Chereads / NECROSIS / Chapter 2 - CHAPTER 2: MASTERPIECE

Chapter 2 - CHAPTER 2: MASTERPIECE

When the wind conquered the sky

Up until where?

When the fishes conquer the sea

How deep?

When trees conquer the land

Will it be?

It was a dark and stormy night. The battle between the hero's company and the dragon prevails; none of them shows signs of giving up. The hero charges towards the dragon while the others support his movements.

As the final moment arrived the hero finally slew the dragon. Walking towards the tower where the beautiful princess was being held.

They opened the door and saw her. She was sleeping beautifully in her yellow gown, holding a sunflower in her hand. Her stunning looks can make a thousand men fall.

The hero walked towards the sleeping princess and held her in his arms. The moment was beautiful, except for the sleeping princess's sleeping eyes.

The hero moved her face to match his and kissed her on the lips. The ambiguous air lingers throughout the room. And finally after a moment of silence... The princess woke up and they lived happily ever after.

"Ivor, This… is"

With his frustration, he places the manuscript on the table and he puts his right hand on his temples, and gently as his fingers massage his head and he lets out heavy signs. Seems like he just gave up.

"You know, we both know there are more to this one right? I know that something was bothering you but it's already been 2 years Ivor! 2 years! Please, we already gave you much time to think but still…"

He picks up his half-empty mug of coffee and drinks it until it reaches the end. He faced me and placed both of his hands on his thigh and looked at me with a serious face.

"3 months… That's all I can do for you. After 3 months the contract will be broken."

I nodded my head without thinking and said goodbye. As I walked to the crowd of people my mind wandered around. Walking unconsciously my foot wandered off on its own and brought me here… in the park… In all of the places in the park.

I sat on the nearby bench and sighed. Placing my arm on my thigh and looking at the magnificent view around me. Many couples and families bonding and playing. I envy them. If she was here we could have kids by now.. (sarcastic laugh). Looking down at my shoes and questioning myself.

``Why did you bring me here in all places?"

I held my tears as I felt a pain in my heart. As the memories rush back to me, like a fast train, hitting me hard in the heart. This kind of pain hurts… it hurts remembering you… why did you leave this early...

I feel a sudden touch on my head, a small, lightweight hand. When I looked up as a child patting my head.

"It's okay mister your mommy will find you soon so don't cry."

Shock at the child's words. I nodded and wiped the tears off my eyes. He sat beside me. He was...I think 7 years old?

He was wearing a dirty white baseball cap, a red three-fourth of shorts with some dirt on it, and a strapped white and black shirt. Where are his parents and why was he doing this? So I asked.

"What are you doing here all alone? Where are your parents?"

"HARRY!!"

He was about to answer when we both heard a frustrated shooting woman coming over. We both looked at the person to know who it was and... I think it was his mother.

"Mother…"

The child almost cried

"How many times do I have to tell you don't leave my watch when we go to the park? Don't run so fast next time okay?!"

"Yes, mother…"

After scolding her son she noticed me.

"I'm sorry for my son's rudeness." and while holding her son's head, the two make a bow.

"No… it's okay no problem" I smile a little and wave my right hand and they both bid goodbye

While they're walking away the child looks in my direction and waves his hand. I wave back and lean back at the bench. Suddenly a phone starts ringing. It was my phone, I checked who was calling me and it was Fred.

He was my friend, we met a few years ago and up until now we're friends, I guess. I answered the phone.

"Men where are you? Uncle told me that you forgot your manuscript in the office. He can't contact you so he contacted me. I'm right here in your house, I'll wait for you okay?"

"...okay I'm heading there."

"Okay."

I sigh deeply and walk to the house. As I saw the front gate of my house I noticed Fred leaning on the gate. I walked towards him and he gave me the manuscript. He taps my shoulder and said,

"Bro… you don't need to waste your time grieving. I know she will be sad seeing you like this being miserable because of her… You know that right?"

I removed his hand from my shoulder, walked away, and closed the gates. I started walking towards my office sitting on my chair looking at her picture pinned on the wall.

Silvia...

I miss her brown wavy hair, her chocolate eyes, her soft and fluffy chicks, and her sweet lips. I remember when we used to laugh and cuddle sometimes. Emptiness… I felt it again. It's very much my companion ever since.

I opened the drawer where my medications are and drank the tablets without constraints. After a few minutes, I feel dizzy and heavy. My mind was spinning.

I tried to walk towards my room and fell on the floor near the door. I felt that my mind was losing it and the only thing I knew was I'm about to go with Silvia.

My head hurts so bad. I open my eyes and a light flashes on me. I tried to adjust my sight and saw a figure in front of me. Is it Silvia? Joy instantly vanished when I saw that it was not her. He was wearing a ragged black cloak covering most of his face.

"I come forth to you. Your time has come to an end. I'm -----I will allow you to grant one wish before you perish however your wish should not validate the law of the living and the death."

His words are clear and calm but no emotions. Other than that he says nothing. He repeated it once more and I can hear him but my brain can't process the information that was given to me. Your time has come to an end? One wish?

"I want Silvia to live," I said in a sad voice

"Your wish should not validate the law of the living and the death." He said once again

"How can you make her alive?.. Can I be with her wherever she was?"

I was desperate to be with her. I don't care about my life anymore. She was my life, my happiness, my soul, and my everything. I'm nothing without her.

"No."

That one word shatters my consciousness to the brink of going insane.

"Then what can you do!?" Shouting at him like a desperate man that I'm. I sat on the floor crying like a baby that was left by his mother.

"I will allow you to grant one wish before you perish; however your wish should not validate the law of the living and the death." He said it again.

"If you can't make her alive then there is nothing that I wanted in this world."

People think I'm crazy for spending my time murmuring about her loss but I'm not... I'm nobody without her. Being an orphan at a young age taught me many hardships in life but when I met her, she's just like me….I found my other half but since fate is very cruel to us they took her away from me, leaving me again with emptiness.

"Are you calm now?" he said.

And he gave me a tissue. I wiped away my nose and nodded my head like a child.

"Good, now make your wish."

"I wish…"

Fred visited Ivor once again but no one answered, he kept calling him but still no one answered so he started to doubt that he might do that again...taking his life. Fred was the one friend of Ivor through thick and thin, they came from the same orphanage but later Fred was adopted overseas, thinking that Ivor was adopted soon after. They meet once again when they are in college and Ivor already met Silvia.

"Ivor! Where are you?"

He shouted very loud that the neighbors could hear him. He asks the neighbors if they see him leave the house and they say no. Fred only could do is to call the police

The police opened the door and looked for Ivor all over the house and they saw him...Lying on the bed with a little teardrop mark on his eyes. Only Fred knows that Ivor is now with his lover, Silvia.

The police took Ivor's body for autopsy and they took pictures around the house for investigation purposes. Fred saw a manuscript on the table where Ivor usually writes. The manuscript wasn't like the one he gave to him yesterday. He was about to touch it but the police said that after the investigation was done he could have it.

As the funeral is set, only Fred, his family, and his uncle who was the editor are there. The editor was a bit guilty of what happened, he knew that he was pressuring Ivor too much.

Fred gave him the manuscript that came from the police and said to him that there should be no changes in this, not even a single word or period. The editor agreed to the request and so the publishing was started.

The book is now on a hot topic even though it was 50 years ago. The earnings of the book are given to the orphanage of the two lovers, Ivor and Silvia. The magical book and the love story of the author prove that love prevails. The End
