Chapter 6 - Wedding Day To Be A Bad Day?

Wedding Hall

I was currently leaning against the back door with the vines hanging down. With the roll of paper tucked to my lips, I lifted my wrinkled face to look up at the bright blue sky above. I could see the bright clouds above as if making fun of the fateful incident that happened to me today.

Today was supposed to be my wedding day to a woman named Kania who I thought had accepted me. Because a week after the day of our introduction, she and I had walked several times and everything went well, so with enthusiasm, Mother decided on our wedding day.

Previously

In front of me was now a mirror at the height of an adult, reflecting me in my formal suit for the wedding ceremony which we would be having in a few hours.

Yes, We... Kania and I to be precise, the woman who was introduced to me by my mother. The woman who I hoped, would be the last woman in my life.

My lips curved into a smile, thinking that we would get married after only a week of acquaintances.

"Please God, smooth everything out today." I muttered quietly, hoping that God would answer my simple, but very meaningful prayer for today.

Actually, I hadn't felt love and thrill when I was with Kania. But, I just wanted the best for Mother and Father. I would learn to accept her, when we lived together later. They said that love would grow over time, as you got used to it and I hoped that applied to me too.

After I felt that my current appearance was perfect, I walked towards the window. I looked outside and suddenly my eyes caught something or to be precisely, someone. I narrowed my eyes and frowned.

"Wait! Isn't that Kania?" I mumbled and I didn't know why but instantly, I felt bad.

I saw Kania was with someone. I watched them closely, and the two of them seemed to be having an argument, but ended up with Kania who...

"Ah! Damn," I thought in disbelief.

Turning away was what I did next, when in front of my own eyes there was a scene where Kania and I should have done it. However, I looked back at them and it was for the last time, because the two of them left the backyard and disappeared behind the towering wall.

Yes, Kania and her current wedding dress, went with another man and it was witnessed by myself, the groom.

I could only stay silent with a sad smile on my face, waiting for someone to tell me that my bride to be, had disappeared or maybe other reports, I didn't know.

"Huft ... Wedding day turns to be a bad day," I muttered sadly.

Not long after that there was a knock on the door followed by my Mother standing there.

"Glenn.... Kania.... She left the wedding," Mom said with a sad face looking at me.

I just nodded, then accepted the embrace of my crying mother in my arms. I hugged my mom back, trying to calm her frantic thoughts.

"It's okay, Mom. I'll be fine," I muttered sadly.

I felt sad not because Kania left me. But thinking, how my Mother had to endure the embarrassment of the invited guests who had come, that was what I was thinking right now.

Present time

So here I was, trying to enjoy my me-time in a simple shop after finishing a roll of cigiratte. Only when I was feeling screwed up, then I would suck up a roll and today just happened to be the messiest day in my 27 years of life on earth.

On the table where I was sitting, was a cup of chocolate milk. Actually, this was a drink I had never consumed before. I didn't know why, I just ordered it randomly and then in a few minutes the milk was served but I hadn't touched it at all. I just let it on the table until it was cool down although I ordered it hot.

Drt~Drt~Drt

The cell phone in my trouser pocket hadn't stopped vibrating since I left the wedding hall. I should have legally become Kania's husband in 45 minutes. But....

"Ah! Thinking about it makes me even more annoyed. How dare they run away in front of my eyes," I thought, extremely annoyed.

When I was busy cursing the fate that befell me. Suddenly someone nudged my arm, then sat down and apologized to me who could only frown in confusion.

"What is wrong with this girl?" I thought as she exhaled and inhaled greedily, like someone after being chased by a dog.

I shrugged nonchalantly and tried not to care about her current behavior that looked like someone was scared. I  assumed so because I saw the movement of her head that turned left and right, then sighed again.

"How strange," I thought and shook my head in surprise.

"Hey Uncle!"

Shiiiiiing!

My ears immediately straightened when I heard the call 'Uncle', from a strange woman beside me who was currently tugging at the sleeve of the jacket I was wearing. With a sharp glance and a slight thump, I slapped her hand and patted the coat she was holding.

"Tsk..., so arrogant. My hands are clean Uncle. I've used hand sanitizer," she continued in an innocent tone, but for me it was really annoying because again I heard the word 'Uncle' from her mouth.

"Who are you calling Uncle, Kid?" I replied sarcastically and stared intently at the strange woman who instead glared fiercely at me.

"Hey! Who are you calling a kid? I'm an adult, just so you know," replied the woman who claimed to be an adult beside me at this time.

"Argh! But you don't have to use gravy either if you reply to someone else's words," I said and she smiled casually this time.

Then again looked left and right, while apologizing to me.

"Sorry, Uncle. I did it on purpose," she replied even more impudently.

"Gosh! This is the first time, I've met a strange person like the woman next to me," I thought speechless.

I shook my head and tried not to respond anymore. I didn't care what she wanted to do, as long as she didn't bother me. I didn't want to get involved with this kid who claimed to be an adult.

"Adult? Well, actually that might be true since I can see her growth very clearly," I continued to myself as I glanced at her ...

"What are you looking at?"

Instantly I looked away, when I was caught by her looking at her fruit hanging there.

I cleared my throat to get rid of the awkwardness, because I was caught watching something I had never done so impudently. I swear on the magic snail. I had never done this before and somehow this woman next to me managed to intrigue me, by admitting that she was grown up but her behavior didn't reflect that at all.

"Ehem… Nothing, who's looking?" I replied and pretended not to care with my shoulders lifting.

But she seemed not to believe me because she was still looking at me suspiciously with pursed lips.

"Don't tell me, you saw my-

"Nonsense! Who's staring at your..., 'that'?"

"See! You've just admit it, right?"

Her shrill voice made some of the shop visitors look at us with curious eyes, made me immediately cover her lips with my palm and she brutally beat my hand.

"Hmpf...."

"Shhh.... You claim not to be a kid. But why are you so noisy?" I hissed on her face, with her glaring again and her punches getting even more brutal.

"Hmpf."

Smack! Smack!

"Fine, I'll let go, but don't make a noise," I continued and she nodded, stopping her punches and taking in a lot of air as soon as I let go of my grip.

"Fuahh! Uncle..., you are so mean," she said angrily.

However, I shrugged nonchalantly then ignored her as she grumbled again.

"Tsk, handsome, but unfortunately evil," she grumbled and for some reason the corners of my lips lifted.

I smiled amused at what she said.

"Strange, why does it feel so funny?" I thought not understandingly.

Suddenly, I felt a tug on the sleeve of my jacket again. The culprit was of course the adult woman but still acted like a kid who sat next to me and was now showing a cute face, with a seductive smile that looked adorable in my eyes. I didn't even realize that I was biting my inner cheek to keep my hand from pinching her cheeks.

"Uncle," she called.

"Hmm." I just mumbled and looked away not wanting to be fascinated by the girl next to me right now.

"Uncle, are you drinking the milk? If not, can I have it? It's a waste if you don't drink it," she continued asking in a sweet tone, making me immediately see the milk and her cute twinkling eyes as if to seduce me.

"You want that milk?" I asked for confirmation and she nodded eagerly.

"I am thirsty, Uncle," she whined.

"Gosh! She is really a kid," I thought to myself.

Then she rubbed her long neck, showing that she was really thirsty.

Gleuk!

I was drooling at the sight of the long neck that she was rubbing. I didn't even realize that I was swallowing my saliva with difficulty.

"Hmm, fine.... Have a drink," I replied briefly and turned my face the other way, when she gave me a happy smile because I gave her what she wanted.

"Hi-hi... You know, Uncle. Now you look more handsome than before." she complimented with a smile and I couldn't help but snort.

"Hmm and don't call me Uncle again, since when did I marry your Aunt. Remember that," I warned her back and she just nodded with a thumbs up pointing at me.

"Ay Ay, Handsome!"

Cough!

"Damn, I choked because of her new nickname for me," I thought awkwardly, while she just giggled carelessly in front of me.

"Hi-hi!"

Well, maybe today was not that bad after all.

To be continued.
