Chapter 19 - Chapter 19: A Reason To Celebrate

Don't forget to drop some power stones!

"IDs confirmed. Please enjoy your stay tonight at Viridian Heights - Upper Floors.", A robotic voice echoed around a long hallway. Two figures stood standing near the door, each with a small card in hand. It wasn't their own IDs, just temporary ones given to residents here. This place is one of the best sites in all of Viridian City. Not just anyone can come here.

So this hotel has an extra layer of security. Ricky didn't need to worry about Team Rocket during his stay here, so it was a nice touch. The two walked right in, and the two smaller figures beside them sprinted inside. They didn't hesitate to jump on one of the two beds. The one further in the back.

"You two don't goof off for too long, alright? It's already getting late into the night as it is.", Lillie said, reminining the two distant figures of the present time. It was much further into the night now.

"Vulpix!", Snoy exclaimed, trying to find a good spot on the comfy-looking bed. It was mostly white, and had very large and padded sheets. The beds had an inviting feel to it, and if one were to get on it, they would likely fall asleep quickly.

"Ninetales.", Amber said. She too was already on the bed, watching Snowy try to find a good spot to rest. Amber wasn't as picky as Snowy was. The moment she got onto the bed, she was already feeling tired.

"Haha, guess the flight really took a lot out of you two. Well no need to worry, we won't be flying again soon. Enjoy all the rest you two want. Mom is expecting our return tomorrow, but we don't have to leave super early. We can sleep in if we want to.", Ricky said.

"That's good, at least. I feel the moment I plop onto this bed, I won't want to move. I really ate too much back there...", Lillie said. She even let out a burp, immediately covering her mouth with her hand. "Oops, pardon me.", Lillie continued, feeling slightly embarrassed.

"None taken. But can you really blame yourself for such a delicious meal? I ate quite a bit myself, and so did our Pokemon. I'm curious to see if any of them got a new move out of that. Pokemon dishes sure are something eh?", Ricky mused, recalling how those particular dishes were presented at the all-you-can-eat buffet they went to earlier. Both Amber and Snowy were infatuated with a dessert that was in the shape of a flower lily, but it was crystal-blue in color. It had a rigid appearance on the outside, but it was soft and delicious within.

"Uh-huh. I didn't think they could make cakes to look like that. We'll have to see if we can visit more places like that in the cities we go to.", Lillie said, before she decided to plop onto the nearest bed before the two. She went arms first, and she was already starting to sink into the bed, feeling very comfortable.

"Oh...This bed really does feel nice...", Lillie began to utter, trailing off to enjoy the nice and cozy feeling. Ricky looked at her and saw that her skirt was pointing at him.

"Feels nice, don't it?", Ricky said, his lips blooming into a smile. He took a silent moment to plop his own butt onto the corner of the bed, causing Lillie to roll a tiny bit toward his direction. He let out a sigh. This day was jam-packed with travelling, and he only felt like it was now that he could truly unravel some time. He knew he had to pick up Serena, but that was still a while to go.

"Uh-huh. We did so much today, I don't know if I can move another muscle.", Lillie responded, keeping her position still.

"In more ways than one, right?", Ricky teased her. Her cheeks blushed, realizing what Ricky was referring to.

"Oh you. I don't even have the energy to retort that. I will say it did feel really good though.", Lillie responded.

"That for one we can agree on. But if you're wondering about tonight, I won't try to do anything like that. Unless you want to, of course.", Ricky said.

"Hehehe.", Lillie giggled hearing that. "I appreciate the thought, but I really am exhausted. We don't have to do much else, right?", Lillie asked, wanting to make sure.

"Nope. We're free for the rest of the night to laze around. Don't feel like you have to meet Serena at the airport either, okay? If you truly don't have much energy left to spare for the evening from the earlier travels, then you should listen to your body. Going from one region to another can be taxing on one's stamina. I'm more used to moving around like this than you are.", Ricky said, ending his teasing.

Lillie took this moment to shift her position. She was no longer laying down, but was now seated upright on the bed. Her skirt was starting to sink into it now.

"It really has been a while since I have travelled like that. Serena won't mind if I'm not with you, right?", Lillie asked. She still had doubt in her eyes.

"I'm sure she won't. It'll just be a quick pick-up. Serena will probably be more tired than you, and you look like you're beat. You can rest up here while I go pick her up. I still have enough energy for a couple more hours.", Ricky answered.

"Do you, now?", Lillie asked, smiling. "But what was that about not being full earlier? Surely you aren't going to eat more after all of that.", Lillie doubted again.

"Haha, I do not. There's a little something I want to show you that this hotel likes to do.", Ricky suddenly said.

"Oh?", Lillie asked with growing interest. She saw Ricky get off the corner of the bed, and proceeded into the kitchen. There was both the standard refrigerator, but also a mini fridge. He reached toward the mini fridge. Ricky was out of sight apart from his head, so Lillie tried to lean forward into the bed to see what he was trying to do.

"There we go.", Ricky said, and closed the mini fridge's door.

"You clearly got something. What is it?", Lillie asked.

"Up for a little drink?", Ricky mused, and brought out a fancy wine onto the kitchen counter. Lillie's eyes turned wide seeing the full glass.

"Seriously?", Lillie exclaimed in shock.

"Vul?", Snowy questioned, not expecting to see Lillie act like that. Ricky smiled at Snowy to ensure Lillie was fine. That was enough to cause Snowy to curl back up into a fluffy ball of fur. Lillie just stared at the wine glass bottle in surprise.

"Why not? I feel like celebrating a bit. After all, we did successfully make it to Kanto, and we're about to start the next stretch of our lives together. Through a journey no less. It is appropriate, don't you think?", Ricky asked Lillie.

"Well when you put it that way, even I can't help but get into the celebratory mood. Maybe it just hasn't hit me yet. We really are in Kanto, huh?", Lillie asked.

"Hahaha! We sure are. You aren't in Alola anymore. We're in the place where it all began.", Ricky mused. "There's a veranda out back too. If you have the energy to stand up, why don't we go enjoy the evening breeze and celebrate with a glass of wine?", Ricky asked.

"Enjoying the cool breeze does sound nice...But are you sure we can drink this wine? Won't they question it?", Lillie doubted again.

"Oh that was already taken care of. They already verified our IDs. They only put wines like this in the rooms if someone is of age.", Ricky explained.

"This hotel sure is something...", Lillie uttered.

"Right? So let's go take a load off. It's a little after 9PM now. I don't have to go pick up Serena for a couple more hours. We can take it easy, and enjoy a glass of wine and enjoy a nice view while we're outside.", Ricky suggested.

"That sounds pleasant. I still need some time to let it all sink in. You do too, don't you?", Lillie asked.

"Yeah. I'll go pour us two glasses. You go on ahead.", Ricky responded with a smile.

"Okay!", Lillie happily said. She had enough energy again to get off the bed. Sure enough, when she reached the other end, she opened the sliding glass window and found an open veranda with an excellent view. Ricky took this time to pour two glasses of wine, and entered a festive mood. There was a good reason to celebrate what happened to them after all.

They had left the Alola Region at the beginning of the day, and were about to start a new adventure here in the Kanto Region. That alone was enough cause to celebrate.

Ricky also wanted to use these couple of hours to wind down, and process his current thoughts.

With two glasses in hand, he followed Lillie, only to find herself leaning against one of the long chairs, enjoying the nice view from outside.

"You sure took to the chair quickly.", Ricky smiled, seeing Lillie gazing out. They were atop a big hill. There were many beautiful and grandiose luminescent buildings scattered all around. No matter where Lillie looked, it was a nice sight to see.

"It's like an endless sea of buildings. This place is very different from Alola. I'm sure it's easy to get lost if you don't know where you're going.", Lillie responded, stretching her hand out to receive her wine glass.

"You can definitely get lost in Viridian City easily. That's why it's good to plan ahead of time. When we come back here later in the week, we can visit the marketplace, before deciding where to go next. We won't be bound by time then. If you want to pay Ash's school a visit, you can. Or if we are to go directly to Viridian Forest to reach the next city, that's also an option.", Ricky explained.

"Uh-huh. The path will be ours to take, soon enough. And Ash's school, huh? That place is called Indigo Academy, right? It's off to the left route of Viridian City.", Lillie answered.

"You got that right. I did plenty of online lectures there. I might do one again soon, and I'm thinking of making the topic covering Gym Badges. We will need to win our first one though, heh.", Ricky responded with a laugh.

"Maybe we should make some time to visit the school then. They'll be done soon for the year, right?", Lillie questioned.

"I think they finish in June, actually. That's right around Ash's birthday. It's in-between quarters right now, so they're back in Pallet Town for vacation. They'll be expecting us, but not tonight.", Ricky continued to explain.

"Which means, we'll be starting our journey a few months ahead of them, then.", Lillie concluded.

"Yep. So if you don't want to head to Indigo Academy right away, we can do it on our back-travelling. We do actually make an entire loop around Kanto, considering Viridian City is the 8th Gym.", Ricky said.

"Right, you did mention that earlier.", Lillie nodded to his words. "We may not need to go to the Academy right away, as you said. Are you suggesting our first trip into Viridian City will be short?", Lillie wondered.

"It might be, so we'll wait and see. Speaking of which, you're enjoying the nice breeze, right?", Ricky decided to ask. Lillie smiled hearing that.

"It really does feel nice out here. It isn't too cold either. If there is one similar feeling to Alola, it's the atmosphere. I do see some snow in the distant mountains around Mt. Silver, though.", Lillie mused.

"I'm getting a good feel off of it too. Just don't catch a cold by sleeping out here, okay?", Ricky asked with a hint of worry.

"Oh you don't need to worry about me, Ricky. I'll make it back to bed after this. But we have a wine glass needing our attention, right? You want to do it?", Lillie asked Ricky.

"Sure. I do feel a bit guilty not including Serena in this, but we can do a second round of cheers later. But for now, here's to starting our next adventure!", Ricky exclaimed.

"Cheers!", Lillie happily replied. Just like that, the two raised their glasses, and clinked them together, only to enjoy some nice wine the hotel had given them for their stay...
