Rain sprayed from the clouds of Canada. Mist took the child's vision but he walked in the woods, following a phosphorescent pink light.

Or was it smoke?"

Unwin followed across the woods, the creature had a human size footprint. "Maybe it's big foot…" he smiled. "I could be friends with big foot."

He jogged into the woods and kept his eyes on the ground that lit up by moonlight. He thought to call for the beast.

"You came to my window!" he shouted. "HI BIGFOOT!" He went forward into the dark. What would he say if he saw bigfoot? What if he became famous for finding bigfoot? He could live with bigfoot, start a television series.

BigFoot and Me.

Winning Feet on Animal Planet.

CAUGHT, no, that was a documentary.

TRAILS, that could work.

He looked up from the dirt and there was a shadow against a tree. He inspected the figure, it was too dark to make out a face. He reached out and grabbed the hair. He shook the head and the head came off. "Wow…"

He held the head up and saw the still the still appearance. "How did you die?" he asked. "I'll name him Early. You like that name?"

He had a head. Maybe it was a zombie? He liked zombies especially the big mutant ones. "Let's go find shit. Like an adventure."

He carried the head under his arm. "Now I have the head of a zombie and a murder." Unwin search through the man's pockets. He found an ID card.

"He must be touring…"

The back of his neck was warm. Unwin gazed over his shoulder. He turned fully and met teeth with a large overbite. The beast snarled, "ʞɹɐp ǝɥʇ oʇuᴉ ǝɯɐɔ no⅄"

"Huh?"

"ɯᴉɥ ǝq oʇ ʇou ɹo ɯᴉɥ ǝꓭ" the creature's jowls moved. He walked on all fours as he circle Unwin. His claws dug into the corpse, digging into the last of his guts. "·ǝɯoɥ ǝɯ ǝʞɐꓕ ·pooɟ ǝɯ puᴉꓞ"

He drew 'home' in the dirt. Unwin shook his head, the beast swiped his claws over his head. "I can't!" he flew back and dropped the head. "¡ʍoN"

He stumbled back, legs trembled with the idea of run. But what if it caught him? And it ate him like that man? Why did he come here to begin with.

"·ʎpoq puɐ ʅnos ǝɯ ǝʌᴉꓨ"

"I can't understand you!" Unwin's legs scurried, one foot followed behind the other. The monster roared, words coming from it's black throat. A tree in sight shook. HE heard the thumbing of the soil under.

The beast howled, leaves from nature cascaded down. His heart fluttered in his chest at the right time to remind him he had asthma.

Unwin landed face first slipping on wet grass. HE hoisted himself up and a pain made him kneel.

The creature stampede towards him. He couldn't get up as he screamed. This large gorilla being seized his legs and swung him into a tree. Unwin breath left him.

"ʍoH ···ʍouʞ ʅʅᴉʇs I"

"I hate you." Cedrica complained. "You don't ever get in trouble."

"You that now when we at the store."

"This isn't wallmart." she pouted. "You the favorite child. She don't never yell at you and call you stupid."

"I'm fat." Torielle put the jelly back on the shelf. "That means I shouldn't be able to move and I keep my mind on snacks. Meanwhile, you trying suck grown man dick!" her voice rised. Cedrica slapped the air for her to quiet down.

"What happened to the store?" asked Davea.

"I don't mean to be racist. I'm tired of all these fucking Arabs." he opened the register. "eight hundred dollars out my business just dived in hell."

"He was Arabia or India?" she questioned. "As long as they look a lot, imma keep calling them the same thing."

"That's not fair. We black, we get the same treatment." she said.

"So I'm a terrorist?" he glanced at her.

"You remember the panther party?" she twisted her lips. "Everybody except white folk."

He didn't admit it. "Call yo kids…"

"Girls! Especially Cece!"

Cedrica and Tori gave each other the death stare. "If you hadn't said anything. My boyfriend would be alive." her voice hushed.

"ANNNNND… I'm snitching!" she walked off.

"We need to leave, the nutty butters is scared."

"I know!" Tori scoffed. "I'm hanging around a hoe!"

The girls went to the cash register as summoned. Tori placed the things she wanted and essentials. Soap, toothpaste and graham crackers. Davea tapped the box of soap, "Go back in and get the black soap."

"I don't like it. It makes me feel dirty." she scorned.

"Go and get it." Davea insisted.

"Why black soap make you feel dirty but sweat don't?"

"Bitch!" Tori looked at her sister on her side. Torielle looked for the african black soap, she swiped off the shelves and returned.

Mr. Ingram scanned the items and looked at Tori. "Go and get the rest. How many did you see?"

"I didn't count."

"Go get the rest." he said. Tori huffed and got the soap. Davea batted an eye, "Why did you tell her that?"

"I'm moving, actually I'm changing the store. Candy is only valued to children. I'm selling sweet, school supplies, and bootleg jewels."

"What wrong with that?"

"You tell me? These stealing ass niggas will steal anything and pawn it off. I saw my goddamn TV in the window."

"The one with the broken antenna?"

"That's the one…" he narrowed his eyes.

"Mr. Ingram!" Tori called. "All of them?"

"All of them baby. I can't sell shit."

"Maybe you should try." Cedrica smiled. "I mean that's basically what manure is." Cedrica bent her leg and leaned at the counter. "I learned that at school."

"That's good…" he squinted.

Davea slapped Cedrica's nose. "Hush, with yo rude ass."

Torielle return with the rest of the soap. "I counted, 21 pieces of soap and they cost 3.99."

Davea snapped her eyes at Mr. Ingram. "Why did you--"

"Calm down," he rose his palm. "It's free, like I said, I ain't selling shit."

"We have options in this world Mister. Flowers give us oxygen so why not sell flower shit?"

"Cedrica," she growled. "Be quiet."

Cedrica licked her lips, "Ain't y'all fucking?"

"I'm so sick of yo fucking ass. Every goddamn day, I put up with yo fucking shit. You just mouthin' off in the fucking store like you don't know how to shut the fuck up!"

Tori sat in the front seat, her eyes wide as her mother sped down the street. "You always wanna fucking talk but I hear you talking about yo self!"

"My name is Cedrica A. McCoy. My favorite color orange cause I like oranges. I like wearing shoes, they keep my feet warm at night because… YO OLD FUCKING ASS WON'T BUY ME SOCKETS!"

Torielle checked to make sure her seat belt buckle was fasten. Davea pulled the car into grass and unfasten her seat belt.

Torielle pulled the strapped to her chest and looked out the window as her mother rounded the car.

Cederica reached over and pushed down the lock button. Davea hit the button on the car keys. Cedrica hit the button again. Davea hit the glass window, "QUIT PLAYIN' WITH ME!"

Cedrica stuck out her tongue. Davea rounded the car again to get back in the driver seat. Cedrica reached between the door and the seat and stretched to hit the lock button. Davea stared into the car window.

"You look like a crackhead!" she taunted

Davea narrowed her eyes. She stood by the window in the backseat. She took off her black church heels and watched Cedrica flip her off in the window. "Cece, quit fuckin' with mama!"

Cedrica bobbled her head. "Fuck you and the clique you cam with!" Davea smacked the window with the end of the heel. Torielle sat with her face in her hands, "Lord have mercy."

"You better stop you now you don't have insurance!" Cedrica threw her head back in a fit of laughter. As she looked at her mama in the glass her pink eyes glowed. "Fuck you and the clique you came with--"

"Is you tryin' to rap?"

"--I'm a real nigga. Don't claim what you don't fuck with--"

The glass shattered, her grandmother pulled her arm through the window. She screamed for her sister who looked behind astonished.

Davea's voice was deep, gurgled. "I'm sick of your fucking ass!" She dragged her small frame through the window. "CALM!" the word printed on Cederica's back.

A wave of serenity swept her. But she felt all the pain. "STEEL!" the word wrapped around her arms and belt hits in the child's face with her ring finger.

"Mama!" screamed Torielle.

"If yo fucking mama wasn't they way she was you wouldn't be here!" she yanked her out the car and slammed her on the curb of the street. She kicked her in the stomach, Cedrica hollered.

Tori sloppily escaped the car, getting tangled by the seatbelt before darting out the car as fast as could. "We not in the Ghytto!" she kicked her again. "But sense you wanna be fast as hell!" she stomped her hitting her in her right cheek.

Cedrica balled, her forearms shielding her face, "STOP!" Torielle hurried and slid to cover her sister, "Mama what is you doing!" shouted Tori.

"BREAK!" Torielle tried to block the word, she screamed as her arm went limp. "Stupid fucking kids!"

Tori couldn't stand her sister at times. She put her back on her as Davea stomped her stomach. "MOVE!"

Tori lifted off Cederica. "what…"

"BLOCK!" As Davea was abou to bring her footdown, she hit the word itself. "BOUNCE!" Davea gyrated into the side of the vehicle. Cederica got to her feet.

There was a light around her frame. Tori was put on the ground. "Cece?"

She rose her palm, "You could have said something." she cocked her head to the side. The car lifted, it honked and hovered over Davea.

She rushed to get from out under the impact. The car lights flashed. "STILL!"

She immediately paused in her step. One foot was coming off the ground and other already on the street. "BRICK!"

The concrete broke under her before collecting around her feet. She began to sweat, "Bye… granny."

She couldn't move but she could breathe. She saw the shadow, heard the word from the child. And then she saw nothing.
