After waking up for the day and getting dressed, Ricky saw that he had some time to chill. He wasn't sure when Serena and Lillie would wake up. He saw it was already 10AM, so most of the morning had already passed. The window to have breakfast was also gone, so Ricky was planning to order some room service. Today was going to be a very lazy day because of what happened, and he figured his two girls likely won't want to move around much. Any exploring of the hotel will have to be saved for another time.
Which was fine by Ricky, it's not like this won't be the last time they will come to Viridian Heights. When they make their loop around the entire Kanto Region, he might decide to rent a room for this place again. It has very excellent service and quality food. Even ordering room service was like ordering food to go from a star restaurant. He could order as much as the trio wanted. He could even bring those famous Pokemon Dishes here. Lillie did give some to Snowy, but it looks like Snowy didn't gain anything from those dishes. It was the luck of the draw on whether a Pokemon would learn a move from it, or not. Perhaps this time, Snowy will?
Thinking that, Ricky saw that Serena and Lillie were still snoozing away, tucked inside the bed to the right. Amber and Snowy were awake now, so he greeted the two Pokemon.
"Good morning, Amber, Snowy. Did you two enjoy your sleep?", Ricky asked the two Pokemon.
"Nine.", Amber responded, saying she rested well.
"Vulpix!", Snowy happily exclaimed.
"Heh, glad to hear that you two are doing well. We're going to have a lazy day today, so if you want to rest some more, you can. Once it's around the afternoon, if Serena and Lillie are bored, would you two be interested in doing a practice battle? Lillie hasn't battled before, so I figured you might want to see how that goes, Snowy. She might start using you for Pokemon Battles.", Ricky suggested.
"Vul?", Snowy questioned. To Snowy, she hadn't battled before this. Lillie had just recently found Snowy last year, and they've just been working on becoming partners with one another. Snowy wasn't used to battling yet.
Ricky didn't care about the outcome if this battle is going to happen, but it'll give a good first taste to gauge Lillie's capabilities for battling. They'll be doing a lot of that in their adventuring, and against powerful Pokemon Trainers. Those Gym Leaders aren't anything to scoff at. They were strong in many ways.
Snowy glanced at Amber after Ricky asked this. Snowy's tail started to wag in anticipation.
"Vulpix!", Snowy responded, agreeing with Ricky. Ricky smiled.
"Then that's settled. We'll do a mock battle later. This hotel does have its own area for battling and enjoying recreational activities. We can head there in the afternoon.", Ricky said to the two.
Plus, Ricky was curious to see if there were any other trainers here. Technically, he was a trainer now, along with Serena and Lillie. They have received their Pokedexs, and Pokemon of their own already. There isn't anything preventing them from heading directly out of Viridian City to officially start their journey, if they really wanted to do such a thing.
But Ricky already had plans to return to Pallet Town. He wanted to introduce Serena and Lillie to his family, and reunite with his friends he had there. Ricky has come back on occasion for short visits, but he was gone the majority of the time while he was abroad. He was gone for a full five years! A reunion is due at this point.
Back to his suggestion of a mock battle, it was possible he might encounter other trainers inside this hotel. The building itself was very massive. He was curious to see what all kinds of Pokemon there were. It wasn't like this Pokemon World only consisted of one region. No, there were nine generations of Pokemon that have been discovered already. That was over a thousand Pokemon! There were nine regions ripe for exploring to his heart's content.
But that meant here in Kanto, Ricky likely won't see Pokemon limited to the first generation. Many different Pokemon have likely migrated from other regions. So Ricky was very curious to see what all he could find here in Kanto. Will his roster mostly consist of Kanto Pokemon, or will it not?
Essentially, the National Pokedex was at play. There were no restrictions whatsoever.
Ricky was also pleased with how Pokemon Gyms have been developed lately. He heard how they have been progressing from Professor Kukui while he stayed in Alola. Gym Leaders don't have static Pokemon anymore. Let's take the first Gym here in Kanto located in Pewter City. Its Gym Leader is Brock. In the very first season of the anime, Brock is only shown using Geodude and Onix.
From what Ricky was informed of, that is no longer the case, considering nine generations of Pokemon were now at play here. On top of seeing Geodude or Onix, Brock very well could use Pokemon like Graveler, Golem, or even Steelix. Or maybe Rock-type Pokemon from other regions! Gym Leaders have excellent capabilities to judge a trainer's strength. That is why they are Gym Leaders. They do well against any trainers, no matter who gets sent their way.
Granted, lots of Trainers don't have powerful Pokemon off the bat like Ricky does, but there are some who do. It depends on what situations happen to them. For Ricky, he has Amber at his side. She hatched into an Alolan Vulpix several years ago, and he recently evolved her into an Alolan Ninetales this last year. She is already strong, so it wouldn't be much of a battle if Ricky sent Amber against Brock's Geodude.
So that was why Ricky was much more interested to see how these Gym Battles will go. If he decided to use Amber to see how she fares, Brock will likely respond with a powerful Pokemon of his own. It was like how Brock rematched Ash during the Sun & Moon anime when Ash paid a visit to Kanto. During that battle, Brock used a Mega Steelix against Ash's Pikachu!
Ricky was much more excited to see where these adventures will lead.
Ricky could spend all day theory-crafting the possibilities and Pokemon that Gym Leaders could potentially use, but that would take all day. Sure, today was going to be a lazy day for them to recover from all the travelling they did yesterday and the fun they had last night, but he didn't want to waste the day, solely going over that.
After Ricky greeted Amber and suggested a mock battle to do later, he saw the time was 10:30AM now. Ricky had spent some time to consolidate his thoughts and doubts, but he was glad to be in this current position. He was given a second chance at life. He became acquainted with many characters of the Pokemon World, and even joined Professor Oak's family, just like how God mentioned. And on top of that, he successfully formed a harem, dating two Pokemon girls at once, Serena and Lillie. Ricky wasn't sure if it wasn't going to end at just that, either!
Ricky wanted to get in contact with Cynthia, so that is what he is going to do today. A plan was already starting to form in his head of how the day is going to go. He was going to brighten the room with the curtains, air the room out, then draw a bath. He figured Serena and Lillie would want to go clean up right away after they woke up, considering they passed out in his embrace shortly after they ended their fun. There wasn't much cleaning up after that before they all entered dreamland.
From there, he will order room service for lunch, then get in touch with Cynthia. After that, if the two were up for it, he will suggest they take a stroll toward the outside area, where Lillie will do a mock battle against Amber.
"Now that I think about it, this would be my first battle too...", Ricky uttered to himself. He recalled that he also hadn't had any battles before this! His mother, who went by the name Violet, was a very popular Pokemon trainer, so he often watched the battles she did with her partner Pokemon, which was surprisingly an Articuno! Ricky knew there were some trainers who had successfully captured legendary Pokemon. Even Goh captures a Suicune later on, even though it does most things by itself most of the time, like how Mew currently behaves. Goh's Suicune does transfer over to Professor Cerise's Lab once the capture happens.
So having trainers with legendary Pokemon weren't out of the question in this Pokemon World. There were plenty of trainers who owned one!
"Having a Pokemon battle, huh? Against who?", A voice called out to Ricky. Ricky's gaze quickly shifted back to the bed. Still wrapped tightly in the covers, Serena could now be seen awake. She was still entirely naked beneath the covers, so she used them to remain warm.
"Heh, a very good morning to you, Serena. I was considering doing a mock battle against Lillie. I know you haven't battled before either, Lillie used to be very wary against every single Pokemon she came across. Because you know, what happened. She did take a big step to head out on this adventure with the two of us, but she'll be battling lots of trainers in the coming future. So I figured since we're lazing around today, I can do a battle against Lillie in the afternoon.", Ricky explained to Serena. He saw that Lillie was still curled up against Serena, still sleeping.
"Now that isn't a bad idea. Lillie used to be very afraid of Pokemon, right? This could be another push for her!", Serena happily replied.
"Yeah. That won't be for several hours still. You woke up pretty late. It's already 10:30AM.", Ricky said with a grin. Serena's eyes raised upward. She didn't expect to sleep all the way until 10:30AM!
