Chapter 31 - Chapter 31-" In his dream" (pt2)

Li Jun and Guang stared viciously at Mr. Gui's light-skinned, clean-shaven, and bald head, and for the first time since this whole disaster started, Li Jun began to realized something.

They were not releasing them, they were going to kill them no matter what. Ha! cowards.

These wicked sons of jiàn nǚ rén were not asking for the file, they wanted to kill Them. No Not Guang and Chu Hua...They can kill him but not them, not his girlfriend.

Shit! The only reason they were still alive was likely just for the so-called stupid file and for time-saving exercise. If they could kill the popular security detail that was hired by his father, nonchalantly. Then it's only by divine intervention that they could be saved from these people.

"Why are you doing this? Who sent you?" Li Jun asked.

" I won't be good at my job, if I started revealing my client details, no?" He smirked.

After some minutes of silence, Mr. Gui's mouth twisted in what Li Jun assumed was supposed to be a smile. 'I see, so you won't tell us where the file is, right?' he said.

"I don't know what you are talking about. I don't know where the F**king file is. Just name your price. Please, I'm will pay you any amount." Li Jun pleaded

" Ha! Boy, just as my name implies I stay honorable to my employer. I don't need your money. So spit it out. Where is the file?"

" I don't know what file you're talking about." Li Jun said solemnly.

"I see some persuasion is needed," Mr. Gui said, nodding at his men, who quickly moved to the door.

They were gone for some minutes before Li Jun heard their heavy footfalls from outside and another noise. Something was being dragged along with the men, scraping along the tiled floor. Li Jun was getting scared and he glanced over at Guang and saw his eyes close briefly and sadly shaking his head before he opened them.

Li Jun felt the bile rise up in his throat again, and it took all of his self-control to stop himself from shouting out when the men walked through the door, dropping their heavy load in the middle of the room.

No….. Chu Hua. Not his girlfriend.

Chu Hua's head was turned towards Li Jun where she lay face down on the concrete floor, her sightless eyes staring unblinking into the distance. Her hands were still cuffed behind her, her hair was tangled and wet with what seems like blood, and her back a mass of blood and flayed flesh.

In their haste to bring in the dead body, the guards had left the door open. Within seconds of the body falling heavily to the floor, Guang fell backward and slipped out of the chair like a contortionist.

"Shit! What is he doing?" one of the henchmen asked.

"Catch him!" Mr. Gui roared, pushing another of the men towards him, but only succeeded in making the man trip over the body on the floor. While they were still scuffling and arguing about who was going to approach Guang, Some soldiers, and three huge dogs ran into the room. The men froze before going for their guns, and that split second was long enough for the soldiers and their massive black and brown monster dogs to run and leap across the room and attack the henchmen of Mr. Gui.

Mr. Gui fell backward, practically on top of Li Jun. Instinct and anger took over in Li Jun's mind. He rolled the man along his arm, then flipped himself around so the man's neck was gripped between the handcuff and the electric chair handle. He yanked hard. The man struggled and went for Li Jun's eye with the knife he was holding. Li Jun held himself away as far as he could so that it didn't quite reach its target.

He cursed at Mr. Gui " You will pay for her death. You son of jiàn nǚ rén" Li Jun was in trance he didn't know that Mr. Gui had dropped the knife, his face had turned purple and his eyes were rolled back and he was dead.

Li Jun didn't hear the gunshots that rang out. The henchmen were dead and Guang glanced at Li Jun who was squeezing the already dead Mr. Gui in a scary manner.

One of the soldiers tried to pull him off, but Li Jun drove his elbow back into his nose, which started streaming blood and caused him to stagger back. Guang hesitated at first and later walked towards Li Jun " Hey! Li Jun, it's alright. He's dead already. The soldiers are here to rescue us" he patted him, sadness and sorrow evident in his eyes as he looked at Chu Hua's lifeless body. He jerked his head towards the soldiers and Li Jun looked up and saw the soldiers looking at him warily.

Li Jun slumped back against the chair, breathing heavily.

He felt one of the soldiers unlocking his cuffs but he couldn't look away from Chu Hua's face on the floor. Blood was trickling out of her mouth and pooling on the ground in front of him. She couldn't have been dead long. As Li Jun stared, the world seemed to fall away and Chu Hua's image started to change. Wide blue eyes were staring sightlessly forward instead of hazel-colored eyes of Chu Hua, blood and dirt matted long, dark, curly hair instead of short hair. Soft feminine features replaced the slender petite ones. He felt the panic clawing at his throat and tried to scream.

From far away he could hear someone calling his name. He was being shaken over and over again. He fought the darkness, trying to get free and follow the voice. Trying to find his way home.

'Li Jun!' Li Na shouted. 'You're dreaming, Li Jun! Wake up … please, please wake up. You're scaring me. Please.' His eyes shot open and he saw Li Na's face hovering over his, felt the sweat pouring down his forehead. He blinked up at her, relief washed over him as he saw her glistening eyes.

'Ha! yo...you are alive,' he whispered as his hands came up and wandered around the contours of her face and tracing out the shape of her lips. No blood from her mouth, no bruising, no sightless eyes; just her beautiful blue ones, staring down at him in concern and fear. No blood-soaked hair, just her soft dark curls spilling over her shoulders and around her face.

He was relieved when he saw her alive and kicking, then removing the blanket from his body he was abruptly hit by a hangover.
