She walked into the club, hoping no one would recognize her. She quickly pulled her hair out of its ponytail and draped it around her face, using it as a veil to hide from curious eyes. She prayed desperately to the gods of Taiwan-style martini bars to keep any of her colleagues from the department, away from her tonight. She didn't want to run into them looking like this or dragging out her student away from the club.
As she moves close to the bar he was sitting at, she saw an attractive woman whose back was to Li Na talking to him. He was staring not at the woman, whose hand was trying to pull him toward her by his tie, but at his empty vodka glass. He didn't look happy, but that probably had more to do with his drinking companion than anything else.
From her position several feet away, Li Na saw that the woman who was practically throwing herself at him, her cleavage hovering in front of his mouth, was familiar. Bloody hell! Is that not the new secretary that did the boob job, Ms.Hachi? what is she doing here? Are you kidding me?
Li Na knew without a doubt that this was an instance in which she needed to watch out for Li Jun. If he slept with Ms. Hachi, not only would he be breaking the non-fraternization guidelines and putting his academic career at risk, he would likely end up entangled in a nasty scandal with the hoping-to-be-future Mrs. Lu. Ms. Hachi could have been trying to seduce him because she had access to his information and knew who he was and that he was the CEO of the Lu firm.
In any case, Li Na would not allow the flirtation from that frigging hag to continue. Not for a single second. She thought angrily.
She turned on her heel and walked back outside, coming up behind Chia-hao and whispering in his ear. "I need your help. He's with a lady which I don't want her to recognize me. She's one of my colleagues, so I need to separate them before you put him in a taxi."
Chia-hao shrugged. "I'm not sure what I can do about that. That's his business."
"What if one of the servers spilled a drink on her and sent her to the ladies' room? Then maybe I could talk Li Jun into coming outside."
"Do you think you can convince him?"
Li Na paused for a moment, thinking about it. "I'm not sure. If we separate them, I'll have a better chance. I'm not sure he can think clearly with her artificial boobs in his face."
When he is sober she is going to scold him for getting drunk irresponsibly at the bar.
Chia-hao burst out laughing, seeing her cheeks puffed up. "aren't you a little too angry? well, don't worry. I'm sure the bartender can assist us. He's got a good sense of humor. Ask the bartender to call me if Li Jun causes you any problems. Okay?"
"Okay."
Chia-hao made a call on his cell phone, and within some minutes, he was signaling to Li Na to go after Li Jun. She took a deep breath, squared her shoulders, and walked back into the club. Li Jun was laughing. Something had struck him as funny, and he was howling, his head was thrown back, hands clutching his stomach.
Li Na had to admit that he was even more handsome when he was smiling. He was dressed in a mixture of light blue and white dress shirt with the top two buttons undone, displaying a tan-toned chest beneath his shirt. However, his velvet tie, which was striped black on white hung loosely around his neck, made him seem stunning. He was dressed in a pair of black dress pants that were too tight for him.
Simply put, he was drunk, but he was perfect. Li Na thought as her face reddened.
"hmm... Li Jun?"
He stopped laughing and turned to Li Na, a wide smile spreading across his face. He seemed very happy to see her. Too happy.
"Hello! Professor Li Na! Were you looking for me?" He grinned as he took her hand in his and pressed it to his lips, holding it there for several seconds.
Li Na couldn't help but frown. He didn't seem drunk, but he was being friendly, overly flirtatious, and grinning like a whacko, so he must be drunk.
"Come on let me flag down a cab for you to get you home. or Are you with your driver?" Li Na withdrew her hand, as she urged Li Jun.
"Oh thank you, Professor. Let me buy you a drink first? you must be thirsty" He smiled as he peeled off a few bills and handed them to the bartender who snickered at him.
"Um, no. I'm not thirsty, look I've one." She held out her bubble tea and waved it under his nose.
The bartender scowled at her tacky Plastic cup but settled Li Jun's tab and then went about his business.
"Why are you drinking that? I don't like it" Li Jun scrunched his face in disgust.
"Well, this is for me, not for you," Li Na grumbled as she bit her lip, thinking that the most difficult task in the world was trying to reason with an intoxicated person.
He stopped chuckling immediately and frowned, somewhat roughly tugging at her lip with his thumb until he'd loosened it from her teeth. "Stop that. I don't want you bleeding." He pulled his thumb back and brought his face closer to hers—too close, actually. "Do you want me to tell you something interesting?"
Li Na was still trying to catch her breath after the flash of heat that she experienced having his thumb in between her lips.
"No, I don't want to hear what interesting thing you have to tell me until you take your butt off that chair and follow me outside."
Li Na clenched her teeth, wondering how she was going to drag him outside until that Ms. Hachi.
"Professor, you like my butt right." He winked at her.
"I was just talking to someone. She seems familiar, and she's quite the vixen." Li Jun's intoxicated gaze roamed the room before settling on Li Na once more. "She's gone now. I'm glad. She's a nasty bitch. Geez! her perfume stinks" He shuddered.
Li Na nodded. And smiled. At least we agreed with something.
He brought his face close to hers again and licked his perfect lips slowly, very slowly. "Professor why are you in a place like this. You should be resting at home, isn't it? You should be asleep in your fluffy bed since you've been so busy this week, curled up like a cat. A pretty little cat with big black eyes. I'd like to cuddle you."
Li Na's eyebrows shot up. What the hell is he saying now?
"Li Jun, just as you pointed out I need to go back home and rest. Now. So, would you come outside and help me hail a cab? Please, Li Jun?" Li Na gestured vaguely toward the exit, trying to place some distance between the two of them.
He quickly snatched up his jacket. "I'm sorry; I missed my Thursday appointment; I won't do it again; so let's go home, hmm."
He held out his arm in a very proper and old-fashioned way, and she took it, wondering who exactly was leading whom. When they got outside, Chia-Hao was standing next to a cab, holding the rear passenger door open.
"Professor Li Na, come on let's go" Li Jun breathed, placing his hand at the small of her back, gently moving her toward the open door of the taxi.
"On second thought, I can walk," she argued as she attempted to move out of the way.
But Li Jun insisted as he was shaking his head, so did Chia-Hao, who was obviously wanting to get them both out of there before Li Jun decided he didn't want to leave and punched him. So, for the sake of time and to avoid Ms. Hachi, the foul-smelling perfume user who could return at any minute to reclaim Mr. drunkard here, Li Na crawled into the cab and slipped over to the far side with a huff.
