Jamal was barely awake inside the vessel, as it cruised through the water. It was dark outside, as he could make out the stars in the night's sky. He could make out Hops snoring across from him, as they were both sleeping in one room, as it was supposedly Leon's personal ship. How did they just get out of there with no repercussions he still didn't know, but it was too late to deal with at this point. And of course, Hops had to bring the girl along.
Sighing in his frustration to get some sleep, despite feeling tired, he got out of the bed, as he tried to make his way to the stern of the ship. There was no one in the lone hallway of the ship, as he traveled towards the rear of the ship. Yawning, he slid open the door to see the vast space of the ocean surrounding them, and barely the lights of the city-state.
Closing the door behind him, he sat on the lone bench available and stared out towards the darkness. It was better than hearing the loud snoring in the room, and before he could just relax in peace, he heard the door he came from shift open. Through the corner of his eye, he could see something move through and quickly lit his hand in case of an ambush. The thing dropped something before Jamal could get a good look at what it was. Turns out it was Alice, but why was she out here out of all these times.
"Oh, it's you." Jamal grumbled as he sat back on the bench.
"I should be asking you why you're out yourself." the woman bent down to pick up her book and dusted off anything on it.
"Because I can't sleep." Jamal yawned out, as the woman sat down on the opposite side of where he was sitting, on the bare deck. "As for you?"
"Hmm, so I can do my own thing." Alice shot back.
"Why were you even invited here again?"
"Ask your friend, and why wouldn't I take the offer?"
"Can you even fight?"
"Probably better than you."
Jamal had to laugh at that. No way she, out of all people, could beat him. Even Ula would have given him a better fight than what she could do. Speaking about Ula, he could probably bet that Laken probably wasn't doing that hot with his new powers. Heh, he was hoping that he was wrong.
"So you think I'm lying?" Alice grinned in determination.
"My fiancee could probably beat you," Jamal snickered back.
"We'll see about that."
Jamal just chuckled to himself, as he quickly dozed off from the exchange, beginning to see her book light up with energy. He couldn't wait to see the stand-off that would come once they docked.
