" I don't think we can buy that for you baby". My Mom said. It was my Younger sister Janvi's 14 th Birthday. She was asking mom to buy her a cake and let her have a small party with her friends at home. But our current financial situation couldn't allow us to afford such luxury. Because buying even a small cake will cost about 300- 400 rupees. Not to mention the cost if we call her friends over.
My family has been suffering financially for quite a long time now. My Father used to be a Navy officer. Later, he got retired and started a Travelling/ Car rental Business in our Native place.
We got a Good amount of money after his retirement. Which was used to built our house and rest was used for the business.
The time after his retirement was fairly good. We were happy as a family. Me and my siblings started going to a local neighborhood school and every was going well. But after about a Year and half, things started going down fall .
Our cars got into a some minor accidents. Thankfully nobody was hurt. But cars experienced subsequent damages , which required a alot of money. Later on , the number of our clients started declining. It later transformed into almost no clients at all.
It was hard to even give Salary to the employee. Not to mention, there was no profit but only losses. Later on a time came where all our cars were sold and there was nothing left with us.
I have already completed my College this year. It was a hard time. I had taken admission into a college with the cheapest fees but even paying that was hard.
My siblings are still in school and all of us are now depended upon the small amount of pension my father gets. Papa tried to look for other jobs but a bike accident left a huge scar on his legs.
Thanks to God he is well. But it is hard for him to stand for long or walk. Smallest activity that requires pressure or strength is difficult for him now.
Since I have completed my College. I have been constantly looking for a Job to help my family. But finding a stable job is really hard. But not untill yesterday.
A few days ago , I took part in a online competition held by a korean entertainment company. I was crowned as a winner yesterday and was hired by the company as a translator.
As K-pop has been venturing in India for some time now. The Korean Entertainment company, ShowTop Entrainment wanted to enter Indian market. And they needed translators for their idols. Their were four more people selected with me in the competition.
I have always been a person who likes to learn different languages. I had learnt Japanese during my middle school. I liked Japanese culture alot and the way Japanese sounded. I later on learnt Korean as a part of my College festival.
I had already made sure the company was authentic and that I was not being scammed. The company was offering very tempting salary. They were offering our flight tickets and we all were supposed to be accomdated with their other employees.
I had already saved enough money that will last me in Korea for a month or so. It was actually saved for a different purpose but it would come in handy now. Since I needed to spend money on food and traveling in Korea , I think it will be enough.
Now the biggest problem is How will I be able to break this news to my parents! I Even have to convince them to support me and allow me to work in Korea
