Time passed, and soon Vast was 3 years old. Vast was ahead of even the geniuses of the cosmos in terms of knowledge. The old man taught him basic reading and writing, then bombarded him with books filled with advanced knowledge about their universal language. Unbeknownst to Vast, these books were so expensive that only the rich could afford this.
"Read and understand these," the old man said as he exited the cabin. Then the old man went out for a walk into the forest after giving the books to Vast, he wondered how long it would take for Vast to comprehend the books given by him.
The old man himself took 2 days for him to comprehend the universal language by using his own comprehension skills that would later help him gain the title of... "I abandoned that life years ago, I'm just here living the final days of my life," he said in a melancholic tone, as though the old man yearned for the time he was there up in the night sky.
Soon, after 16 hours the old man came back calmly as if he never went out on a walk. When the old man entered the cabin, he was surprised. Vast was reading the last book while the others were already on the shelf on the side of the cabin.
The old man asked, "Vast, did you finish all the books?" "Yes, I did," Vast said. " "Huh," the old man said as he went to the bed as he was tired from the walk that he just had. Vast on the other hand kept on reading until he fell asleep.
This cycle continued until Vast was 9, then the old man taught Vast how to hunt, this in turn would mark the last day Vast would ever be fed food by someone else. He would have to hunt for his food in the days coming forward.
Every time he went out to hunt, he would comeback with bruises and cuts. This tempered his determination and willpower, because sometimes he didn't even bring any food home since the animals here were too strong as though they had a magical energy surrounding him.
"Old man, what's that energy that the animals have surrounding them?" Vast said. "I'll explain to you tomorrow, now go away," the old man said, as though if Vast was wasting his time.
Vast, sighing exited the cabin to look up at the night sky. "What a beautiful sight," he muttered as thousands of stars glistened up there. He was trapped here, everyday and that made him tired of seeing the same thing over and over again.
While other children couldn't even understand their surroundings at his age, he noticed each minor detail that really wanted him to see new things. This sparked his hope for adventure since he wanted to see new things and explore new places.
Slowly, Vast fell asleep looking up above. The eyes yearning for adventure through the starry sky hoping one day he could explore it.

On one of the rocks, there was a person. He was like a stone untouched by time, as though he hadn't moved for hundreds of years. "That old fogey got a disciple huh," he smirked, then he went still. He would not move for years to come until that fateful day in the future.
