uniform dirty. She ain't got no washing powder yet."
"And she ain't got no quarters."
"So you know?" she furrowed. "So, I'm still finna practice."
Torielle rolled her eyes. "We can practice for tryouts tomorrow," she stressed. "And Ms. Hodgson said, if the uniform dirty, she's taking points off and you need three hundred points you get a hundred for creativity. Minus 50 if you twerk."
"Damn…" she put her legs together. "For real."
"What--why--why are you so stupid?" sneered Torielle.
"I'm not stupid. I just forgot." Cedrica shrugged. "Imma tell mama you out here trying to kill yourself again." warned her sister drawing chalk in the apartment parking lot. "How?" she squinted. "Tori, I'm sorry I asked you anything."
"Every time we have a conversation, it ends in regrets." she drew a flower on the lot with sparkles.
"Hey!" the girls glanced at the second-floor apartments. "Lord, its that Indian…" murmured Tori. "Don't look at him."
"I think he's nice."
"He just went to jail like last fucking night for robbery somebody in these apartments…" exclaimed Torielle. "See, when mama come back from that place. I'm finna snitch cause she said--"
"Shut up, god." Cedrica looked at the man above. His hair was feathery. He wore a red plaid shirt with tore jeans. He brought a weed stick to his lips and quirked his brow at Cedrica. "Come up here," he waved his hand. "I got something for you."
"If you go upstairs I'm finna--"
"I don't care what you finna do. Go ahead and do it." Cedrica twisted her neck and headed upstairs. Apartment 218.
"Mister, I never got your name." she said as she walked into the musty apartment. To the left, a man sat on the couch with his tail wagging but was quickly dismissed.
She thought it was smoke.
"Bāccākē ēkhānē ḍhukatē ditē tumi asustha." said the individual. "Relax, Āmi kichu nā rēkhē gēlē ēṭā abaidha naẏa."
The man rose his brow, "You have a son."
"Yaunasaṅgama āphrikāna ullēkha karabēna nā." he looked back at Cedrica. "I run a candy store in town. You want a freebie?" he said. "And my name is--Ç̴̨̛̛̛̯̘̰̳̬͉̮̜̝̗̦̰̮̭̭̜͙̟͇̺̬͕͍̲͛͆̀͆͛̏̌̃̄͒͒̆̔̏̌͜͜͜͝͝ḩ̶̡̨̫̞̞̪̪͔̻̺͖̗͕̝͇̭̤̔̿̄͑̌̆̃̆̕̚̚͝ͅa̵̡̛̛͚͉̱͈̼̟̽̒̈́͌̀̈͋̉͊̿̏̂̽̊̈́̀͑̒̀̑̄̈́͋̆̿͐͐̽̔̈́̅̓͗̕̕͘͘͝͝͠͝͝ͅn̸̛̛̳͍̲̘͇͔͔͐͗͌̄̎͊̇̓͒̑͆̀͑͂̓̀͊̍͗͐̋͐̀̂̃̇̓͠͝͝g̸̫̹̟̺͋́a̷̧̨̧̗̖̦̥̙̙̰͚͖̗̖͈͖̗̦̥̟̗͖͋̓̇̃͑̊̔͘͜ͅͅņ̷̞̗͔̬̩̮̣͇͈̰̰͉̺̠̞̺̞̣͓͇̘̫̜̜̱̤̻̋͑͒͊̀̌̈͌̊̄͛͑͌̉͆͒́̂̂̓̈͌͂́͘̕̕͜͝͠͠y̵̡̧̧͓̻̞͈͙̙̩̘̲̼̮̩̠̭̝̐̂̽̃͐͂̓̄͋͊̓̈́̌́͑̂͆̃̃̀̇͘͜͜͝͝͠ Vijay. She nodded and followed him to his room.
She could see that the walls were brown and the carpet a dark blue. A pile of pants with a stained red shirt. All she thought was, 'he needs to do laundry'.
Vijay goes into his drawer and gives her a pack of kitkats and a yellow pack. "Thanks." She took both, he snatches the second pack and smirks. "That's not candy."
"I'm sorry." she frowns a bit.
"So, your parent's home?"
"My mama went looking for a job or something."
"Really?" Vijay pinched her cheek. "You can tell her I have a business, I'm looking for work. "Huh?" there was a deep viberation. The right side of her head felt heavy. "I said tell your mother I'm hiring. It's a little shop in Nova Scotia."
"Nova?" but they were in Brampton, Ontario. "Ok. Thank you." she turned to leave. Cedrica went to the door, into the small hallway before she collapsed to the floor.
"Chain!"
"Oh shut the fuck up." he hissed, dismissing his incognito. "You keep telling me shit I don't care about."
"How is this going to get your castle back?"
"This is literally the goddamn antichrist. Fuck it." Changany picked up Cedrica. "Imma make a new castle."
