Chapter 33 - Chapter 33-What have I done?

Li Na calmed down a little and seeing his reaction remembered the call she received for him when he was indisposed.

"Li Jun?" She paused, turning to look up at him.

"Yes?"

"I need to tell you something."

"What's it?." He sounded grim.

"Daiyu called last night, while you were—unavailable. And I answered the phone."

He slammed the phone that was in his hand on the table and began rubbing his eyes. "Shit. Why will you pick up my phone? What did she say? "

"She called me a slut and told me to roll you over and hand you the phone. I said you were kind of sick."

"Did she say why she was calling?"

"No."

"Did you tell her who you are? Your name?"

"No" Li Na shook her head.

"Thank God," he muttered.

She frowned. She'd expected him to apologize for Daiyu's choice of words. But he didn't. In fact, he seemed entirely unfazed by her behavior, as if he were more concerned about Li Na upsetting her than the other way round.

Li Na was pained and she became sober as she turned to put on her sweater and shoes.

Picking up the phone he dropped on the table he turned towards her, Li Jun raised his head as he saw her changing into her sweater, her naked back to him, his eyes transformed to blackish-blue pools as he saw burnt marks on her back. "W- what happened to you?" he asked as he leaned in to touch the marks on her back

"What? Do not touch me" Li Na yelled at him, her tone of voice, angry and commanding.

"Get your hands off me, you arrogant bastard!" Li Na pulled away so forcefully she almost fell backward. "You've no right to touch me."

"But your back…" He stared down at her chest, at her nipples that were poking prettily from underneath her camisole. He tried not to ogle her, but failed.

" My back does not concern you. And I'm also tired because some fool has the guts to get angry at me for bringing him home after he was drunk. Thank God! I didn't throw all my code of ethics and morals out of the window just for you to trample on it. Did you know what it takes and how much time it took for me to give this relationship a try. I'm tired of people shouting at me and embarrassing me, talkless of my student's."

Li Jun reddened. "Stop it. I'm sorry, okay? I didn't remember what happened. I was a little angry because of ….."

"A little angry? Is this some kind of joke?" she snapped. "Do you honestly not remember?"

"I have memory loss whenever I drink, sometimes I can't tell…" He began mumbling incoherently.

Li Na reached the end of her patience. "You threw up on me. That's why I was in your clothes. And for no other reason, believe me."

A look of relief and pained acknowledgement passed across his face. "I'm sorry," he said. "And I apologize for insulting you. I didn't mean what I said earlier, truly I didn't. I was shocked to find you here, the underwear you were putting on was from a close friend and the way you were dressed, I thought that we…" He made a vague hand gesture.

"Nonsense." Li Na glared at him, forcing herself to keep her temper

Li Jun was sorry and tried to salvage the situation. "If anyone connected with the university found out that you stayed here, You could be in a lot of trouble. Should I call my driver to pick you up?"

" I don't need your driver and I'm sure since nothing happened between us you won't tell anyone, Li Jun. I'm not stupid, I know what do in this terrible situation. You should be thanking me!"

He frowned. "I know that there is no excuse at the way I reacted when I woke up this morning. " He placed a hand to his head and grimaced. "I've done terrible things when I wasn't in my right mind. I was afraid I'd treated you badly last night. Coupled with you in the underwear I lashed out, but I'm only angry with myself.

Li Jun move close and touch her, he pressed his lips together. "I'm sorry for my foolishness, Li Na. Thank you for bringing me back home, But if someone sees you leaving here…"

Seeing her flinching away from his touch, he let her go and took a very large step back, his chest heaving and his eyes burning. He closed his eyes hard and began to breathe deeply, very deeply. Even in his hazy, rattled state of mind, he could see that things had gotten out of hand. He had to calm the f*ck down quickly, and then he had to calm her down before she did something rash.

The look in her eyes said it all; he'd shouted at her after bringing his drunk ass home. She was angry and hurt and frightened and sad—a furious, wounded lioness with claws drawn and tears glistening at the corners of her eyes. He had done this. He didn't even apologise for what Daiyu said to her. He had done this to her when he shouted at her and failed to remember whatever happened between them last night.

"I am so sorry about what Dai…" Li Jun began to apologise.

'I got to go,' Li Na said sharply, cutting him off and heading towards the door. She grabbed her bag and practically ran to the door. She'd already yanked it open when Li Jun made it to her, and her body language was screaming to stay away, but he cared about her too much to be scared off. He knew that he had burst a precious opportunity because of his uncontrollable anger.

'Li Na,' he said softly, laying his hand over her forearm.

She stopped and her jaw clenched even harder before she shook his hand off and turned her blank eyes to him. 'What's the matter? Let me tell you, the only mistake I made was me bringing you back to your house' She said, disappointment evident in her eyes.

",Look, Mr. Li Jun, I'm done with whatever we claim we have going on ." She turned on her heel and walked to the elevator as she continued."I deserve respect as your Professor and I would like to maintain that professional relationship that was meant to be from the beginning"

Li Jun sprang forward to stop the elevator door from closing. "Li Na! Wait! I'm sorry, forgive me."

He was too late. The door closed at the sound of her name. He pressed the button furiously, hoping to reopen the doors.

"Why does everything nice in my life seem to turn sour so quickly?" As the elevator began its slow but unstoppable descent, Li Na burst into tears.

Li Jun pressed his forehead and palms against the cold steel of the elevator door.

Ha! What have I done?
