Chapter 38 - Chapter 38-Purple lilacs

Her heartbeat sped up, the sound of it hammering in her ears. She was silent as she felt herself shivering from the tension swirling around them.

"Say you want me, or should I leave?"

Li Jun slowly withdrew when she didn't respond. She felt very lonely as a result of the loss of intimacy, and she didn't even think about the words as they spilled out of her mouth. "I want you, Li…."

Li Na didn't have time to finish his sentence before his lips were on hers. She couldn't think as he gently brushed his lips across hers, the delicate kiss surprised her and made her throb with an unusual need.

Li Jun's left hand moved from Li Na's face to the nape of her neck, passing slowly past her ear. He proceeded to massage his fingertips across the surface of her skin as his mouth enveloped hers, enticing her to relax.

She allowed herself to relax and enjoy his kisses as well as the feelings that were tempting and assaulting her body as she surrendered to his touch after just a few moments.

She caught a taste of coffee, toothpaste mint, and something hot and deeply sensual. His fingers twisted in her hair as he deepened the kiss, wanting more.

His desire to feel that heat was met with something considerably more intense—her responses. She opened her mouth beneath his and desire, explosive and all-consuming, roared through his veins like a match to dry tinder.

He cradled her head in his hands, tilting it back, angling her so he could kiss her harder, taste deeper. Stroking his tongue over hers, exploring further. Her hands came to rest against his chest, palms pressing against him, but there was no force pushing him away, only her mouth as hungry as his. Only that small-boned, elegant body of her millimeters away, the faint, sensual scent of her driving him crazy.

The taste of her was everything he'd been fantasizing about. Everything he'd been dreaming about. He had a distinct memory of trying to prove something, but he couldn't remember what it was.

She made him forget every single thing he wanted to say.

He put his hands on her hips, pushing her against the desk.

For the first time in years, he felt warm and he wanted more, wanting her warmth all over his skin. Wanted to draw her around him like the rays of the sun and bury himself inside. Let pleasure cancel out the numbness that gripped his heart, thaw the ice that surrounded his soul.

There was no university. There was Nobody. Just them.

She felt her hands tugging Li Jun closer, her tentative hands tangling in his hair, pulling him until she was sandwiched tightly between him and the desk, her petite frame pressed up against his tall, muscular one. Li Jun moved his right hand to cup the back of her head, protecting it with his knuckles while he groaned loudly against her mouth.

The groan was loud, riotous, wild, and sexually heated. Her fingers tensed on his chest, a slight hold on his shirt, all of a sudden. "No," she gasped against his mouth. "Stop, Li Jun. Please stop."

Li Jun went still, dizzy with need, lust surging through his body. He hadn't felt this out of control, this insatiable before. This is both bliss and dangerous. But he was already getting addicted to it. He needed it.

Li Na's hands pressed harder on his chest, her body trembling and her voice thick with fear. "Pl-please... Stop!"

Hearing the fear from her, He took a deep breath and fought to regain his self-control.

Then he gazed down at her and wondered what happened. He tried calling her name but she did not respond. Li Jun peered at her closely, feeling slightly panicked.

Li Na straightened, her face flushed, eyes clouded. Her mouth looked swollen, full, and red from their shared kiss. She looked away, hiding her expression. In a careful motion, she put her hands on the edge of the desk, appearing casual, but he could see the slight tremor in her fingers and the tear that fell from her eyes.

What the hell had he done? He'd heard the fear in her voice. He knew he'd frightened her. And yet she'd responded too, her mouth opening under his. Kissing him back.

There were so many contradictions to her. She was like a puzzle that kept getting more and more complicated the further into solving it you got. And he wanted to solve her problem.

Li Jun slowly moved close to her and stroked her face with his fingertips. When this elicited no response, he pressed his lips to her forehead. "Li Na? Are you okay?"

"Come on, look at me, say something. What happened?"

"Nothing," Li Na replied.

"That was nothing? Look. I'm not sorry for what happened between us," he said roughly, as he prayed that she won't close up on him, again.

"I don't want you to be sorry. I also enjoyed it." She swallowed. "Can you move on the other side of the desk, please?"

He didn't move. "Spend a day with me, Li Na." It was all he could think of at the moment.

She was not speaking as she lowered her gaze down on her desk that was covered with scattered textbooks.

"Just a day. You and me. Nothing more, nothing less."

"Li Jun, please. Move to the other side of the desk. I … I can't think with you standing close to me." She said fear was evident in her voice.

Suddenly Li Jun closed the gap between them. Something in her voice sounded anxious, and he tried to reassure her, so he went with it. He raised his hands and patted her head to give her assurance that he was there and that it was okay.

She went utterly still, all the tension in her body was seeping out. It looks as if she was relaxing under his touch.

He leaned forward, so his mouth was near her ear, and whispered. "Perhaps not thinking is what you need, Professor."

"Li Jun," Li Na started softly. He must've heard the rejection in her voice because he was quick to cut her off.

Li Jun glanced at her, and his eyes swirled with emotion as his lips tipped with pleasure. "It's not just lust," he said. "I mean, sure, the passion is explosive. But I just...I like being around you. I like that you know me. And I like learning about you. I just...I want to know what we'd be like, what we'd be missing if we did nothing. I want to know if maybe there's something more than the casual lust. What if what we have it's worth risking everything to be together?"

Li Na hearing what Li Jun says completely melted her defenses. She was torn on what she should do next, she bit her lip and glanced at him. And, his eyes were a pool of loving emotions. "I've had a really shitty month," he said. "I'm tired and stressed with all the work from the company, and this is one of the days I've had off in a long time. But all I want to do is spend it with you."

Shaking his head, he lifted both hands in surrender. "I swear, this isn't a joke. I'm not even going to bring up the issue of sex. I just want to be in your company. We're going to keep it entirely nonsexual." he teased.

Feeling her resolve completely broken Li Na asked before she chickened out, "What did you have in mind?" Li Jun sagged as he put his head on her forehead. And then he grinned. " Maybe we can start with a bar and go to a park which is downtown. It's about an hour away from here. No one would recognize us, and we'd be out in the open where I wouldn't be tempted into trying anything...untoward." He gave her a playful and cheeky look as he raised his brows. "So, what do you say? Just give me a day."

She didn't move as he stepped away, standing there bracing herself on the desk, her head bent. Neither did she speak.

But Li Jun can see a flicker of a smile on her bent face and he knew he had broken through her resolve.

He suddenly kissed her and bid her a goodbye smiling as he closed the door to her office.
